A must for any Honolulu vacation! - Edit
If you are looking to find authentic vegan Hawaiian food, this is the place. I got the lunch plate and choose the kalo stew for one of my entrees, and it was so good. They also have other types of foods as well. If you come between 10:45 am and 11:45 am, you get a small discount, so I got my bowl of salad, rice, and two entrees for less than $10 with tax. You really can't beat that in Honolulu.

Great little place, Awesome food - Edit
Just visiting from out of town. I tried the Gyro with mock chicken and a side of pasta salad... all excellent! Everything on the extensive menu is vegan. A great variety of Indian and Mexican-inspired dishes and traditional fare. The staff were super nice. Glad I stopped!

Awesome and lovingly prepared - Edit
I enjoyed a Vegetarian Society of Hawaii gathering here with kind friends and fantastic flavors! I can still remember the dessert made with macadamias and mango. A heavenly sweet for sure!!

Great Spot! - Edit
You'd be hard pressed to find a restaurant that puts more aloha into their food. Fresh, local, made with care.
Read moreAs the reviewer below noted, it's not on Bishop Street but on Hotel between Bishop and Alakea. Clean, modern, reasonably priced. (Several of Honolulu's best vegetarian options are located within a few blocks of each other in the downtown - not Waikiki - area.) Note that they don't stay open late - try to get there before 2 PM.

Now, All Vegan!!! - Edit
So pleased to see that Umeke Market is now all vegan! And, so delicious! I had brown rice, kalo curry, Korean “chikken”, and collard greens. So Ono! Earlier in the day, we got a cinnamon roll to share - yum!

Delicious - with a Hawaiian accent - Edit
Generous portions, very low fat lunches with some local flavor. Kalo (taro) curry, black bean enchiladas, 'pono' chili (a bit on the sweet side), pasta with a full bodied 'meat'sauce, and some really tasty deserts. The plate lunch includes two scoops of brown rice and two entrees for $10, one entree for 8.50. Very cheerful and helpful service.

Good Food - Good Service - Edit
If you work downtown, the location is good too. They are on the Hotel St side of Bishop Square/Tamarind Park. Supposedly they are known for their Pono Chili. But I really love their Crispy Burrito!! The people there are really friendly and helpful, especially when I first went there and had all kinds of questions about their menu and their "punchcard" reward program. They recently added a kalo burger, waiting to see if they will offer a CHILI BURGER option. Now dat sounds ONO!! :)

Boiled food? Good dessert. - Edit
Stopped here while in Honolulu because of reviews. Was not very impressed. Though my lunch items were healthy, they were boiled to the point they were kind of gross and without flavor. Collard greens were good. The redeeming feature was some of the best vegan cinnamon rolls I have ever had!

Highlight of my trip to Honolulu - Edit
I spent a week in Hawaii and tried to get down as much vegan food as possible, and was pleasantly surprised by the food scene in the state as a whole. One thing that would have been under my radar was Mama T's, when a friend had taken me there I didn't know what to expect.
Read moreChalkboard menu, family owned place, everything was fresh made daily and when they were out they were out.
Kept balance by having raw tacos that I was a bit skeptical of at first, moving from Austin Texas I have high standards of tacos and wasn't sure about raw... one bite later I was sold.
Also had a veggie burrito that was delicious, and this is coming from a guy living in a 90% Latino neighborhood in South Central Texas.
Mama T and her crew were working and super kind, her daughter was a very upbeat child who was having fun with us with her video making app.
I'm very excited to move back to Honolulu and eat her food again... like 3 days a week for the next decade.
