WOWOOWW I was actually recommended this place from my uncle who’s not actually vegan but loved it, so I had highhh expectations! The amount of colour, effort and abundance they put into their food is unbelievable 🧡💗💙and we left very fulfilled and happy! Staff were very helpful and kind despite how busy it was. The location was also great, nearby to the Bloomenmarket💐 !!

Really don’t understand the hype. If you’re a fan of average overly sweet soft food with lurid sauces then this is the place for you. The burgers were nothing special, the wings too sweet and the sauces are for instagram kids. The best things were the staff (very friendly and helpful), the chips/frite (they were hot, crispy and plain) and the drinks. Maybe I wasn’t the target audience.

A fun novelty experience - Edit
I was hesitant to go to Vegan Junk Food Bar due to how expensive it is (even for Amsterdam prices) and how busy it was. But it was actually a pretty fun experience with huge portions of well flavoured food. It was pricey, but worth it for the novelty and a big feed.

Great vegan shawarma! - Edit
So many great options, felt impossible to choose what to eat! Went for the Kapsalon loaded freak fries, classic betterballs, Mac and cheeze betterballs and VJFB Fizz burger. The shawarma was amazing! The cod fillet tasted similar to a fish o’fillet and the betterballs very great and surprisingly filling! We went to a different VJFB just for the cocktails and they were very tasty and pretty strong! The place has very good (and funky) presentation. Wish we had more time to eat everything on the menu!

Nice food and cocktails, but too many disposables - Edit
This establishment is nicer than the other ones in Amsterdam because it’s quite spacious and the staff is friendlier. It has a big terrace and seatings upstairs. The food and cocktails are usually nice. Check my pictures for reviews per item.

We limit the CO2 or water footprint through our plant-based concept. Plant-based food has a positive effect on deforestation, ocean pollution and animal suffering in the world. Every time 1 plant-based meal is consumed at VJFB™, 2.000 liters of water, 1.4 m2 of forest, 2.25 kg CO2 and 1 animal life is saved!
We are integrally and constantly looking for the best solutions with regard to the environment, for all our brand materials. We see this as an integral part of everything we do and we like to choose environmentally friendly solutions. Our packaging is certified and contributes to sustainable forestry. Endangered natural areas are protected and new forests are planted once the forests are cleared. We work with suppliers who ensure the right delivery conditions throughout the supply chain – from the moment the saw blade is inserted into the wood until the paper arrives in our stores. Our Green Mission is evolving. It’s an ongoing process in which we strive to no longer regard packaging as residual waste after opening, but as basic material for a new (packaging) product.

Was kind of expecting to order takeout at a greasy counter, but this is a real restaurant.
Read moreJunk food is right in the name. The menu isn't peppered with nuanced delicacies, but tasty comfort food. The colorful sauces really made the difference for me. And of course you need to try bitterballen if you're in the Netherlands as a visitor.
One can happily share the meals with each other, e.g. utilizing the "Sumo Platter".
For the fact that everything is vegan, the place is buzzing, with queue before the entrance. Nice to see. Something like this could run already all over the globe, if the big fast food chains would take their "sustainability" and "responsibility" seriously.

We had dinner at @veganjunkfoodbar If you want to sit inside at winter time, you always have to wait in line.
Read moreMy favorite thing in their menu is their nachos, the content is very balanced and the hot spice is very good. Eating as a share is also enjoyable. I can even eat just that.
In addition, we ordered the sharing plate, which is referred to as the sumo platter on the menu. It was good but didn’t love it.
Betterball is something I've only seen in the Netherlands, a crunchy outside and soft filled snack. You can try in sumo platter.
They have branches in Bacelona and a few other cities in the Netherlands. 30€ average with alcohol. 🌱

Most realistic vegan bitterballen and shrimp ever (at least as far as I remember!) Loaded fries stay crunchy despite being covered in sauces and toppings. Cheese on cheesy smash burger tasted impressively like cheddar. Enjoyed the fancy mocktail and happy they had an n/a option, but with so much ice, it was gone in what seemed like a few sips. Staff were also very friendly and helpful. Scan a QR code at the table for the menu & to order and they bring it to you.

This was a fun vibe but just kind of boring and overpriced. All the food tasted the same but was presented so that you want to post pictures online. The five different kinds of sauce were pretty but remarkably similar in flavor. The cocktails were too sweet. Just not my jam, unfortunately.
