Vegan Shoku is a little on the pricey side compared to most sushi in town, but the food is unbelievable, the atmosphere is lovely, and the staff are very friendly and kind. They do delicious vegan versions of virtually everything you'd find on a typical sushi menu in Vancouver, which is such a delight. I wish it was closer to my home! I'll definitely be back.

My first time going to an all-vegan sushi place. Quite novel for me. I tried some things that I've never had before, such as crab sushi, tuna sashimi, and salmon nigiri. Very interesting. I cannot give you a comparison to the real thing as I've never had them before. I think I prefer the non-fake-meats stuff, things I know and recognize as I have never had non-vegan sushi. As an athlete with a large appetite I also added a couple plates of udon to my meal to fill me up as I think I could eat a LOT of sushi before feeling like I've satisfied my appetite, so highly recommend doing that if you're like me in this regard.

Wow Vegan Sushi in Vancouver - Edit
O Wow 🤩 finally, the First Vegan Sushi restaurant that I tried in Vancouver! I have been waiting for a vegan sashimi for 12 years now! It feels so good to have sushi, sashimi & all authentic Japanese dishes I like without REAL Animals in them. Very tasty, fresh & authentic. I would think on the portion-wise, could be a bit bigger. Overall it’s a great experience!

We got a number of items, Inari roll, spam roll, cucumber avo roll and others. Would eat here again many times if I was local and try everything.

Delicious artful sushi - Edit
I’ve never had a vegan cali or Alaska roll but always see them on the menu of non vegan restaurants so I had to try both. The Alaska roll was on the chefs special menu and was topped with vegan caviar. It was all so delicious. My partner got the chicken donburi and it was equally delicious. I want to go back and try every single thing on the menu. They also have real wasabi which was neat to try.

Read moreExtensive menu, it’s hard to choose what to order (I guess you have to visit them again and again). The rolls are an artwork, beautifully presented, and with gorgeous and vibrant colors and different textures that entertain your taste buds.
Very friendly staff.
Kids friendly (plenty of rolls with delicate flavors).

The sushi rolls I got were sooo good, and not having to worry about cross-contamination or accidental non-vegan ingredients meant I could enjoy it fully.

I’ve searched everywhere in Vancouver for decent vegan sushi.. and having this place open is a god-send.

I have always wanted to know what all those other items are on most sushi menus and Shoku made it possible to try! I visited twice over two days.
Read moreFirst we tried the chicken teriyaki bento box made with wonderful seitan. We also got the avocado salad which was refreshing and delicious. We also got an order of Philadelphia rolls which were absolutely fantastic (watch out of you need very mild food, they're a dash spicy).
On my second visit, I got the tuna poke bowl which was both refreshing and filling. Great work on selecting mock seafood products that aren't processed.

The food was delicious. I had a beef teriyaki bento box, which came with “crab” pressed sushi. Very interesting flavours. It’s great to come to a Japanese restaurant and be confident the there are no hidden fish ingredients in the meal.

Wonderful vegan sushi/bento boxes - Edit
Everything on their menu is vegan, and it's fantastic. I've had the teriyaki 'chicken' bento box, which was served with a generous vegan California roll, salad, egg rolls, and tempura. Not sure what the 'chicken' was made from, but it was delicious.
