Good place

The restaurant is easy to find. We think it’s run by a family and the older women was pretty busy and alone with all the guests. So it took like 20 min until we could order. But than the food came really quick and was good. Not as extraordinary and delicious as at the vegetarian tiger, but it’s a good place to eat and a bit cheaper than the veg. Tiger (we paid for 3 dishes and rice around 85 Y)

Pros: Many vegan options, Good taste

delicious meal!

Between Zhangzizhonglu and Dongsi subway stations, on the east side of the road. The name is 京素 Jingsu.

I was very pleased with my meal of mock duck (savory tofu skin rolled up), perfectly cooked leafy greens, and boiled dumplings full of cabbage and peanuts.

Clean, pretty space and decent service.

Very good vegetarian restaurant

I recently went to this place and it had a great selection of vegan food. The food was very delicious.
The drinks menu is still only in Chinese and it appears that most soft drinks are only served in large bulk bottles (eg 1.5l). Also, the staff could be a bit more attentive.

Pros: Excellent food

Very good all vegetarian restaurant

I often go there, food is very good and inexpensive (you can have a meal for under 40 yuan) lots of choice - not only dumplings and everything is vegetarian. I love the place!

Pros: Not expensive , Food is very good, Lots of choice

Cons: Simple decor

Really good dumplings!

Quite a lot of dishes on the menu contained egg, but they did also have a fair number of vegan dishes. I really enjoyed the peanut and Chinese cabbage dumplings in particular! Very reasonable prices.

highly recommended. We even had a Dumpling class there, the menu is in English and part of the staff speaks English, so it very easy to order.

Delicious

Amazing food and friendly service. One of the staff spoke English which was helpful! Vegetarian but loads of vegan options, we just ordered what looked vegan and mainly got it right. The rice came with egg but we used a translator on my phone to ask for it without egg and they were really nice about it and exchanged it for us. Great cheap food!

super cheap and tasty food

*beware* the map here on happy cow showed us the completely wrong location. Double check the address before heading out.

The food is great, it's not all dumplings but that's no bad thing. We had two different types of dumplings, little ones (about 8 or 10 for ¥8.5) and big ones (4 for ¥12) along with the Beijing braised noodles and the sesame noodles. Everything was amazing. Definitely worth a visit.

Pros: cheap, tasty food , lovely staff

Cheap and good

Not really a dumpling place, more somewhere that sells standard vegetarian Chinese food and dumplings as well. Directly on the main road and easy to find. Menu has translation and some English spoken. Pretty cheap, paid 39 for a spicy (what I think was vegetarian ma po tofu) and 10 dumplings.

Pros: Cheap, Plenty of choice

Cheap and really good

We went there for the lunch, we had dumplings and noodles soup. Everything was really good, especially the dumplings! Oh and it's really cheap, we paid only 41¥ for two! I recomand this place.

Pros: Big menu, Cheap, Delicious

Good restaurant

This place is great for a vegan if you are desperate, but there are other great and cheap places around that are totally vegan. Some of the dishes are hard to know if really vegan or not and the stuff don’t always speak English. So have a translator ready if you are wanting to go and make sure you eat totally plant based.

Pros: Cheap and heaps of variety

Great food - though probably more like $$

Great restaurant with wonderful options. Limited English, and prices are actually not bad but, compared to standard-fare Beijing restaurants, a little pricier (meaning we spent about $25 for two for dinner, vs. $10-15 at a smaller mom/pop place). Nevertheless, a great option.

Outstanding

A very good option for vegetarians and vegans alike. The dumplings with peanuts are worldclass. Very fresh meals. Once we found this we never went anywhere else because it was just so good. They also do takeaways. Some waiters don’t speak much English but it‘s always possible to communicate. We were given

Pros: Yummy meals, very fresh and cheap , friendly

Not Really a Dumpling Place, but Still Great

Today I got off the train at Zhangzizhong Road (张自忠路), walked a bit until I saw a sign with "Vegetarian and dumplings" in English out front. It also said, "京味素餐" like the picture here... That translates to Beijing Flavor Vegetarian. Maybe loosely to Taste of Beijing Vegetarian Cuisine? Someone please correct me.

Turns out this is not really a dumplings place. It's got a good interior with a second floor for seating and overall semi clean vibe. No English speaking staff, and your typical leave-you-alone types until you flag 'em down. I don't think I spoke a word of English while here. I'm not fluent in Mandarin. I did confirm that everything was vegetarian. Definitely not a vegan place.

I ordered the sweet and sour "pork" with a bowl of rice and the Dan Dan noodles. The menu is a giant picture book with some English, so they seem to have upgraded.

As I was waiting for my food, I noticed the table. They have napkins, toothpicks, soy sauce, and chili oil available for you, so it's about average for places I've been to in China.

The "pork" was fried taro wrapped in tofu skin with a sweet and mildly sour sauce on it. Definitely had honey. The Dan Dan noodles were more soupy than minced stuff. All very good. Nice and crunchy with a softer texture. Soup was flavorful and mildly spicy. All very earthy and full of umami. Exactly what I was craving.

Good prices too. Total came to about ¥50. I'd come back. Maybe to try the dumplings.

Pros: Decently priced, Deep flavors and interesting textures

Cons: Have to get by with Mandarin only, Confusing names...

Delicious dumplings

The food was delicious, especially the dumplings and sweet and sour mushroom. The staff doesn’t speak much English but was able to order just fine, they even told us that we were ordering too much food for two people.

Good Food

The food was nice but see the picture and order as the menu google translated and it does not matches the pictures. A bit oily but good.

really tasty dumplings!

We really enjoyed our meal, everything tasted even better than we expected! The ordering of the dumplings was a little confusing as price given is for half a serving and minimum order is for a full serving of 10 dumplings per flavour, but dumplings were delicious. Vegetarian fried sausage was nothing like sausage but was also good, a kind of fried rice gluten.

Good, plentiful

Lots of variety of dumplings! I just randomly tried 4 different kinds, and was not disappointed with the results. But, the best, for me, was the vegetarian goose!

It was easy to find this place by comparing the storefronts with the photo (here on Happy Cow) of the front of the place.

Pros: Really good vegan options , Fresh juice

Delicious Dumplings

This is the best place to get vegan dumplings in Beijing. There are loads of options and everything I tried was delicious. You mark what you want to order on a card and there's a picture menu so it's all very easy.

Tasty and local

Lots of locals and some tourists eat here. I am here for the second time now that's how much I love it. They have a lot of vegan options and serve fast. Friendly staff but they do not really speak English, you'll get a menu with images and symbols. It works just fine. Enjoy!

Nice location

It's a really nice restaurant where many Chinese and some tourists eat. Everything is vegetarian, vegan food is marked as vegan. We ordered 5 dishes and payed 8 euros for dinner for two people. Really nice dishes, good quality, freshly made. If you ask them you get plain rice for free (like in the most Chinese restaurants)
