Excellent food - Edit
We went here for lunch, and were not disappointed. Great selection of food and good prices. We could even sit outside with our dog. The tofu avocado bagel is particularly brilliant.

Whale Tail of a time - Edit
My first visit to Lancaster (which I thoroughly recommend). Found Whale Tail on Happy Cow and enjoyed the visit. Had the flatbread with hummus, falafel and salad. Really good meal and the soup of the day was fabulous.

This was my second trip, but my first as VE. It was busy with great atmosphere. Staff clearly working hard and the food- amazing. I had the salad bowl, and it was huge (I couldn’t finish it).

Rude staff - Edit
I went to Lancaster with my partner for some breakfast, unfortunately the herbarium bar was closed so I suggested going to the whale tail, upon arrival the usual Covid restrictions were in place which, menus were not available on the tables so you had to get up to go and look at the food menu on one then walk to another board for the drinks and then go back to your seat to wait for your order to be taken, there were around 3 other customers in when we arrived and what seemed to be around 6-7 members of staff, after some time we were eventually approached to have our orders taken, we ordered two full vegan breakfasts, one of which we made amendments to swap beans and mushrooms for extra hash browns, two orange juices and a couple of coffee’s each, payment was taken as the coffees arrived, the breakfasts turned up and both had eggs on, I informed the memember of staff that I had ordered vegan ones to which one waitress said oh I didn’t hear you say vegan, they left our toast and took the breakfasts back to the serving hatch, the cafe is incredibly open plan so we could hear the staff moaning about their hate of wasting food and I saw the chef looking over in our direction and shaking their heads, so much for the customer is always right, the food turned up correct to out initial order and I apologised For the confusion (even though it wasn’t my fault ) and I didn’t receive a response from the waitress as she put our food Down and walked off, the toast hadn’t be replaced with the rest of the food so that had gone cold
Read moreBy this point and the orange juice never turned up, we both felt very awkward and didn’t feel like complaining further as we were already made to feel like it was our fault, so we just ate our food as quickly as we could and then left , overall it was a pretty miserable experience and we didn’t enjoy our brief time spent in the cafe, I would of liked to think maybe this was a one off but unfortunately I had a similar experience with a group of friends when we called in during a bike ride to have breakfast just after the cafes had opened back up after lockdown, they left the cafe that day saying they wouldn’t ever visit the place again but I thought I would give it another chance
Cons: Rude staff, Poor service

Excellent find - Edit
Having recently moved to near the Lancaster area we are on mission to sample all the veggie/vegan places in the City. Whaletail will be hard to beat. Quick efficient and friendly service. Excellent choice on the menu. Tasty food, reasonably priced. Will be returning for the all day breakfast on a Sunday.

Really good café near decent shopping. - Edit
The restaraunt is really nice inside, great decour and atmosphere. Wide selection of beverages such as varioues fruit juices. Does a really nice full english that can be ordered vegan, you even get extra sausage if you skip the egg. Staff are largely fantastic, though one server can be a bit abrupt. Highly recommended.

Pleasant and packed eatery - Edit
Mum and I stopped here for a bite a while back. It was packed but we managed to find a table. Great service considering the numbers enjoying their lunch. Although I found the food a little uninspiring it was satisfying and a good choice for a spot of lunch

Great meals - Edit
Been here regularly and it has always been consistent. The potato skins are my mums favourite and the tagine and dishes like that tend to be incredible. There are a few wine options and the crumble is brilliant. Bought the cook book and like to make things from this regularly.

Wonderful - Edit
I always visit the Whale Tail when I'm in Lancaster. Food is affordable and good - no, actually it's REALLY good. All food is vegetarian and much of it is vegan, specials change each day and there is also a fixed menu which includes breakfasts and snacks, and the famous Whale Tail Salad Bowl. Whale Tail also support local good causes and display art works by local artists. It's an absolute gem.

A trip to Lancaster isn't complete without visiting The Whale Tail. Had a lovely burger yesterday with the famous whale tail salad. Not really a salad at all but in fact a medley of coronation chickpeas, lentils, wholewheat pasta. So tasty and so filling. Highly recommend.

Best Vegan Cafe in Lancaster - Edit
Love the whale tail! The food is always amazing, I honestly can't remember a single disappointing meal here. There are tons of vegan options and everything is so clearly marked. It's always quite busy so there are times when there are no free tables but the food is always fairly quick. Best place to get vegetarian and vegan food in both Lancaster and Morecambe!

A fair few vegan options at this vegetarian cafe. Sadly missed breakfast which stops being served at 11:30 on a Saturday. BLT made up for it though.
