Great find for a lunch! - Edit
We have family in Rye, so finding a vegan cafe so close by was amazing.
Read moreWe have visited a couple of times (with non vegan family too) and we have loved it every time.
Massive serves!! which is refreshing. Fresh and delicious.
Only downfall is the coffee - its not great, and the baristas need some training. Still we come back time and time again and just skip the coffee...food and smoothie...grab coffee elsewhere.😄
Will be back - YUM!
Pros: Fully plant based , Delicious , large meals
Cons: Coffee not great , can sometimes be a little slow when busy

Amazing vegan flavours - Edit
We had the MAC-V Burger and it was seriously tasty and a very descent size. The Wombat Balls for desert were delicious! The coffee was ok - needs a bit of fine tuning. Great atmosphere. We will be back!

Excellent all vegan food - Edit
Lots of choice of both food and drinks. A little pricey, but good quality and worth it. Service is a bit standoffish (you have to fetch your own menu and water, but that's not clear on entry), and the coffee is average. Stick with the lovely smoothies!

Healthy vegan foodie heaven! - Edit
My sister had told me about this place. Her daughter is allergic to eggs and dairy so she finds it great. We don’t live nearby but whilst visiting we managed to go to wombats. It was fantastic. I was so excited to have so many options ( vegan ). Can’t wait to go back!

Loved it! - Edit
Wish we lived closer to this cafe! Stopped in on the way home from staying in Rye. All vegan delicious. Had the breakfast burrito, a bit spicy but one of the best burritos I’ve had and was only $14.50 which is cheaper than cafes in Melbourne. Chocolate smoothie on the expensive side but was delicious so definitely worth it. My partner had a vegan pie which was yum. Also has lovely, cosy atmosphere.

Womberful! - Edit
I regularly visit Wombat and it is always something I look forward to. All of the food is simply divine, the staff are friendly, and there are some good magazines on offer for you to read. The indoor decoration is lovely too. My only trouble with this place is having too many things I want to order and I can never fit it all in.

Big Breakfast! - Edit
Hot drinks include a gingerbread latte. The smoothies sound good. The all-day breakfast menu includes pancakes, tofu scramble and the Big Breakfast, which I ordered: tofu scramble on sourdough toast, hash-brown patties, mushrooms, sautéed spinach, tomatoes, mashed avocado, $26 – a hefty breakfast (good, but I’m not a fan of huge mushrooms). The lunch menu, from 11:30 a.m., includes a burger (pumpkin and chickpeas), asparagus soup with garlic bread, frittata, Buddha bowl, nachos, tempeh noodle stir-fry, curried vegetable samosas ($4), sausage rolls and more. Many desserts and treats. I bought a peanut-butter chocolate-covered ball (great!), a chocolate-chip cookie (haven't tried it yet) and a big, pineapply, iced muffin (maybe a bit too much icing?). Love having a vegan eatery on the Peninsula.

Amazing - Edit
It was my first visit to Wombat Cafe after finding it on the Happy Cow app. I was not disappointed, the food was incredible, huge serving and the flavours to die for. I had the smashed avo with corn, hashed brown and scrambled tofu. The service was with a smile and the decor clean and welcoming.
Read moreThere are amazing cookbooks and grocery items available to purchase in the shop section, including delicious looking cheeses and other yummy stuff!
I happily sat for at least an hour by the front door, browsing vegan magazines enjoying my large brunch. The staff gave me some info on the area and other vegan places to try and walks in the area.
This was a great place and I will happily return.
Pros: Tasty food, Friendly and welcoming staff, Nice chilled out place
Cons: None

Always a pleasure - Edit
We arrived after the kitchen closed but we're still able to get toasted sandwiches and cake. I got a mixed veg, pesto, and cashew cream Turkish bread sandwich and it was delicious, although it would have been nicer if it had been warmed up and the cheese was a bit too sweet. The banana cake was one of the best I've ever had. Cakes on top of the display cabinet are not clearly labelled and the staff often seem too busy to tell you what they are, signage here would improve customer experience.

Great food - Edit
I'm pretty sure the whole menu was vegan & I tossed up from the banana pancakes and the scrambled tofu. Ended up going with tofu and it was yummy.
Read moreMy husband got the big breaky and it was huge. Probably enough for 2 people to share.
The only thing I didnt like was the customer service wasn't the best. Not many smiles or conversation to make you feel welcome. Hopefully they can work on that.

Cons: Not very friendly or welcoming

ate here & am now womfat - Edit
We ordered a Wombat breakfast and an Avo smash moment. Both were huge, satisfying and delicious. The tofu scramble was particularly excellent: it had a consistency and flavour that I've never encountered before, i would love to be able to recreate, or failing that, I'd settle for returning for more.
Read moreThe dessert cabinet is incredible too. DO NOT LEAVE without having of the chocolate covered rose Turkish delight moment. It be the divine.
Wombat also has a great curated selection of locally made fabric accessories, vegan cheeses and delicacies.
Staff were friendly and helpful with excellent Peninsula picks for our onward journey.
Worth the drive from Melbourne for their breakfast alone.
Pros: excellent selection, large servings, great service

So good to have a fully vegan cafe on the Mornington Peninsula. They have breakfast and lunch menus as well as a great selection of hot drinks and smoothies. I had the gingerbread latte which was perfect on a cold morning with a soy/coconut milk blend. The banana pancakes with Nutella and hazelnut praline were so good! Very good size and delicious. A sign when entering saying to order at the til would be helpful or having a waitress welcome with instructions as we wandered in with no welcome and figured it out ourselves.

Vegan haven on the Peninsula - Edit
Wombat is always a highlight of a trip down the Mornington Peninsula. They have a lot of options, great quality, generous portion sizes (if in doubt, get the salad plate!). The cakes are pretty rich but can be justified after cycling up Arthur's Seat!

Best Big Breaky!! - Edit
My partner and I came here for breakfast this morning and had the best big breakfast we’ve ever had! The tofu scramble was so yummy and all the ingredients were fresh and tasty - not to mention the serving was HUGE. They had products for purchase such as cheeses, baking goods books. The cakes also looked amazing - we only wish we had room to try them! We’ll be back for sure.

Wombat heaven - Edit
Amazing vegan food. We had the "All day breakfast " and "Tofu scramble with a large marinated mushroom " and my husband had the Wombat big breakfast. Meals were on the larger proportion so if your a sparrow eater maybe try a salad bar down the road after finishing our meals we both agreed this cafe was one of the better vegan eateries that we have visited and going by observation the locals agree as well all in all we would rate this cafe 4.5/5 stars
