Nice food for a good price

We had the daily menu, which includes a soup and a main dish for 99CK. The place isn’t the best but the food is good for the price.

Tough love

Love the atmosphere, the Czech feeling (for foreigner sometimes unbearable) of typical pub.
Dislike the waiting times and jumping quality of the food. Sometimes it's super delicious, sometimes it's without taste, you never know. The service has their better and worse days and you can feel it.
I like it much better since there is a ban on smoking inside.
I go there, however, only when I have much time and solid hunger. The size / value ratio is incredible.
Despite and due to that for all those years Vegal is still one of the most favorites of mine.

Pros: punk pub atmosphere, big menu

Cons: portions are BIG (funny con, I know), jumping quality of food and service

Food wasn’t for me

We had the traditional Czech dishes but we both didn’t enjoy them much. I think it’s a taste preference thing and we might have been happier with a different choice. However, we really liked the punk vibe.

Pros: Punk and antifa vibe , Cool part of town

Cons: Didn’t like our choices of food, Too many dishes to chose from (I know weird con)

Great lunch

We visited Vegalité for lunch during our stay in Brno. For just 100 CZK you get a nice lunch menu consisting of soup and main course. Staff was very friendly and fast. The place is located in a basement, which was nice too as it's been a bit cooler than the 33 degrees of outside temperature.
Wed definitely come back on our next visit to Brno!

Pros: Cheap lunch menus, Broad offer of affordable drinks, Cosy atmosphere

Good food, bad atmosphere

Don't get me wrong: I like the informality of the place and the food tastes really good, but the waitresses were clumsy and unpolite and our table was really dirty.
Such a shame.

Pros: Great food

Cons: Dirty, Uncapable personnel

Finally had veg. goulash

The goulash I had here was very good. finally found a restaurant who makes it without meat. Dishes in general are very good. Staff was really friendly. Prices are incredible. 0,5L of beer cost us 1,4euro. Brno itself was dissapointing, but this place made up for it.

Pros: Cheap, Big portion, Friendly staff

Punk's not dead in Brno!

This punk-rock pub offers daily menus as well as permanent offer of czech meals as well as some international and junk food. I think that most of the food is vegan, but watch out as there are some sneaky vegetarian meals. Food is average to good, I never had a bad food here. They often throw punk, hardcore and other gigs in the main room. Prices are appropriate.

Pros: Cheap, Underground atmosphere

Cons: Food varies from average to good

Great ghulash but...

They have an amazing vegan ghulash, but we also had lasagna which was heated up and cold in the middle - average tasting (the warm part..). Ok service, the atmosphere might turn you off a bit if you're not into alternative.

Pros: great ghulash, very cheap

Cons: atmosphere, sticky menus

wide Variety of food, nice staff and fast service and characteristic czech feeling. Low prices and really tasty food and they serve typical czech dishes but also other cousines. And good beer.

Sometimes good, sometimes very bad

This used to by my favourite place to eat, I just loved their food. But last visits were just terrible. Sometimes food was greasy, sometimes just bland. Today we were waiting for an hour to get our food, after all that time it came and it was really bad. I ordered fried cheese, but it was something weird (propably "niva") but it tasted really bad.

One of the best options in Brno

Every time I come to Brno, I come to Vegalité. This is a very nice underground restaurant, they offer different dishes each day. They usually offer vegan/vegetarian versions of Czech dishes, which you can enjoy with a good Czech beer. Really cheap. Highly recommended!

ACTUAL PARADISE

ok so: this is a super spacious, alternative looking pub with unbelievably cheap but all the more delicious vegan food. the definitely has soul, there's loads of posters/stickers everywhere and it's obviously very popular with the younger crowd especially. you can even smoke indoors, which i personally appreciated (but understand not everyone might).

i tried the patatas, fried smoked "eidam cheese", svíčková and goulash. EVERYTHING TASTED AMAZING. the goulash was probably my favourite. i was with an omnivore, who genuinely couldn't believe vegan food could be this great.

i secretly love czech cuisine but don't get to have it as often as a vegan these days. i had extremely high expectations for this place, and it somehow managed to exceed them.

DO URSELF A FAVOUR AND VISIT THIS PLACE

Pros: everything

Beer&food

With new law forbidding smoking in restaurants this pub become really superB place. Full lunch menu for 89 Czk (3.5 EUR) (2017)?! Usually simple, classic meals in veganized versions, really amazing taste. All the time there is something special on the menu, like homemade kimchi, lollies, lemonades etc. etc. Totally recommend.

Never ate there and heres reason why

I am usually very open minded but this was a shocker. The entrance, the place inside is dirty, felt like a old train station. I am sorry but I would never eat somewhere that dirty, makes me question how clean the kitchen can be if the rest looks like this. There are other, cute places in Brno with veg food that are worth to visit.

Pros: None

Cons: Dirty, scary almost

Hi,
Vegalité is quite popular restaurant with high level of cuisine. We clean the interior EVERY day, but we have plenty of people coming so in the evening it is not the same as in the morning. Kitchen is wahed EVERY day and kept clean durring the day. Your review doesn´t say anything about food, drinks or services. Only says we are dirty. I find you review quite unfair.
Greetings. Jiri

Not convinced at all

We were totally confused why this place get such raving reviews. Maybe because it's a bit underground and alternative, and by this I mean in a cellar where they smoke... but that didn't charm us. Also the food was really bland. If you're in Brno for a short stay, there are better options.

Awesome place - must visit!

This restaurant is actually one of the pioneers of vegan spots in my hometown. They offer cheap daily lunch menus and dozens of options off very affordable standard menu. Great personnel. It has sort of a punkish vibe to and it often hosts concerts. Overall, highly recommended.

Delicious vegan fried cheese

Vegalite is a cavernous little underground pub. The non-smoking room looks a bit like a children's playroom, and service is a bit slower there as it's not in view of the bar, but it's quite cosy too. There's one English menu with vegan options clearly marked.

I had the robi goulash and really enjoyed it: it was good and smoky, but there were too many dumplings for me. My partner enjoyed the robi steak with ragout and vegan cheese, but it was quite a small portion. We also shared the vegan Edam fried cheese. This is the national dish of the Czech Republic. Usually I steer clear of vegan cheese, but as it's the only time I've seen a vegan option of this traditional dish, I decided to risk it. And I'm glad I did, it was delicious! I'd recommend this even to sceptics.

The crepes for dessert were also really good, especially the chocolate and yoghurt one. It's all reasonably priced, and service is fast once you've placed your order. Shame about the smokiness!

Pros: Lots of traditional Czech dishes, Fried cheese!

Cons: Smoking allowed

Still popular but not always satisfied

Vegalité was one of the most favourite restaurant&pub in one for me, but it is not now. I always loved the style - they usually serve a typical Czech&Slovak food, which is NOT healthy and people love it, except daily menu 11-14 you can smoke there, but there is also possibility to eat in the separated room, where smoking is forbidden during all day. There is also special Thursday offer of beers made in microbreweries, so you can support local production. But about half year ago, the quality of food highly DECREASED. I do not know why, if they changed the chef and cooks, but the food is horrible, but the one, which you can normally fry on the pan, they use fryer instead of it. It is discusting, when your robi protein "meat" is full of old, stinking oil. You want ot cut it and you see only OIL! Of course the taste is the same as appearance. But if you choose food, which is not fried, it reaaaallly OK and tasty. And I want to add, that they probably use marinade for a short time, because sometimes it doesnt have "any" taste - what is the most imporant in vegan reastaurant, you know :) I hope they will do better.

Pros: Czech&Slovak food, smoking, beer, tattoed service, price, friendly atmosphere

Cons: Grassy food and also taste, sometimes undercooked
