A new Berlin gem. - Edit

We tried Umi on our first night in Berlin and really enjoyed our dinner. Tasty and generous food, a good choice of drinks (the Riesling was good) and friendly service. Would recommend highly to vegans, veggies and just anybody that enjoys food!

Pros: All vegan, Friendly service, Value for money

Cons: Quite empty, but it’s new and it was a Monday!

Another Vegan Vietnamese Restaurant - Edit

I went here with a friend yesterday evening for dinner. The medium-sized restaurant was basically empty.

The interior design was dark and stylish. There was quite a lot of black and wood and the light was a warm yellow. There were Asian and Buddhist decorations here and there like a little shrine (probably buddhist) next to us and huge paintings of Asian landscape and the Buddha on some walls.

The menu contained tons of different dishes and drinks. There were starters, salads, soups, flying noodles, normal noodles, a banh bao burger, rice dishes, something called "sot", bowls, 7 pages of sushi, desserts and tons of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

I had the #40 Udon xao pho with vegan shrimp (13,90€). Unfortunately, a huge mistake by me. I didn't know it was shrimp!😒All vegan schrimp I'd ever tried had tasted like rubber and while this was the best vegan shrimp I've had it was still not to my liking. The rest of the dish was alright.

I think I'll need to give Umi Vegan a second chance but there's a lot of competition when it comes to vegan Vietnamese restaurants in Berlin, and I doubt it will be better than my favorites Kong Vegan 385 and Sora. Still, the more vegan restaurants the better!
