Good funky vibes and great food overall! I had a cheeseburger and loaded smiley face fries! The waiters were all lovely too, one helped by answering my questions about the amsterdam trams. On the pricey side but everything was delicious and satisfying.

a pleasant experience if not my favorite food! the staff were very nice and seating is good (big covered outdoor area with heaters). the food was just okay—it's creatively presented, but i didn't like the blue and pink sauces, the impossible meat-y textures, or the movie theater–style nachos. but if you want a super nostalgic junk food night, it's exactly what it says on the tin.

was looking forward to it. nice menu! also, the service was quite fast. unfortunately, the classic burger tasted quite bland and the prices were overall pretty high. Apart from the 4 betterballen being 6,50€ in price, I enjoyed them. Too bad I am still a bit hungry after spending 18€. Will come again though to try the rest of the menu.

I only had some fries and betterballs. Both were good, as were the sauces, but there are better fries in Amsterdam. I ordered the classic betterballs, but one of them was the Thai peanut version, must have been a mix-up, no problem, though I liked classic better.
Read moreWhat I really dislike is that menu and ordering are via QR code only. I asked for a printed menu since I wanted to conserve both battery and data, but was told that was not possible at all. At least when you scan the QR code for the menu it automatically offers to connect to their free wifi so you don't have to worry about data and roaming charges if you're travelling. The system also doesn't seem to work quite smoothly, when I tried to pay the waiter couldn't find the correct order and I had to wait for another guy to fix it.

The crunchy classic betterballs were so delicious. Also loved the Thai chick’n ones. The blue sauce was a little surprising on the burger, but all was so tasty. Really loved the Caesar salad too! It was a nice option to have delivered.

Yes, it's junk food so it's obviously not that healthy, but perhaps that's just what you want, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Read moreThere are a lot of (too many?) vegan junk food places in Amsterdam, and they don't actually live up to the standards of VJFB. It's more unique due to the colorful sauces, the in-your-face decoration, great service, and by far the best vegan kapsalon in the city.
The burgers are good, colorful, filling, but never make you feel disgusting afterwards, lol. The starters are also not to be underestimated: the peanut bitterballen are fantastic, and the shrimp is sooo tender and tasty.
They also seem to adhere to a higher standard in terms of hygiene. At least I've seen them clean tables and stairs a lot more frequently than at other places, plus they were the only vegan place that consistently cared to check our vaccine certificates during the pandemic.
The major downside to this location is that it gets extremely noisy on weekend evenings so I would usually recommend it for lunch instead.

Having been to a few vegan Junk food places I feel quite confident in saying that this is one of the best! First saw them on Instagram years ago, and had to wait to visit. If I'd been hungrier I would have ordered more food. It was amazing! The truffle fries were really delicious. The burger was perfect. They even do cocktails in glass glasses!!

VJFB is 1 in my list I come back to, because they make their food so tasty and extra! The nachos and kapsalon are deliciously prepared and have different toppings.🌺🌶️🧀
You really have to taste the flying wings! That was my favourite. The sauce is really great! 🤤

It was so good !! I ate the tradicional Bitterballen and i loved it. The cesar salat was fresh and taste original. We liked the fresh mint tea and the latte but the very best was the dessert i swear i will dream about it!!

Read moreThe service can be a bit off sometimes. My mom ordered a dessert at the same time as her meal and they brought her the desert before the main course. I think it’s pretty common knowledge you bring that after. We also had some used plates that we clearly set aside for them to take and even though they came 1-2 times to bring us other stuff nobody picked them up.
Overall though they were friendly and most are on the younger side (probably not as experienced) so I’m just happy the place is open.

Went here on 13/05 and had high hopes given the previous reviews but the whole experience was a let down. Firstly we wanted to sit inside, partly because there were no tables outside and also because it was too hot but we were asked to sit outside as apparently they didn’t want anyone inside! Wtf? It’s a large restaurant and empty inside. So we waited and sat outside. The menu is accessed by QR code and you place your order via this. The burgers I have to say were average, as were the loaded fries, you can actually get better elsewhere. The dessert pots however were both lovely and the mocktail galaxy lemonade was the nicest drink I’ve ever tasted. The service however was pretty poor (perhaps staffing a restaurant with teenagers isn’t the best policy), I ordered a hot chocolate with my dessert however after finishing these and waiting about I asked our surly waitress about waiting for the hot chocolate only to be told off that ‘it will be getting done and other people will have ordered things before me’. Again wtf?

Smashing, well it’s still on the menu, I was able to order it and why didn’t someone come and tell me that!!! Bearing in mind this is quite an expensive place (the bill was around €60 for 2 burgers 1 fries and 3 drinks) i wouldn’t say it’s worth it given the poor customer service. Perhaps the other branches are better, this was the central branch next to the flower market. Younger customers might enjoy it more but there are loads better options in Amsterdam imo.

Finding decently trained waiting staff is a struggle all over Europe ever since Covid. We can be happy that they can keep the place open, even if it means that service might not be as nice and well trained as desirable. I’m personally happy that restaurant are able to fill in missing staff with teenagers, especially when it means the place can stay open and doesn’t have to close down
