Cute Dessert Cafe - Edit
I've been to Tori's Bakeshop a couple of times with friends, and it's always a nice experience going. It's in a pleasant part of Toronto (and this is coming from a girl who's not too fond of the big city), really close to the beach, so it's great to have a coffee, dessert, and then go for a day at the beach (or a walk along it). I've tried a few different desserts there, and they never fail to impress me! Especially their gluten-free donuts. I'm not gluten-intolerant myself, but finding a gluten-free baked good that has amazing taste and texture is always great for those who are. So if you're in that category, I'd recommend Tori's for you! The atmosphere inside is great too. It's really cozy. I should really consider bringing some school work there to study and snack on desserts and coffee all day one of these days :)

Excellent After Hours service - Edit
This is an update to my previous review now that I have been to their AfterHours service. I went with 3 friends (2 omnis and 1 vegetarian). Everyone loved it.
Read moreThe menu was more pared down than what was on their website because they rotate the specific pasta, pizza and "protein" options.
All servings were very big and excellent for sharing between 4 people.
My favourites from the night were the cheese slab (specifically the chevre, OMG so good), mushrooms, creme brulee and truffles. Some of the favourites from my guests were the smoked cheese/gouda, BBQ seitan (a bit too chewy for me) and the pistachio cake.
I look forward to returning for more.
Of note, I highly recommend reservations. It is a small place and gets booked up quickly, especially the bigger tables.
As well, I tried their dessert sampler at VegFest and everything was delicious. The cookie was a bit cakey as was the donut, and still very good.
Pros: variety, nut cheese, taste
Cons: expensive, rich meals

Loved it! - Edit
Had a delicious dinner at Tori's recently, and it fit the bill. Loved the pizza and breads were super fresh. Dessert was yummy too! I'd add more, but it was a few weeks back, and my memory is overwhelmed by all the other vegan restos I've been to recently. That said, I remember having a great meal that I enjoyed it.

Quality Food makes After Hours a crowd-pleaser - Edit
I am reviewing Tori's After Hours only, since other reviews focus on the daytime cafe & bakery. We were a party of 5 tonight, consisting of 2 vegans & 3 omnivores. We decided on a variety of dishes to share, as suggested by Tori's menu heading "Sharing Platters".
Read moreTo start, we had the Olives and the Cheese Platter, both savoury, delicious fatty goodness. We followed with Pizza, Gnocchi and Scallion Pancakes with Seitan (names are not exact). The server provided some tasty house-made marinated hot peppers which I enjoyed with the pizza & pancake dishes. We ended with creme brulee & chef's dessert, a strawberry-rhubarb crumble with vanilla ice cream. I thought each dish was delicious, nicely presented & the flavours were well-balanced. I could not pick a favourite, they were all excellent.
The gnocchi were served with a creamy sauce, crispy mushrooms & fresh pea shoots that brightened up the dish. The pizza was on a light but crisp olive oil crust with marinara, vegan bocconcini (omg!) & fresh basil. The scallion pancakes arrives in crispy segments & were accompanied by seitan topped with a creamy sauce & caramelized onions, all of them flavourful & complimentary to the pancakes.
My only critique is minor & regards the menu in general: I wish there was one dish with more protein (tofu/beans/lentils). I should note that while there is seitan in the pancake dish, it is more of an accompaniment to the pancakes, which were the main component. To be fair, I do not know what Tori's uses in the pancake batter & it could very well be silken tofu or chickpea flour & thus have a high protein content.
Also, I should add that our choices were quite carb-heavy tonight & there were a couple of vegetable dishes that we opted out of including sauteed mixed mushrooms, grilled vegetables, & the chef's special - green bean salad. When deciding what to order tonight, the vegetable dishes seemed too straight-forward but since we were so impressed with our meal tonight, I plan to try them in the future.
The total before tipping came to $150, including alcohol & taxes. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal, found it very omnivore-friendly & appropriate for a nice night out. The ingredients are organic & very fresh, and everything is made in-house, including the bread & crackers. You can taste the quality & it is one of those rare all-vegan places you can safely bring an omnivore & not worry about "weirding them out". Reminiscent of Ottawa's Zen Kitchen, sadly now closed.
Pros: organic ingredients, high quality food, large wine selection (all vegan!)
Cons: none

great vegan shop - Edit
have eaten here a view times. Their sweets are great. They have 4 vegan sandwiches and I have tried all of them. Both grilled "cheeses" are good and the BLT sandwich is great. The grilled veg sandwich is a bit bland, needs something- capers or tempeh or shitake mushrooms,- something with more flavor. The shop is nice and bright but they have few seats and they fill up quickly! They also run out of their sandwiches as their chef leaves mid-day so the selection is lower in the latter part of the day. Oh and their vegan hot chocolate is very good!

Tori's Bakeshop equals Awesomeness! - Edit
I've been a vegan for over 16 years, and finding this place was a true treasure. The scones are amazing! The coffee is killer, the drinks are great, the cupcakes, donuts, and anything else in the display case tasted wonderful, and had a fantastic texture - wouldn't know these items were vegan. The store is really cute, and it is in a great location, a bit outside the city, but only a block or two from the beach front on Lake Ontario - don't miss this place.

Tori's Bakeshop - Edit
Lots of tasty options if you are looking to please the sweet tooth or hungry for something more, Tori's has it. We got a bunch of the goodies, including the broccoli scone and cinnabon rolls which were impressive and tasty.

cute place - Edit
Very cute shop in the Beaches. Mix of gluten and gluten free pastries and desserts, which is nice to have. A lot of gluten free desserts in Toronto are too salty or make gravy in your mouth, so I am relieved some of Tori's stuff is made with wheat! Lots to choose from. Unfortunately I can't remember if I thought it was expensive or not. (Bunners is a little too expensive.)
Read moreUPDATE: I've been to Tori's quite a few times now and I will admit I'm liking the savory stuff more than the sweet stuff. There's a smokey coconut sandwich to die for and a really grand cheeze and broccoli scone. The sweets are good, but not quite "interesting" enough for me to bike 40 in to get there. But there aren't really many INTERESTING vegan baked goods in Toronto anyway...

Fantastic! - Edit
Heading all the way out to the beaches was a bit of a lengthy journey from where we were and so we were hoping that our excursion to Tori's wouldn't end in disappointment. Far from it! Everything we got was amazing! (And we got rather a lot, as there were five of us.)
Read moreThe best thing to me were the croissants, as after going vegan I had pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I'd never eat a croissant again. But nope: Tori's has perfectly flaky and delicious vegan croissants. The cinnamon buns were delicious. The cupcakes were delicious. The cookies were delicious. The doughnuts were delicious. The coffees were delicious. The biscotti was delicious. I feel reasonably comfortable generalizing that probably absolutely everything there was delicious.
The cafe itself is lovely. Cute decor, sunny, and friendly. The staff seemed genuinely happy to be there, happy to please, and as though they took great pride in their goods.

Best vegan bakery in Toronto! - Edit
I love Tori's. I'll happily bike out there despite several closer spots just cos it's so perfect.
Read more1. It's really cute. It has a nice atmosphere, plenty of seating and is tastefully decorated.
2. Wonderful staff. Everyone is so friendly and happy to help even when you're indecisive and have a hard time picking from all their baked goods!
3. Really yummy sweets. They have a nice selection of baked goods including the usual suspects like cookies, brownies and cupcakes and harder to find things: butter tarts, lemon tarts, donuts.
4. Savoury items! Tori's has the best savoury scones and biscuits. Their scones are so fluffy and moist and rich and wonderful. And they come in flavours like mushroom & thyme and cheddar daiya & broccoli. They also have sammiches like a blt (with coconut bacon) and a grilled veg.
It can be a little pricey but seems to be roughly the same amount as other vegan bakeries in Toronto. Overall, I'd highly recommend it.
Pros: yummy, good variety, nice atmosphere & pleasant staff
