Awful!

Had a meal at Woodlands about a year ago & has to be said it wasn't great but eternally hopeful people that we are, thought we'd give it another go. Food awful, channa was under cooked, cold and no idea what they were trying to attempt with the sauce. The onion kulcha was well, not an onion kulcha and paneer dish consisted mainly of raw (but shouldn't have been) onions. Food got sent back and personally if you fancy a spot of pure veg indian, i'd nip just over the road, chaotic but much nicer

Cons: Awful food, indifferent service

Warning to all vegans: please do not eat there

ATTENTION for all vegans. The restaurant advertises vegan options but does NOT have them. We explained before ordering that we are vegan, asked about the options and so ordered garlic naan and a Bombay Thali. After we had almost finished eating, we ordered more naan. Suddenly, a different waiter explained that neither was vegan. There was condensed milk in the naan and butter in the Thalia dish. I was horrified and explained that I had been living a strictly vegan life for years and couldn't believe it because I had asked several times beforehand. This was not addressed at all, no apology.... We paid, left the rest of the food and left. I cannot understand how something like this can happen in a vegetarian restaurant. So a warning to all vegans: please do not eat there.

Cons: Staff give wrong Information, No really vegan food, Unwilling to understand the problem

No vegan lassi

The food was decent, very good price. Spicy garlic noodles was very tasty. Lunch set only $10 ringit. But we asked for mango lassi without yogurt and explained many times, no yogurt. In the end we took a drink and it has yogurt in it.

Tasty and cheap!

The food is really good and cheap - you need to ask waiter which dishes are vegan, tho.

The service itself could be better😉

Vegetarian but with good vegan options

Bit chaotic but good choices! Would benefit from clearer labelling of vegan options

Excellent vegetarian restaurant

Great restaurant, basic service, clean and friendly, but the food was great and inexpensive. We selected four dishes, with a couple of roti’s and we could not pick a favourite. We had mushrooms fry, potato and cauliflower special, and a pea masala.

Pros: Quality of the food, No nonsense quick service , Basic but good

Cons: Would have liked a tiger beer

Tasty but not clearly labeled

I had the masala dosai, which was super tasty and a lot of food for the 4.5 MYR I paid! You also get free water with the food. At first, I was a bit overwhelmed with which options are vegan since everything is vegetarian but nothing is labeled as vegan or non-vegan. I asked the waiter whether what I wanted to order was vegan as well and he told me that this one had milk in it and instead recommended the masala dosai, which I ended up getting. So, if I’m doubt - just ask the staff :).

Loved the food, service sucks lol

The food is so tasty and makes up for the lacking service. They’re unfriendly and disinterested, always seem like they hate their jobs 👀 More importantly: the food is so tasty and really authentic. Prices are ridiculously cheap and the food comes out within minutes after ordering. Mushroom fry is a must try! Smoky, flavorful, god-like

Pros: Amazing food

Cons: Staff attitude

Tasty North and South Indian dishes

The restaurant was packed when we arrived but we were able to squeeze in on a table where a couple of parties of 1 were eating.

We tried a couple of South Indian things (potato dosai, tomato uttapam) and reverted to some old favourites from the other half of the menu (naan, chana paneer, mutter aloo).

I hadn't had anything like the dosa and uttapam for ages so it was really nice to try something like this again.

The flavour on the chana paneer was especially good and I wouldn't hesitate to order it again.

The portion sizes were good and the food was very good value. We probably slightly over-ordered, but there was never any doubt that we'd finish the tasty meal.

Pros: Good value , Chana paneer

Cheap & tasty Indian food

Came here twice and enjoyed the food- simple but tasty. Staff able to indicate which food is vegan/could be veganised, as not indicated on menus. Some of the dishes you’d usually expect to be vegan weren’t. Staff aren’t the friendliest. Cheap food that came out quickly

Good

We’ve come around 11am for a late breakfast. The menu is divided into sections: first part is served before midday, the second after. Due to that we were there very close to midday, many things were finished so we didn’t have much choice. We ordered 4 dishes for 2 people and that was a lot, we didn’t expect that because the prices were very low. Food is tasty, authentically Indian.

Huge portions

Good food & huge portions! Staff very helpful in informing what is vegan and also have his recommendation.
Also has a sweet stall out the front, only 2 things were vegan which were okay but not much flavour

Pros: Helpful staff

Superb Indian food!

We had a meal here on NYE. Everything was excellent, I recommend the Dosa. I also loved the tomato and onion Utthapam. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Penang a few days

Authentic Indian food

Very good vegetarian food with many vegan options...
The place is always full of local people. The food is freshly made every day with a huge menu that have from simple snacks to full set ( thali) meals.
I tried many of the dishes and i have never been disappointed...
There is a jar on the table with water, FREE!
There are juices, lassies, teas and other drinks to choose from, as well as Indian sweets...
Located in Little India, Georgetown, very easy to find. Everybody in town knows it.
The staff is very kind and helpful even though they do not smile a lot:)

Nice Indian food

A not to bad option for decent Indian food. Not the best I've had, just average. Prices are fair for the portions as well. Be careful if you have allergies as well, sometimes the staff doesn't take it serious

Cons: Allergy attentiveness

This place is amazing

2 years later and I’m just sitting here dreaming about this restaurant. It’s so yummy and authentic and inexpensive. I need to go back to Penang ASAP JUST to eat here again.

Thali central

Authentic and delicious.

Sizeable portions, the Thali in particular is abundant.

Make the staff aware of your vegan requirements and they will gladly inform you which dishes are or aren't suitable.

Incredible Indian Food

I’ve been craving good Indian food for the last year. I’ve been traveling consistently and hasn’t been able to find any until getting to Woodlands. Easily the best I’ve had in a long time. They do use dairy in their foods, but if you let them know you’re vegan, they’ll accommodate.
