Stylish vegetarian restaurant not far from Hoan Kiem lake. On the menu are dishes like fresh or deep fried spring rolls, macadamia pineapple fried rice, hotpots, soups. Prices are slightly higher than other veg places. English menu available. Open Mon-Thu 7:30am-9:30pm, Fri-Sun 7:30am-10:00pm.

Mostly vegan fine dining

I would come here again and again. You are welcomed with a little lemongrass tea shot. Then you are given a menu that looks like a book with endless options. Staff are so welcoming. The food is so tasteful and presented beautifully. I recommend ordering a few options to share so you can try multiple dishes. As if the food couldn’t get any better the drinks were amazing. Do yourself a favour and GO!

Excellent

Very good food. Agree with poster who described as refined dining. Had sticky rice with 3 different toppings and Tom yum soup. Service was very good. Have mix of alcohol and non-alcoholic cocktails.

Unique and Plenty of Options

This was easily the most "refined" vegan dining experience I had during my time in Vietnam. While that also comes with a slightly higher price tag as compared to other Vietnamese restaurants, I would not say it was extremely expensive. The options were plentiful (too many maybe, was so confused as to what to order!), and the flavours fresh. The dishes and presentation were unique, and the place had a really nice ambience too. Highly recommend if you want a change from the street food style dining experience.

Pros: Ambience, Options, Flavours

Lovely fine dining spot

The presentation of dishes and the location/atmosphere definitely steal the show here, but the food was also really good. We had some interesting dishes that felt like different takes on local ingredients. Al were good.

When we were there about half of the drinks menu was unavailable which was disappointing, they also don't serve alcohol (the mojito is without alcohol).

A great festive place for a quiet date night in the middle of busy Hanoi.

Really good vietnamese food. Try vegan Hot Pot.
Some orders will arrive very late.

Great ambience

This a nice fine dining place with great ambience which you have to make a reservation. We made ours through our hotel. The food is delicious with great presentation. There's English menu. The waiters spoke limited English but we managed to communicate through Google translate.

Cons: Expensive, Limited english

Good, not Great

A good meal but not a great one. The space is incredibly impressive and it is so encouraging to see a Vegetarian joint enjoying the success that UU Dam Chay has enjoyed.

The Pesto Rice and the Pad Thai noodles were both very nice. The Mushroom tempura platter was oily and under seasoned. The fried tofu was nice but the tofu with the young rice crumb wasn't great. The Vegan options were not marked and I am not sure everything we ended up ordering was Vegan :(

The service wasn't great but maybe we went on a day when it was incredibly packed and busy. Considering the prices, this was quite disappointing.

It was challenging to place an order because of the abundance of options but mainly because the menu felt like a text book – it might have been more than 50 pages in total. It's very hard to scan and make up your mind. Most fancy Vegetarian places in Vietnam have this kind of menu and it's not a great way to help people make up their minds! Overall, in Vietnam, we really loved our meals in the smaller, home-like restaurants than the fancier spots like UU Dam.

Amazing presentation and flavors

All dishes and drinks are very well presented, picture-worth, and very flavorful. Only small complain is that vegan options are not clearly marked on the beautiful menus.

Pros: Presentation, Flavor

Cons: Vegan options not marked, ingredients not listed

Good choice

Lots of great options, however staff were a little unsure when asked about ingredients regarding vegan food.

Overpriced

This place is expensive for what you get.. needs more flavour and really small portions.. they did a real good effort on presenting it really Nice and original, but for me the Taste is still the most important.. would definitely not go back..

A Treat for Diners Who Love Visuals. Beautifully Plated Food.

If you enjoy the visuals of food and restaurant spaces, I believe you will enjoy eating at Uu Dam Chay. The restaurant offers a very specific experience, so it is not suitable for everyone, which is OK.

I personally enjoyed my experience at Uu Dam Chay a lot. Walking underneath a canopy with lights is necessary before you enter the restaurant building. I thought that canopy was grand!

The best dishes I experienced were:

the Noodle Platter with an assortment of side ingredients, including starfruit;

the mini hot pot with veggies;

the mango sticky rice dessert (with 5 scoops of rice in 5 different colors).

I agree that this is not the type of place that you would eat at every week, but it is a great place when you want a special treat and experience.

Vegan Fine Dining

I went here with my Vietnamese family and we enjoyed it so much! They have a great amount of fancy vegan dishes. It’s worth going there, if you wanna eat somewhere stylish and tasty. Maybe worth if you want to celebrate something since it’s pretty expensive for Vietnamese food.

Pros: aesthetically beautiful dishes, tasty food, pretty place

Fancy eating

This restaurant is definitely for those who likes to eat/dine with style or some special opportunities. The food was good and service friendly. The prices corresponding to the style for the restaurant, so be ready to spend some dongs there.

Ok food, bad service

The restaurant itself is very cozy, but the energy and negative vibe from the staff, ruined the whole experience. The food was ok, but not a place I would come back to for more.

Cons: Lack of vegan options, unless you want salad

Huge vegetarian menu

Two independent people recommended checking out this place. We went there for dinner. Looked at the menu and wanted to orderer a few dishes that looked great (two soups and a tofu dish). Sadly three of those dishes were not vegan and couldn't be made vegan. The items on the menu are not labeled as vegetarian / vegan so u have to wait for the waiters to come to confirm.

We ended up ordering a mushroom soup (was very small, I didnt like the flavors even though I like mushrooms), fried tofu dish with tomato sauce - pretty tasty, Nem vuong and rice with seaweed - good!

For dessert we ordered a fruit soup - very interesting flavours.

Overall, you can tell they put a lot of effort in making so many vegan and vegetarian food.

Pros: Lots of vegetarian options. Very unique cousins.

Cons: Expensive. Some food comes in a very small portion

Pricey but lovely

Definitely our most expensive meal in Vietnam but the restaurant itself is absolutely stunning and a very zen space to spend time. food was tasty also. I had the pecan soup and it was very buttery, never had anything quite like it and it was delicious. My partner had Tom yum soup and it was very good. We then shared the sticky rice platter...the coconut sauce was to die for!! We also shared the mushroom fried a dish, bit bland but good texture. This plus coffee and water was around £21 which for Vietnam is pricey but everything was beautifully presented so I didn't mind too much.

Overrated

Overpriced for small portions, seasoning not on point and we got a burned sauce. The cocktails weren't that good either. Only good thing here was the nice setting and the quiet environment. The waiters were also very friendly

Pros: Lots of options, Nice interior

Cons: Expensive, Small portions, Bad seasoning

Incredible salads

Had the mango avocado salad that came as summer rolls and the lotus salad - both packed with flavour and delicious combinations of fragrant, sweet, sour and salty. Pricey but worth it if you want to treat yourself!

Nutritious meals

Our 1st visit. Environment is good. Restaurant is big. Foods are nice, just a little too bland for the lotus leaf rice. And portion are small. Many staff around, but only 1-2 staff can speak good English and listen well. Expensive meals too, so don't think would visit again. It's however a good experience to visit at least once for the environment.

Good but not mind blowing

I was really looking forward to coming here. We went for lunch after walking around Hanoi on a very hot day. The restaurant was beautifully decorated, good bathroom and hand washing facilities and air conditioning was a dream. The menu is fairly extensive. The food was mostly good with the exception of a weird sushi dish. Service was ok but not great.

Good drinks but imo food lacked flavour for the price :-/

They need to make their lives easier by labelling vegan!

Staff were nice and helpful when asked but otherwise inattentive lol.

I personally would only come here for the drinks thought the green banana curry was good!

Style over substance

First impressions were great - lovely decor, friendly staff, creative menu with good photos, the drinks we ordered were well presented and delicious. However when our food arrived we were very disappointed, it was beautifully presented but lacked any flavour. A lot of the meals seemed to have to be assembled yourself and it was difficult to eat to get the best flavour (if any) Tempura was oily. Vegan options weren’t marked and descriptions didn’t match, we ordered one item that sounded vegan (tofu with green rice) then was informed it had a yogurt and cheese sauce. Expensive for what it is, not worth the money.

Good but not enough for that price

Good food but at this price it should simply be better. Service is good but lacks focus and it becomes hard to get attention when they are all playing and chatting together. However our waiter had several good recommendation. Yet we couldn't even say goodbye as for our last 15mins there he did not stop talking to the bar and didn't even notice we were leaving. Just keep looking at the floor no matter what, serving 101.
Cocktails were very basic
Menu is just too much, too many options, too complicated, you end up having 100 ok dishes rather than 20-30 fantastic ones.
Like that they make the effort of using eatable container such as carved pineapple or dinner roll.
Enjoyed the pine nut soup and the fried tofu with green rice the most.
Refreshing to see this kind of ambience but unfortunately they fail to deliver at a high level.

Pros: Good service, Eatable containers

Cons: Menu too complicated, Too expensive for what you get
