Fresh, tasty and reasonably priced

Dining in Switzerland is not particularly cheap. Thus we were very pleased to find the Vegitat. Although not all food there is entirely vegan it is at least completely vegetarian, reasonably priced and provides very yummy food. I highly recommend Kol Boerek with potato filling as well as the Cigkoefte and Vegan Doener Dueruem. In particular the dueruems (=wraps) tasted fresh and healthy as they are filled with salad ingredients. You can have e.g. a "honey" mustard sauce (where the honey has been replaced by Agave syrup), a spicy sauce or a vegan yogurt sauce with the wraps. Delicious dishes with lentils and chick peas are also available. As dessert try the vegan Tiramisu - my wife and my son were delighted. Next time in Basel we will be back as the Vegitat was the best place for us to eat.

Great and cheap snacks

One of the best cheap places to get vegan food in Basel! A filling Kofte Durum for 6 Sfr is a really good deal here, and it tastes very good (lots of fresh veggies and herbs in it!). They also had some kind of pancake stuffed with nuts and mushrooms, which I loved (I forgot how it was called, but I recommend it!). The vegan tiramisu is filling and cheap as well, not the best one I had but still good.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, cheap and fresh

Very delicious vegan döner!

Very tasty, I frequently drop by to pick up a vegan döner.
The Cigköfte wrap is also very nice. (two versions: a little hot and (very) hot).
2-3 minutes away from the "Kaserne" area and the Rhine. Nice places where you can sit and eat your vegan döner.

Pros: Very tasty

unbelievable!!!!

Yes, this is the first time in my life that I go to a vegetarian restaurant and when I ask for vegan option, simply put, they sent us away...although they had pizzas and other stuff that could be "veganized" easily.

Pros: ?

Cons: not vegan friendly

Maybe you were in another Restaurant, but not at Vegitat. We have 90% vegan food, and 10% vegeterian (sauces, baklava, börek, ayran). We don,t have pizza, only vegan Lahmacun since few days.

waiting outside

This place actually opens at 11.30, not at 8am as advertised here. At least on Mondays. Couldn't ask more info because I don't speak any German.

Excellent quality and value

I have been in Basel for about half a year and being "almost" vegan is not easy. This place has been a blessing. Tasty, great quality, inexpensive (if you live here you'll appreciate this!), lovely staff. Try the cigkofte dürüm and the Vegan döner. A MUST if you're visiting or a resident. EXCELLENT!

Don't pass Basel without going here!

For Fr 5.- you get a vegan Köfte Dürüm made of bulgur, for Fr 8.- a vegan Döner made of seitan (which is rather cheap for Switzerland). We enjoyed both very much. Just the right spices in both offers and the sauces were delicious too.

The 12 minutes by bus from the train station were worth it, we will definitely come back.

Unfortunately, the Baklava is made with honey and the vegan Tiramisù couldn't keep up with the main dishes at all.

Pros: Tasty, very fair prices
