We’re from north Scotland where vegan restaurants are scarce so we love to try places one our travels. I can’t believe this is vegan it was incredible! We got quite a big order to try a bit of everything

Delicious Chinese food with a lot of choices, all vegan, pretty decent portions which normally gives us a day or two of left overs!

The "chicken balls" are addictive - Edit
It's not the cheapest Chinese but it's amazing to have a vegan one around and every time I order I tell myself I'll save half for tomorrow, and I don't! I especially cannot resist eating the whole portion of chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce.

Good sized portions. 4/5 food - Edit
Veggie chicken in black bean sauce with rice was great. I didn’t enjoy the vegan lamb fried rice (tasted a bit stale). The spring rolls whilst numerous in quantity were subpar too - thin and lacking filling and the cheaper sort you get from a Chinese supermarket.

Pros: Veggie chicken black bean sauce, Large portions
Cons: Some dishes not to my liking, Poor quality spring rolls

WOW!!!!!!! - Edit
Finally, chips and curry sauce from a vegan Chinese takeaway! It was great! The curry does become lumpy quite easily but the flavour is there - yum.
Read moreChips were good, generous portions.
Deep fried wontons was of great value for money and they tasted as expected - yummy.
The "chicken" drumsticks itself had an odd flavour, a bit musty, however, the texture is awesome and we'll will be having them again.
Mixed vegetables in ginger and spring onions tasted just how I remembered in my youth - it's legit.
The take away is open kitchen and the seating area is more of a take away feel so if you're going there for a restaurant feel then this is not it lol. However, food does come out quick and piping hot!
After eating many dishes now, every meal had been fantastic, I highly recommend the "lamb" curry, salt and pepper chips, salt and pepper drumsticks, curry sauce, Singapore fried rice, the chowmein dishes, the braised aubergine.....I'm gonna need Wawin for dinner now.

(Cash only) Fantastic and so much choice - Edit
Overwhelmed by the choice, having spent decades poring over Chinese Takeaway menus with few vegan options.

Extensive menu, quick service - Edit
Huge menu, with most dishes featuring the option for vegan chicken/lamb/prawn, tofu or veg. It's not a sit-in place really, though they did have a couple of plastic tables by the large takeaway counter.
Read moreFood was served in plastic takeaway boxes with paper plates. It came very quickly and was delicious! We had the "chicken" noodle chow mein, and tofu satay with green peppers.
Hoping to order as a takeaway some time in the future and try more dishes!
Pros: Lots of choice
Cons: Not a restaurant really

March 2024 - I cannot believe this is the first time I've reviewed this place! We've been having take aways from here since it opened, and have at least one most months. The portions are large and so we can usually get two meals from one delivery which makes it all very cost effective. Love all the different options we've tried.

I have to order from them at least once a week as I am in absolute love with a lot of their food options. I usually have chicken friend rice with curry sauce or chicken chow mein, and then a lot of sides.

Perfect every time - Edit
I am ashamed at how many times I've ordered delivery from here. The food is just spot on every time. I've tried the special fried rice, crispy duck, wonton, spring rolls... but my go to order will always be chicken chow mein and tofu with cashew sauce. So good!

As great as the reviews suggest! - Edit
Just wow. Being a vegan who also has discovered a gluten intolerance, I haven’t been able to eat Chinese food since I was a teenager. This place transported those flavours back to me, and made me so happy. Delicious flavoursome Chinese food, with big portion sizes. Food was ready very quickly, and staff very friendly. Lots for those with gluten intolerance, and the items with gluten in are specified on the menu. The mock beef is just 👌

Great selection and brill sizes - Edit
I‘ve had Wawin a number of times and every single occasion has been a joy! The vegetable stir fry is gorgeous with a lot of umami flavours, and it’s really nice to be able to have seaweed again! I wasn’t the biggest fan of the meat alternatives but my partner loved them! Also very accommodating to allergies which I really appreciate!

Loved the Vegan Special Szechuan - Edit
Vegan chicken: great. Vegan pork: excellent. Vegan king prawns: not so much. Overall flavour of the thing: very good indeed. I asked for it as spicy as they could make it, and it had decent heat to it.
Read moreWasn't cheap at £9.90 - plus £2.30 for fried rice. But I ate half as a massive meal, then later two of us shared the rest cold (still great) as a normal-sized meal, so it could feed four in one portion! My non-veggie friend asked for its details, he loved it so much.
Will definitely return.
Edit: I did return. And to avoid paying cash I ordered via their website, which includes a discount, went to pick it up - and I'd ordered from Leeds by mistake, where it had already been made. Not to worry, they made it for me in Sheffield with a smile. Excellent customer service for what was obviously my mistake. And just as good the second time. I'll return again!

Food wasn't that great, maybe we just ordered on a bad day? - Edit
We ordered a few of our favourite Chinese dishes (Inc vegetable chow mein, salt and pepper tofu, sweet and sour) and they just weren't great. The chips were cold and soggy and the chow mein didn't really have any flavour at all. Maybe we just got them on a bad day? Not sure we'd try again with so many other great options in Sheffield.

Wawin - Edit
We’ve had several takeaways from Wawin now and I haven’t even tried ten percent of their menu which is absolutely huge! There is something for everyone, mock ‘meats’, tofu or all veg dishes. Generous size portions. Prices of some dishes do seem a little on the high side. I’ve tried other all vegan Chinese takeaways but so far Wawin is my favourite.
