Nice experience - Edit
It's a small place with only 1 set menu consisting of vegan traditional food, which is really good. They also have some vegan desserts which are also very good.

A true 5-star experience in Uji - Edit
Fantastic vegan lunch set, with vegetables chosen daily by owners depending upon what is available. Beautifully presented, super tasty, and healthy. In sum - a delight. Vegan deserts available too

Seriously Fuego 🔥 - Edit
It’s a perfect spot to eat after visiting Byōdō-in Temple. We went right as it opened and it was a nice escape from the busy, tourist-ey, area of Uji despite not being very far from the temple. The place is cutely decorated and they were very eager to serve us. We did not speak Japanese, but they were very accommodating, and there was only one lunch option (which was vegan) so that made things easy. Highly recommend you spend your money here!

Mention spéciale également pour la petite boule sucrée à la patate douce prise pour la route, c'était aussi un délice 😋😋

So so good!! Amazing food that is freaking Michelin quality for like $15 for a full meal. The desserts looked delicious but we were absolutely full and had other places to go. Please give your money to this restaurant!!!

They offered us one lunch meal that was vegan. Lovely veggies with tempura and rice and some mushroom soup. In the end we got some black tea. We were more than full after that meal! The owners were lovely and very kind. Would def recommend it!

Amazing Lunch-Set - Edit
a very lovingly furnished, slightly retro-chic restaurant. Little English is spoken, but since there is only one menu anyway, not many words are necessary. The lunch is very tasty with lots of little treats that will definitely fill you up overall. My favorite dish was the pickled eggplants, absolutely delicious!

Good set meal in a cool setting - Edit
We were seeking refuge from the rain and were very happy to find this place. The menu was cutely hand drawn and the decor was cool, with a record player in the corner.
Read moreThe set meal was nice and featured some interesting textures that I hadn't had elsewhere. There was a really nice variety of dishes and no two things were similar.

Excellent set meal in Uji - Edit
My favorite meals in Japan were often the ones where the only English word I read or saw the entire time was the word "vegan". Really tasty set meal, a great "I don't know what I'm eating but it's delicious" experience. I showed up at lunch time on a weekday and there was plenty of space, no reservation needed. Very little English spoken but wasn't an obstacle in my mind. Almost worth the trip to Uji by itself!

Great food - Edit
I ordered the set lunch, which is basically all that you can order other than sweets. It was amazing. Even though it is a little bit pricier than other set lunches, it was worth it. There is no English menu, and you can't pay with credit card.

Best vegan lunch in my life ♡ - Edit
Stopped here before I visited Byodoin, and the owner couple kept a table for me for lunch! At the lunch time the place was already full with local families and girls, so you should make a reservation especially on weekends!
Read moreAnyway the lunch set I had was amazing. It came with tempe with teriyaki sauce and 10 different dishes including delicious thick pumpkin soup and brown rice.
The small dishes had different flavours but each taste not bother each other at the same time, which should be finely calculated/considered by the chef. The decoration of the plate was also beautiful.
They also have home-made cute sweets which are also vegan besides cannelé. I had a earl grey cupcake with a whole fig on top which was great...!! Their coffee beans are carefully selected and very aromatic, makes you feel even more calm after visiting all those temples and shrines.
You will feel the chef's love from your bites♡
Pros: Warm service, Delicious & beautiful food, Nice atmosphere

No English menu but no matter! - Edit
No English menu and the Japanese was handwritten so I could not translate it. The owners were very friendly and welcoming but spoke limited English. Luckily they fully understood ‘vegan’ and indicated which items were appropriate and available. I had the lunch set with a soy coffee and a gluten free vegan banana cupcake. Everything was fresh and delicious

Menu changes often but nearly everything was vegan. I particularly liked the miso soup and the cupcake. Friendly staff and real vinyl records! Near popular temples in Uji.

vegetarian and vegan twist on traditional japanese home food - Edit
The food is traditional japanese cooking that can be found at home (tenpura, korokke, miso soup...), arranged to fit vegetarian and vegan values. It's delicious and healthy. We love going there: the owners are very nice, and the atmosphere cozy.

Il n'y a pas beaucoup d'endroit ou manger vegan à Uji donc c'est bien d'avoir ce restaurant! Nourriture originale et typique, personnel très agréable.
