Good vibes, nice food - Edit
Nice little find with good food, but not all the cake options on the menu were available. Nevertheless still a wide variety and very tasty!

Delightful vegan cafe - Edit
You can get a load of typical cafe fare here - toasties, pastries, smoothies - and all very reasonably priced and tasty. They have tables indoors but also a big patio outdoors with trees which is surprisingly quiet considering it's right by a fairly busy road. I'd definitely recommend outdoors, and the wifi extends well outside so it would be perfect for working.
Read moreThe hot food kitchen (doing chilli and some other dishes) shuts at 3, but I arrived at 4 and still had a lovely smoked tofu quiche, blueberry croissant and biscoff smoothie. It was already reasonably priced (this all came to just under £14) but then students get a 10% discount on top! Very impressed.

Just ok - Edit
I had the burger, it was ok, but not something I’d order again. Cakes looked nice, but I didn’t try any.

Cool café/shops - Edit
Really lovely cafe, had the burger and berry smoothie which were really nice and my friend had the quiche. Food took 25/30 mins to come as stated but didn’t matter because it gave time to look around the zero waste store and thrift shop attached😄

I love it here! The staff are super friendly, loads of seating available inside and outside, really yummy food and board games if you fancy chilling a little longer. Recommend the blueberry muffin and scrambled tofu 🥐💚 Great location, dog friendly and good value. Wil definitely be back soon.

Really good hearty start to day - Edit
Really lovely food options, we were just passing thru so a one off visit for us, we tried various dishes and shared. The granola was really delicious, cinnamon pancakes were good too. Croissants were big and fresh out the oven at 10.05am. Good tea and cake options. There was an issue with our pancakes which they corrected immediately with good customer service. Would eat here regularly if we lived nearer. Parking outside was restricted to 2hr parking metre which is free BHs and Sundays. There are a few board games which we enjoyed use of.

Delicious waffles and cozy cafe! - Edit
The menu has vastly improved since they streamlined it to the "waffles only" menu. I tried the brunch waffle, the spicy jackfruit waffle and the TRT waffle sandwich (tempeh, rocket, tomato) and all three were amazing! Generous portions and all three were unique and delicious.
Read moreThe cakes change daily - I had a chocolate caramel cupcake (light, moist and moreish!), and a gingerbread hot chocolate with whipped cream and a tiny gingerbread person on top.
Additionally, the cafe is beautifully decorated, full of plants and lively chatter, with comfy chairs and smiling staff. Couldn't ask for more really!
Pros: Delicious waffles, Changing selection of cakes, Cozy environment
Cons: Maybe a bit on the expensive side

Inconsistent - Edit
I don’t think I’ve received a single order that was entirely correct. The food is definitely good but it’s all a bit disorganised.

Visited again last week and had their mushroom waffle which was to die for. Review rating still stands but happy to return and be convinced they may be improving.

New vegan cafe with large outdoor seating area - Edit
This place just opened up and is already a highlight of vegan food in Cambridge. The large outdoor seating area is a massive draw, especially as it's fully non-smoking and the tables are spaces far apart.
Read moreThere are several classic café dishes (both vegan favourites and vegan versions of traditionally non-vegan dishes). It's a bit more expensive than I would expect a similar non-vegan café to be.
I ordered the tofish and chips (£12), which comes with peas and tartare sauce. I thought it was really great quality. They used small amounts of seaweed in the battered tofish, which gave it more of a seafood feel than vegan substitutes usually have. It thought it the tofish still slightly lacked flavour and could have done with more of the seaweed or another seasoning. Overall the meal was delicious, and I would definitely recommend it.
I'll definitely be going back to try more of their dishes.
Edited January 2022: This place has become a staple of Cambridge vegan food. They now do waffles, which are some of the best I've had! The All day brunch waffle is delicious (including the bacon!), and the tofu scramble is moist enough that the waffle isn't dry. The Cacao waffle somehow manages to be an amazing dessert waffle without tasting too sweet.

Really dissapointed - Edit
My friend and I were so excited to try this place. Unfortunately the food and coffee was awful. I initially ordered a coffee with oat milk and it was so bitter I couldn’t have more than one sip. I went to the counter and asked for soya instead because it was so bitter. The manager charged me even though I returned the other. Then I ordered the “bacon” sandwich with avo and extra tofu and my friend ordered the granola. Both were so so salty. I love salt but it was like they dropped the whole box of salt inside. I decided to speak to the manager because we spent a lot and weren’t happy at all. She said she hadn’t received any complaints on the food and that it was not that salty but that she would give us a refund for the food items. She did offer to make me a new one but since the seitan was already made I decided not to make the same mistake. Unfortunately I won’t be returning to this place again. Far better options out there with better service too.

such a great atmosphere and community feel! thrive has such lovely staff and incredible food. they truly are a force for good in cambridge, i can't recommend enough. i'm not sure if they still do them, but the loaded sweet potato fries were insane. i also got my birthday cake from here and it was easily the best vegan cake i've ever had.

Amazing Food - Edit
Thrive serve great food and coffee. I tried the tofish and chips and it was probably one of the best 'fish' & chips I've ever eaten! Between 3 people, we ordered and polished off 5 tempeh bacun baps. Everything was great.

The Vegan Heart of Cambridge - Edit
Thrive is Cambridge's answer to the huge demand for (independent) vegan eateries and it has become an instant classic.
Read moreThey cover much of the vegan communities' needs including a place for all day breakfast, coffee and cake, lunch, dinner, take away, drinks and light bites, community events, somewhere to work away from home or to meet with people or to have your favourites delivered at home!
They were amazing throughout lockdown and the various Covid-19 related restrictions and, while still not operating at full capacity they are now once again offering indoor seating.
The food is varied and of high quality from familiar classics such as the Tofish and Chips to not-your-avarage-curries where the vegetables take centre stage. In the light bites category the sandwiches and specially the tempeh 'bacon' roll deserve a mention.
They have a vast range of cakes and pastries which are temptingly displayed. The cake of the day, the blueberry croissants and the Jaffa cakes are my go-to staples. They also have a good selection of loose leaf teas and they make their coffee and hot chocolate with local Cambridgeshire oat milk!
The staff is always friendly and happy to accommodate. They are also a dog friendly cafe which is quite rare for this city!
The place is decorated in soothing natural tones, hundreds of plants and different artwork by local artists that changes every few months. The cups and saucers are made by local pottery artisans, they offer yoga classes in a separate community space, they even have a bike-only local delivery service. Everything about Thrive lives and breathes community and local entrepreneurship, always with sustainability in their mind. That is why I love to go there again and again, it is a place I like to see Thrive!
Pros: Independent , Large indoor spaces, Good cake selection
Cons: Toilets are not accessible to wheelchair users

Excellent food - Edit
Lovely cafe, nice atmosphere. We had light bites, lemon and herb crusted tofu with wild rice, dried apricot and spring onion dressing, and creamy hummus, crisp chickpeas, red onion, with za'tar flatbread crisps, both dishes were beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. After we had red velvet cake and a chocolate and caramel cheesecake, again just amazing and completely vegan. Fantastic, we will return.
Read morePros: Lots of vegan food, excellent value for money
Cons: Could be closer to home.
