Cold average Brunch. Good coffee and service - Edit
I really want to love this place as the coffee, ambience, and service are quite good.
Read moreBut the food ….. I’ve been there for Brunch twice and both times the food came late and arrived cold, and it wasn’t very busy. They were very quick to fix it by microwaving it, although I would’ve appreciated a freshly toasted bread.
My partner had the Big Breakfast, it was Very Disappointing, the one sausage was very overcooked and dry, both hash browns were undercooked, the bread slice was barely toasted and had large chunks of butter on top (more butter than bread lol), you can’t go wrong with baked beans, and the tofu was dead cold too.
The Willo’s potatoes were quite tasty after heated up.
I would probably go back for the pastries and coffee, but probably not for other kind of food.
Pros: Ambience, Coffee, Pastries
Cons: Main menu

Had the toastie with mushrooms and onions and French fries. Probably the first time I have ever genuinely enjoyed vegan cheese! Very tasty.

Nice cakes & coffee - Edit
Their coffee and cakes are great (lemon poppy seed muffin is delicious and I really like their chai latte - they also offer a great selection of plant m*lks), but lunch menu is a bit disappointing- it doesn't offer many fresh, seasonal or veg-oriented options 😔, I had their toastie before which was just okay. I will be back for their cakes, but for lunch options I think I will look elsewhere.

I’m in here all the time. Always a great selection of cakes on offer, and one of the best coffees around in my opinion. Lunch is always absolutely delicious. I’ve taken lots of people here!

Tasty tofu scramble - Edit
Came here for brunch, got the tofu scramble on sourdough toast and paid extra for tempah bacon and avocado. The toast was good and tofu portion was huge and tasty but the extra avocado paid for was absolutely tiny. Coffee was also great and good size.

Friendly vegan café for any type of plant-based delight - Edit
Thrive has a very welcoming, friendly atmosphere from the moment you set foot in there. There are a lot of people working and studying, which creates a calm ambience. The staff was very friendly. The food was good and the vegan cheese actually tasted like something (for a change!). The bread is definitely of good quality. I only found the food a bit too greasy and a tad too salty. Unfortunately, the waiting time was quite long (30-40 minutes), although this was understandable considering how busy it was.

Pros: Very tasty cakes and sweet drinks, 100% vegan, Really lovely aesthetic
Cons: Quite expensive for what you get

Yeah ... We like to think we're priced about the same as other independent cafes in Cambridge (maybe even a bit cheaper once you take into account the extra they charge for oat milk etc) - but let us know if we got that wrong. We're trying to save where we can and try to give as good value for money as we can - but it's tough! I can assure you no-one is getting very rich at Thrive! :(

Brilliant last minute find - Edit
Found Thrive on this app when our lunch booking elsewhere fell through. Couldn't be happier that fate took a hand! We had the hotdog and nachos to share, then the caramel cheesecake and a slice of chocolate cake. Oatmilk lattes and a smoothie to drink. Everything was absolutely bang on, but a special shout out to that cheesecake... one of the best I've ever had, vegan or not. My non-vegan friend was totally blown away too, so thank you for helping to show him the right way is easy!

Tastey but maybe a little bit expensive - Edit
A side order of coleslaw was £2 and it was quite a small portion of red cabbage and red onion coleslaw. I also got a hot chocolate with whipped cream and once the whipped cream was gone there was about four mouthfuls of hot chocolate. Maybe just a little more coleslaw and a bigger cup for the hot chocolates? The bagel was also very salty, I’m not sure if it was the “bacon” or the bagel itself, but it was still edible, just someone had a heavy hand with the salt 😂.
Read moreOverall I would definitely go again if I come back to Cambridge. Staff were so friendly, the place looked amazing, it was warm and I loved all the plants everywhere 🥰 There was also a vintage shop attached and board games you could play!

We hear you! Bigger cups for hot choc are here! Salted bagels are off the menu - replaced by plain. Now just to work on the coleslaw... Thanks for visiting - hope to see you again.

Such comforting food and lovely service - Edit
The staff was so sweet and kind. The energy inside overall just so welcoming. Food tasted great and was fairly priced. Had a fake bacon sandwich and huge chocolate cake with homemade Baileys coffee. All tasted great! Only downside would be food presentation but who cares when it’s that honest and good. A Very homey feeling.

Love it! - Edit
My husband found Thrive through the Happy Cow app in May and boy am I glad he did!
Read moreVisited today with two kids in tow and loved the welcoming and laid back atmosphere. Food and drink wise....WOW. pretty simple menu which I liked. Its nice to have choice but without being bombarded by too many fancy things. Great toasties and loved the simple options like scrambled tofu on toast or houmous with crusty bread. The drinks options were much wider and more varied and my kids were very excited when the Biscoff smoothies were brought through!
Food was nicely presented and super tasty.
I'd highly recommend!
Pros: Totally Vegan!, Well priced , Laid back welcoming atmosphere

Delightful vegan cafe - Edit
You can get a load of typical cafe fare here - toasties, pastries, smoothies - and all very reasonably priced and tasty. They have tables indoors but also a big patio outdoors with trees which is surprisingly quiet considering it's right by a fairly busy road. I'd definitely recommend outdoors, and the wifi extends well outside so it would be perfect for working.
Read moreThe hot food kitchen (doing chilli and some other dishes) shuts at 3, but I arrived at 4 and still had a lovely smoked tofu quiche, blueberry croissant and biscoff smoothie. It was already reasonably priced (this all came to just under £14) but then students get a 10% discount on top! Very impressed.
