Great burgers, cool atmosphere - Edit
We got the burger with mushrooms and the black bean burger, both were delicious. The potatoes were good too. The pricing here is pretty reasonable. Cool atmosphere upstairs with a guy playing the piano downstairs. Staff were very friendly, let us try the beers before buying. Ended up coming back again while in Barcelona.

Great pub! - Edit
As somebody else said, service in this bar is very basic/laid-back/hippy, but if you are OK with this (I am), then sit down and enjoy the great food they offer: the best hummus in town in terms of taste, roasted potatoes (papas bravas) are simply incredible, and burgers are good (all soy-based, though, so if you want to avoid soy, you only have a couple of options in the menu).

I'd return for beer, then food - Edit
I've been to a few craft beer places in Barcelona, surprisingly a lot of them had vegan options on their menus, or served vegan / vegetarian food only, which made me love the city even more than before. But CatBar offers the most interesting craft selection I've seen, everything on tap was from Spain.
Read moreNow, the food was quite good, but I wouldn't say mind-blowing at all. We tried a burger and a lunch, maybe those were simply not the best options on the menu. It was alright, but I would return for beer, to then eat a vegan burger: in that order :)
I also liked the vibe, the service was kinda funky, almost to the point where it seemed they didn't care about you at all, but by that time I figured it was somewhat typical for the region anyway. To be clear, I personally like this kind of a laid-back approach, but wanted to mention to set the expectations if you're reading this before going to CatBar for the first time. Definitely go there, by the way.

Vegan Burgers - Edit
This was the first vegan place we hit in Barcelona. It has a hippy vibe and nice craft beers on offer. You can buy set meals so burgers with baps or without and just with salad and potatoes. The burgers were delicious and relatively inexpensive. Not too hard to find either!

Amazing burger and lokal beer - Edit
I had the Champion burger and a local Barcelonian beer for around 10€, which was completely fair for one of the best burgers I've ever had. The interior is charming and messy and the service is quick.

Great Burgers & Beer! - Edit
We had not planned to be in this section of the city this trip, but found ourselves at the Picasso museum due to International Free Museum day(surprise!). I remembered reading about this place but didn't have the address with me. We asked around and found it, and we were so happy we did. The Black Cat burger was the best vegan burger I've had anywhere. And the beer was great too. Fast, friendly service and a cool atmosphere.

Quirky and Tasty - Edit
The menu and ordering process are simple, they have an English menu which is handy for those of us who aren't great at Spanish ?. The burgers are tasty and filling, they don't have fake meat options and instead have different 5 or so different bean/veggie burgers. It's not the best veggie burger I've ever had but it's a damn good burger. The patatas are fabulously greasy and delicious. This place is a must for vegan cat lovers ?.

Cool for cats - Edit
Nice and simple. 5 vegan burger options and not much else. The two we tried were good and filling. Hemp burger was ok but too much vegan mayo, ask for less if you don't like getting messy. "Crazy" burger (with nuts...) was excellent, great texture and the cheeseless pesto was very tasty. Patatas bravas with smoked paprika was a great addition.

Great food but... - Edit
..the list of "rules" for the place was ridiculous. Introduction to Cat Bar starts off with a correction of it's own title. Um, ok. Weak "cat theme" for what it's worth.
Read moreA push to tip meant they got less of one. Don't want to serve people or clean up after them? Don't. A portion of the food price is supposed to go towards service/staff pay. A tip is for extra special service, of which we got none. The cutlery one girl said she would bring over was never brought in the end..Treat others as you want to be treated? Indeed.
"There will be a calculator on your phone if you have trouble with arithmetic"?? (Regarding no split bills and tips) Mean-spirited sarcasm reduces the tip even more.
Not that I really care but a description of an upstairs area was described as antique (at 41 years old). Isn't antique older than 100? Anyway...*pedantic*
The silliest rule of all was having to ask permission to play after 15 minutes on the piano. And no registered music. What if your own music is registered? Dilemma...
About the booze: we had wanted a 50cl drink of an IPA but were refused because of it's percentage. I'm nearly 50 and old enough to know what I can handle. I dare say we were not served this because we weren't locals. If this was not the case, then print up several different drink menus and change them out according to your stock (and it's percentages). Or don't offer such a high percentage drink in the first place. Funny, because we were allowed to get the smaller one in multiple numbers (and for a euro more each one). We just had the one and hit the Irish bar down the road where we had 1 beer each *and a laugh*.
No photos as it was far too dark (for my liking) and they didn't come out very well.
About the food: we had the hemp and black cat burgers + patatas bravas and it was the best sauce (imo) we had in Spain. A bit pricey for the food but it is the gothic quarter and it was very filling. At least the food was good...
Pros: good food, vegan, dog friendly
Cons: too bossy, too dark, a bit pricey

Any beer over 8.5% we restrict to 28cl at a time, for everyone, as it states on the beer list.
Read moreThe Beer list is next to the beers, where you can taste them, before buying, also at https://untappd.com/v/catbar/33407
All beer is 3€ for 28cl and 5€ for 50cl. (more of less 10C per cl).
You can play your own music on the piano, because it belongs to you,
the 15min piano rule is to stop bad player playing all night.
If you don't want to pay as a group, don't order as a group.
We don't push for tips, but if you want to tip there is a "tip jar" on the bar.
