Excellent vegan eats - Edit
VEGA served really great food. We had the croquettes, a quinoa bowl and seitan “steak”. All were full of flavour, arrived quickly and were well presented. The staff were very friendly. This place does get busy so probably best to book. We walked off the street and were lucky to score a table.

Unfriendly staff - Edit
“Your kid should try meat” the waiter told me when he found out my 5 years old son was vegan. Me trying to keep an open mind with a big smile: “that is an interesting perspective, I never heard something like that coming from a vegan (I just assumed he was as he works in a vegan restaurant) would you mind to elaborate, please? ” Waiter: “It is a very interesting perspective because my mum made me very smart” he said sarcastically and continue saying “do you think I have the time to explain myself now?” and left.
Read moreI guess that is the moment where I should have left taking also into consideration the first rude waiter that didn't even want to give us a table in the first place. But I stayed, as it was late and the kid needed to eat and there was no other vegan place/shop open around. .
The food arrived:
Salad with tofu and cheese in an overwhelming dressing that covered any layer of flavour in the salad. Oskar refused to eat it, I don’t blame him.
Mushrooms croquettes. They had a nice taste and the vegan mayo that came with it was delicious. Oskar didn’t like it either.
Focaccia bread with veggies and melted cheese on top. I thought this would be a simple open sandwich but it was a big thing, bread and veggies, everything cut really thick, not kid friendly and cheese on top melted. Oskar didn’t like anything about this, the taste of the cheese, or the big pieces of mushy veggies.
Chocolate mousse. This was a huge glass filled with this thick beyond sweet chocolate. After 4 spoons Oskar said he didn’t want anymore. That overpowering sweet it was that even a 5 year old kid cannot tolerate.
While we were paying I could hear the first rude waiter being really friendly with the table next to us. Nobody asked us if we were happy with the food, especially when they saw we didn't eat much.
We didn’t feel welcome and the food was matching the staff attitude.
I wrote this review to the the owner of the place first, and he apologised for the comment of the waiter towards my kid veganism, although the annoying bit was the answer that he gave me. Even though I elaborate in the email I sent him how his staff didn't want to give us a table, didn't even ask how many we were, couldn't recommend child friendly food or didn't ask us if we were happy with the food, especially leaving everything almost untouched, the manager email me back saying that there are 2 sides of the story and he was very happy with his team. He offered a free meal, that I refused to have.
Pros: location, it is vegan, nice decoration
Cons: disrespectful staff, not just rude , food too manipulated, manager answer in favor of his staff

Really worth the wait for this place! I would recommend booking in advance if possible as it gets busy (even at 22.00 on a Sunday evening as we found out!). Very beautifully prepared meals and staff were brilliant.

Parece q no quieren atenderte - Edit

Really enjoyed Vega! I was dining alone and sat at the bar, and still had to wait. It is very busy so plan ahead with reservations or allow time to wait. But make sure you get to Vega when in Madrid!

Favorite Restaurant in Madrid - Edit
This is by far the best vegan restaurant I've been to. I would highly recommend eating here, the food is always amazing. Not the friendliest wait staff, but their food always makes up for it! If you see anything on the menu with the vegan aioli, GET IT!

Absolutely Delicious - Edit
My (omni) boyfriend and I visited here in December '17 and it was easily the best meal I had on the entire trip. It's a tiny, cozy place, so try to go early to beat the rush. A lot of people got turned away while we were eating because they were so full.
Read moreThe menu is served as a 3-course meal. The soup that came first was absolutely ridiculous. I'm normally ambivalent about soup but my bf and I couldn't stop raving over this. Then our meals came and they were equally delightful--some of the most flavorful food I've ever eaten.
I HIGHLY recommend this spot.
Pros: Great food, Cute space
Cons: Crowded and busy

incredible food; casual atmosphere - Edit
I was in Madrid for an overnight layover and made my way here for dinner on a Saturday night. I was concerned about not having appropriate clothes given the other reviews describing this place as “fancy.” The food was certainly elevated, but the atmosphere was casual, friendly, and welcoming. The “burrata” was outstanding, as was the black rice with “squid.” I was too full for dessert, but the tiramisu at the table next to me made me wish I had time to return for more. My two dishes plus fresh-squeezed lemonade was $26 (€22).

This restaurant is incredible! Everytime I go they usually have something different to offer and it is outstanding! They know how to make things that the taste like forbidden food:-) my suggestion is to eat there for lunch and not dinner because the prices are so much more reasonable for lunch.

Delicious and excellent food. Non Spanish customers may be helped by a mention of the fact that cold soups are often served in Madrid, gazpacho I think it is called, it is meant to be cold.

Great vibes and good food - Edit
Vega is a very good place to have a drink with friends while eating some good vegan food. I tried the tofu skewers with noodles, tasty but relatively small if you are very hungry. Prices are fair (not the cheapest place), the staff is friendly and the place has good vibes. You should book your table if you wanna eat because is is quite small and often crowded.

I loved this place! Super cozy with great food and good service. It was packed on Saturday around lunch (3pm), so you may have to wait if with a group. I sat at the bar, and Abraham took care of me - he suggested the focaccia, which was delicious!
