I ate here for brunch and dinner on separate days. Brunch was just okay - the watercourse platter wasn’t anything special. Highlight of the platter was probably the bacon and potatoes with cracked pepper aioli. I also had a tasty chai latte.

cute vegan restaurant - Edit
Visited this cute vegan restaurant on business trip to Denver. They have a good drinks list and nice selection on the menu. It was a nice place to meet a group of friends. I really enjoyed the chili and their proprietary tofu is truly exceptional- perfect texture and tastes amazing grilled!

Watercourse Foods definitely lives up to the hype. I went for brunch and ordered the French toast and the bacon, and was absolutely blown away. This must try spot for any vegan visiting Denver.

I ordered delivery from Watercourse a few years ago and was highly disappointed but wanted to give it another try.
Read moreWe went on NYE for dinner and i was pleasantly surprised! Our server and all of the other staff were great, really enjoyed n top of it and welcoming.
My gf had the cauliflower wings and fries and loved them.
I was nervous about gf options but there were a ton of selections (not shown on their website). I had the mushroom cheesesteak sammy and mac n cheese. I inhaled both of them. I also ordered a gingerbread martini which was perfectly perfect.
We decided to get everything but the kitchen sink and tres leches cupcakes and a gingerbread molasses cookie to go. The desserts were moist and delicious- definitely recommend! #Veganuary

Disappointing - Edit
I was excited to try Watercourse after hearing good things about it but it was incredibly mediocre. The restaurant was basically empty but it still took our server quite a while to get to us and she wasn’t very attentive. The restrooms, while gender neutral, were really dirty.
Read moreWe had the Brussel sprouts appetizer which was dry and overcooked. For entrees my partner and I split the brown butter sage gnocchi and the 2 piece cauliflower chicken with broccoli and Mac and cheese for the sides. I will say, the gnocchi was absolutely delicious and that’s the only reason this place is getting 2 stars. It was so delicious and I highly recommend it. However the cauliflower chicken was bland and the portion size small. The mac and cheese was overly sweet and tasted like coconut milk and the broccoli was dry and unseasoned. For a plant based restaurant their plant based dishes could use a ton of improvement.
Not sure we’ll be giving them another shot when we’re back in Denver.
Pros: All vegan
Cons: Bland food, Pricey, Service is lacking

nasty - Edit
Served flat root beer in a dirty glass. Food served on dirty plates. I tried the turkey sub. It was terrible: rancid tasting meat from overheated coconut oil. Coconut oil quickly turns bad in flavor, its not an oil to have on a grill. F.P. everyone at table.
Read moreI used to eat here a handful of times a year, but this was the first time I have been back in 7 years bc we were served food that had plastic and staple in it. I said something to waitress and she gave me a look that I put it in the food to try to get a free meal. Dated recipes and bad hygiene. I wouldn't go back if you paid me .

All over the place. - Edit
I ordered the Prosciutto Benedict Sandwich. The prosciutto was soft and the egg didn’t have much flavor. The hollandaise sauce was pretty good though. I give this a 3/5. As a side, I got the Curry Tomato Soup: 5/5.
Read moreMy husband got the Roasted Chicken & Prosciutto Sandwich. We both though that the crust was way too hard. He gave it a 3/5 but I’m giving it a 4/5. As a side, he got the Mac n’ Cheese. He said “I’ve had better, but it was still pretty good.” 4/5 only bc it was too coconutty.
We also had the Loaded Truffle Fries. It didn’t have any mushroom bacon as listed in the ingredients. The truffle hot sauce tasted more vinegary - which is alright bc I like the taste of vinegar, but I didn’t taste the truffle at all. I LOVE fries and I almost always eat all my fries, but I could barely tolerate even a quarter of the order bc of the spongy texture of the fries itself. We both gave it a 1/5.
The Giant Soft Pretzel with all the dips was a 4/5. The pretzel itself is a 5/5 bc it was so fluffy and well-salted. My husband said this was the sole saving grace to why we’re rating this restaurant a 3/5 instead of a 2/5. The cheese fondue dip was way too salty, liquidy, and coconutty. The other dips weren’t great either.
And for dessert, we ordered the Seasonal Cheesecake. We were under the impression that it would be a different flavored cheesecake per season, but it was literally just a plain cheese cake with a berry compote on the side. It was WAY too small of a slice for $8. We didn’t even finish it either bc it lacked in flavor: 1/5.
Regarding the service: 3/5. The person on the phone was very terse and didn’t listen very well. I asked if they did delivery and he said yes - but at the end of the phone call, he never asked for our address. So I mentioned it and he quickly said they didn’t do delivery. So he cancelled our order and proceeded with DoorDash. No napkins or utensils.

Great takeout, cauliflower dreams - Edit
We did takeout via the online system and it was smooth and easy to navigate. Our food was tasty and unique. Our personal favorite was the southern fried cauliflower. We also enjoyed gluten free bread options to go with the mushroom cheese steak, also a winner. The only thing we didn't love was the Mac and cheese. It lacked flavor and creaminess.

Tomato Benedict - Edit
I was a huge Benedict girl pre-V and this was one of the best I’ve had. Roasted tomatoes, their version of a runny poached egg and the BEST holly sauce wow. We got a side of the biscuits and gravy and that was so good too. My wife got a breakfast sandwich on their fresh baked sourdough and it was so damn good. Even got a MASSIVE salted chocolate chip cookie for the road and it was perfect.

I had the Butternut Squash Gnocchi and the Cauliflower wings.
Read moreWings were cooked well, cauliflower was fresh and I really like their Ranch which comes with them. I also got the BBQ sauce but I was neither here nor their about the BBQ. Ranch was the standout.
Gnocchi was a good recipe and I enjoyed it. I would give it like 3.5 stars.
What I liked most about this place was the staff and the FULL MENU of vegan recipes and not-common-to-find treats! I would be back a couple times more just to try some of the other items.
I will note I did not get a fork or napkin in my stapled-to-go bag!
I would say from a flavor perspective I might recommend Superfood Bar over this depending on what side of town you're on.
But if you are looking for comfort food good chance you'll find something here you will fully enjoy!

This place is a really great fully plant based restaurant located in Denver!s Capitol Hill neighborhood. I always get the Cuban sandwich which is a vegan version of the Cubano but this time went for the sweet potato and carrot arancini which was a creative dish of sweet potato, carrot risotto balls served on a bed of lentils and arugula. Unusual and tasty!

A Denver institution with friendly service - Edit
We've been eating at Watercourse since the dawn of time (or at least since its original incarnation on 13th), through ups and downs and a couple of reinventions. At its highest points it has been a runaway favorite. In the past few years (since the pandemic-era challenges) our experience has been a bit mixed, but still good overall.
Read moreTips for healthy and happy dining at Watercourse: Many of their main dishes are rich/fried/oily/heavy, so when selecting from the side dish options to accompany your mains, we highly recommend picking the lighter and fresher options, like salad or spring greens, rather than going for the fried sides, which can cause cumulative overwhelm in the gut. The portions are generous enough that we often wind up taking something home, so consider bringing your own reusable take-out container.
We love the staff here. It's a colorful mix of friendly souls who take good care of their guests.
One questionable practice emerged in the covid times and (as of mid-2023) still hasn't gone away: The restaurant tacks on a 20% service charge (on top of the menu prices) to support the staff (which we're all for), but then also hits you up for another standard tip on top of that. If you order online, it explains that the first 20% service charge is for the whole staff (front and back of house) while the additional 15-25% gratuity is for the front-line staff (servers — or in the case of take-out orders, the person who hands you the bag). Either a 20% flat gratuity *or* a customary discretionary tip is fine and great, but if you ask for *both* it becomes too complicated and awkward, and can result in sticker shock when the bill comes. It would be more honest and transparent (and much more user-friendly) just to raise the menu prices by 20% and raise the whole staff's pay commensurately. We're all for workers being paid well, but the restaurant could make this more straightforward for their customers. We know other long-term customers feel this way, too, and we all hope they'll reconsider this.
There's plenty of seating (including outdoor tables when the weather permits), but the place still tends to fill up during peak mealtimes, and sometimes there's a wait.
Finally, we appreciate that Watercourse supports charitable projects doing good work in the world (if they're still doing that).
Enjoy!
