Interesting - Edit
I went there last autumn.
Read moreThe grilled meat was very original, worth a try.
Since I was half-full and didn't want to order the regular dish, I requested a smaller portion of rice (the price didn't change since it's not an option on the menu). The staff was very kind and adjusted the seasoning of the meat so I could eat it well with less rice.

Nice place for a nice meal - Edit
Bistro Jangara is an all-vegan restaurant located in super fashionable Harajuku. The space is small but feels spacious, with a gorgeous view of Yoyogi Park.
I couldn’t help but order the quesadilla, seeing as Tex-Mex food is a rare bird in Japan, with vegan Tex-Mex food being even rarer. Unfortunately, this quesadilla didn’t look, feel, or taste much like the quesadillas I used to eat back home in Arizona. It tasted fine, and the cheese tasted especially good, but I wouldn’t order it again. The portion was rather small too.
Ryuji seemed quite happy with his chanpon, as did the folks at the table next to us who ordered the sizzling plate of soy meat. I should’ve have gotten that instead 😩
Dessert was quite nice— a creamy coconut mousse cake that arrived at our table frozen. It was fun to eat as it slowly thawed.
The location is great and the food is reasonably priced. Service was very friendly and the place was clean. I’m looking forward to coming back and trying their other menu items.

Really delicious food! - Edit
I was so curious to try Jangara vegan food and it didn’t disappoint me. My non vegan husband ordered the yakiniku and said was delicious so we also did take out.
Read moreI ordered the hamburger and it’s very small and nothing special, but the sauces are really delicious.
About the menu, you need a telephone to read the code and so you can download the menu.. Now, think it would be better if they use a normal menu because it can be a little confusing especially for old people or foreigner.
The restaurant is a little small and the design really plan. The staff is all male and you can see them working in the kitchen (kinda busy). I think they should hire some females too because I think they are more good taking orders ecc the males waitress didn’t seem very good taking order or polite (maybe it’s only my impression..)
Location is very good , near Harajuku station

Delicious ramen! - Edit
Situated only two minutes away from Meijijingu mae station, Vegan Bistro Jangara is a nice cozy place to enjoy a bowl of warm noodles in a cold rainy October.
Read moreThe two items that I have tried are the autumn specials: Karabon and Tsukemen.
I have heard that Tsukemen is better than your regular soup-like ramen, but it is rather a pain to find the vegan version. The tsukemen at vegan bistro Jangara was a delight: the chewy texture of the noodles dipped in the mild, but flavourful soup compliments each other.
If you love spicy noodles, vegan Karabon has a good level of spiciness (perhaps like a level 2 of coco-ichi) and very filling, although the soy-meat that came with it was a bit lukewarm.
You can pair your main meal with salad or gyoza (or both) for an additional cost. If you're hungry and happens to be roaming around the Harajuku area, give this place a try!

Amazing experience with my kids - Edit
Eating with 2 kids under 5yo is not always easy but here the room is spacious (large tables and space between them) and the food was delicious. There is a whole wall as a window giving a nice view and helping not feeling constraint inside.
Read moreThere was no kid menu but everything is OK for children anyway and the quesadillas worked fine for my 3yo daughter (already cut in 4 small pieces, hamburgers would have been probably harder, ramen is probably fine). For adults the meal are reasonably sized (Japanese style), I could have eaten more but it was fine. The taste was great, only the guacamole was average but all the rest was incredible.
The service was perfect, the staff is very nice and welcoming. We didn't wait long, around 5mins, although we got 1 meal way earlier than the rest, and this is not ideal with kids.
I would recommend to anyone, it offers great value for the price (and it is just at the exit of the metro, again nice for kids).
PS : we went for lunch during a weekend, the room wasn't crowded (~half).

Cheap, quick and tasty - Edit
Had a grill burger, quesadilla and gyoza.
Read moreTheir service is quick, and the portion is just right if you come here to enjoy as bistro, to have some drinks.
The burger was smaller than I expected but decent size for the price I guess.
It comes with sides - 4 kinds of sources and fries!
The grilled soy meat was very good and reminded me of Japanese yakiniku.
You can choose 2 flavours out of 3 for quesadillas, and I got curry and Mexican. The Mexican was good but the curry one wasn’t that special.
It also came with 3 sides.
The gyoza was amazing! It must be even better with drinks!
Pros: Cheap, Tasty, Quick
Cons: Not really “bistro” lol

Nice modern snack place - Edit
Right near yoyogi on the second floor of a building, this is a nice spot to grab a quick bite. The service was fast and the food was nice, just slightly on the smaller side portion wise. Would be happy to go back for a snack whenever I’m nearby!
