Small vegan take away opened May 2013. Focus is on seasonal local ingredients. Food is made in-house, and juices & smoothies are made to order. Has daily specials alongside breakfast food and Saturday brunch. Mostly take-out but has a couple of seats indoors overlooking the street and a couple of tables outside. Call ahead to place an order as the wait time can be long without preordering. Open Mon 12:00pm-8:00pm, Tue-Sat 11:00am-8:00pm. Closed Sun-Mon.

A gem! - Edit
We ate at Wild Leek twice while in Halifax. What a gem! The Dragon fries are crazy good. Honestly one of the best potato dishes I’ve ever eaten. The Bahama Breeze onion rings were great too. Who knew coconut and onion play so well together? Buffalo tofu sandwich is also a good choice. The donair was decent (the one at Wooden Monkey is better), The seitan meat was nicely caramelized but the wrap contained lettuce (a big no-no as far as donair purists are concerned) and the sauce was more like mayonnaise. Really good Caesar salad. They also offer a good selection of baked goods, with 6 packs of frozen day old cupcakes available at a reduced price. We didn’t get a chance to try any of their bowls. This will definitely be the first place I eat the next time I’m in Halifax.

Fabulous - Edit
Great place! The server was incredibly friendly and helpful. Absolutely get the dragon fries - they're the best food I've had in Halifax. The seitan mushroom mozz burger was ok - texture was great but it could have used a little something more in the flavor department. They also had a wide variety of baked goods.

Delicious vegan food! - Edit
Delicious vegan food. There are so many good options on the menu that it is hard to pick a favorite. It is small restaurant and sometime there is a wait time to get in but it is worth the wait.

Cute place - Edit
Good vegan food, leaning into the crunchy-granola vibe. Good flavour profiles. Their dragon sauce has a cult following— you can add it to various dishes or get their dragon fries. Good variety of baked goods.

Meh - Edit
I loved the Strawberry Fields smoothie, but the miso ginger noodles were not for me. All and all it's too expensive for what you're actually getting. There are better vegan restaurants in Halifax.

Always a great meal - Edit
Wild Leek never fails to disappoint with their meals! The menu changes a few times a year it seems and they also have daily specials, so there’s always new things to try! The farmers breakfast wrap is amazing. I also love the dragon sauce they make. Only downside to the place is they don’t have a lot of seating.

Fantastic food, especially for brunch - Edit
I've been to Wild Leek a couple times and really enjoyed it every time. Brunch is a real star, especially the benny with breakfast potatoes. The menu is varied enough that it even has options to please a difficult omnivore.

My favourite vegan restaurant on the planet.. so far - Edit
The Wild Leek is my favourite vegan restaurant. In a nutshell - it is delicious. The portions are huge. I recommend you go with others so you can share (and that means you can try more things!)
Read moreMy favourite dishes are the Breakfast bowl, the Wild bowl and the Dragon Fries because they come with Dragon Sauce. The breakfast bowl is a delicious array of roasted potatoes, mushrooms, onions and the BEST seitan I've ever tried. The wild bowl has rice, seasoned tofu and seasonal steamed veg. The Dragon Fries are roasted potatoes smothered with dragon sauce, banana peppers and green onions. I am salivating as I type! Dragon sauce.. you must try this sauce. It is liquid gold. I always come back just for this sauce! It's garlic.. salt.. sweet.. nutty.. Very hard to describe but very, very tasty. Please try it and see for yourself!
I also like their classic brunch plate. It has just about everything on there. Scrambled and perfectly seasoned tofu, potatoes, corn bread, some fruit and a really colorful salad. It is served with a delicious green dressing. They don't skimp at the Wild Leek!
To drink I recommend the wild tea - especially if you like ginger!
They often have neat specials like Bibimbap and Udon - things not on their everyday menu. They have lots of sweets too for those who like dessert.
The plates are always colorful and with lots of variety. The atmosphere is intimate but relaxing. It is a very welcoming place!
If you're in Halifax you definitely need to eat here. You won't be disappointed.
Pros: Delicious , Huge portions, Welcoming atmosphere
Cons: My belly won't hold their entire menu!

Good, but not great. - Edit
Customer service definitely deserves 5 stars. However, for the price I wasn’t a huge fan of the food, I was expecting a bit more. I was hugely disappointed by the seitan bacon (too thick and wasn’t as fully-cooked/crispy like other “bacon” I’ve had before).
Read moreI really wanted to love the food, but I’d rather explore other options before going back!

A Jewel of a Find! - Edit
The Wild Leek is a small restaurant but big on taste! We almost didn’t stop in knowing they only seat 18. I will tell you this is a very popular place...at 2:30 in the afternoon we still had to wait for a table but it was totally worth it! We each ordered the specials and they were amazing...we even ordered 2 of the soup specials with grilled cornbread to take back to our hotel for dinner! You won’t be sorry you waited for a table at this jewel of a vegan restaurant!

Delicious, vegan food! - Edit
Open seven days a week, shorter days on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Brunch menu - available all day - includes tofu scramble, pancakes, benny and “nomlette.” Juices, smoothies, hot and cold drinks, craft beer (bottles and one on draft, plus one cider on draft), wine and cocktails. Burgers, wraps, bowls, salads, cheezcake, gluten-free brownies. First visit, I had the delicious chick’n pesto pita pizza, $14 - loved the crispy chick’n cubes, pesto flavour and other toppings. Next time, I had the excellent Daily Benny - a good “eggy patty” and cheesy sauce, and the sliced potatoes were nicely seasoned. Third time, I had the very tasty Thai Bowl (enjoyed the leftovers cold next day). Friendly staff, good service. There is still plenty on the menu that I want to try - next time I'm in Halifax!

A MUST GO! - Edit
If you are in Halifax, vegan and want some food with flavour, you must make the time to stop in. I almost didn’t because I was told it’s a tiny spot and not fancy. Well, don’t let that stop you, take your food to go if you have to... it is soo worth it. I had the mushroom soup and Caesar salad, then had to get the asparagus and mushroom penne pasta. I ate the last of it in the airport cold and it was still delicious

Best plant based restaurant in the HRM! - Edit
I once lived in Halifax, and try to visit every summer. As of last summer, my partner and I decided to make Wild Leek our official first stop from now on.
Read moreThe food is local, original, and full of amazing flavors. I made it my mission last summer to try everything on the menu at least once, and I'm excited to give this year's menu a go. (Hopefully I'll see some fan favorites if I'm lucky *wink*)
If you're not totally stuffed from your delicious meal, treat yourself to one of their desserts. I'm low key obsessed with the cupcakes.
To top it all off the staff is awesome! They have a friendly/casual/professional/passionate vibe that you just can't fake. I enjoy the beautiful humans that work here just as much as the food.
Did I mention the prices are great and totally accessible?
10/10 would recommend this place to any plant based foodie looking for delicious food that is made with love.
Wild Leek is not just my favorite vegan restaurant in the HRM, they are my favorite vegan restaurant period.
Pros: This place is nothing but pros! , Amazing local DELICIOUS food, friendly staff. , The pricing is super reasonable.
Cons: The only con is that they could use more seating., Old chairs are cute, they're scary if you're thicc, They dont also have a location in BC lol.
