Yummy and enjoyable first meal in Amsterdam - Edit
We ordered the tofu coconut dish and bangain bharta (eggplant) (sorry for misspelling) dishes as mains and onion bhaji and curry naan as sides/starters. Everything was delicious with the right amount of heat. The naan wasn’t great (little bit dry). Service was very friendly.

Amazing place to go with non-Vegans - Edit
My fiance and I were struggling to find an Indian place with vegan dishes I wanted and he specifically wanted a chicken dish and wasn't willing to compromise on vegan chicken.
Read moreWhen I saw this place, I excitedly dragged him here. Make sure to specify you want the vegan menu when the server is going to grab menus.
We literally came back the next day because my fiance was craving the butter chicken he had. The vegan version was also delicious and we got vegan naan and we both agreed it was delicious.
Pros: Separate kitchen for vegan dishes, The easiest compromise for your non-vegan friends, Overall delicious food

The service was friendly but towards the end they were a bit hasty and they were closing soon. Food was okay, for that price I expect better quality and presentation.

Great Food - Edit
The restaurant is called „Bollywood“ and inside of that restaurant you can order the vegan manu. The variety of vegan options was extensive. We ordered 4 different meals and they were all very delicious. The food is kinda spicy, if you don’t like spicy food just tell the waiter.

Great take-out - Edit
I haven’t visited their restaurant, but we order here regularly when we want to eat takeout. Great authentic food which is actually spicy! The vindaloo makes your eyes water.
Read morePros: Actually spicy, no westernised stuff
Bobanthar
Vindaloo is derived from a Portuguese dish and the version you get outside of India is most often British! So a westernised, easternised dish, in fact.

Good food, not a vegan restaurant - Edit
The vegan restaurant is more of a vegan menu in the Bollywood restaurant than it’s own place, so it’s bit confusing. However, we had great food and the service was nice and clear. The eggplant and the meatless meatball curries were delicious! Mango lassi was okay, but I think a better plant milk alternative could be chosen for this (like coconut).

Good food - Edit
The food tastes good, the service is quick. Some more work on the desserts would be great. This ice cream on a stick looked and tasted cheap.

Mixed feelings - Edit
I visited the Vegan Indian recently on a Saturday.
Read moreAfter inquiring about the vegan menu downstairs, I was asked to stay on the ground floor, because they had a reservation of a large group for the upper floor.
The menu had a lot of yummy-sounding stuff in store.
The chicken saag tasted great, what a treat! The cheesy naan was also amazing, I enjoyed it a lot.
The raita was different to what I'm used to, but it was okay. The mango lassi was decent, but it was a bit too small, in my opinion.
Now, while I was eating, the announced group came - I have no idea how many people that where, at least 50, and I'm being completely serious. The whole restaurant, upstairs (I didn't see it, but judging by the amount of people that had gone up) and downstairs completely packed. They all had some sort of lunch, they ate fairly quickly, and half an hour later almost everybody was finished and gone again.
I have to say, everybody was considerate, I can't complain, but it was a pretty surprising event.
Contradictory to the information I found here on Happycow, the vegan dishes were prepared in the downstairs kitchen. Even though I found most of the food enjoyable, this can be quite the serious issue for some people. That's why I decide to give only three stars.

Delicious food - Edit
Food is delicious. They have “regular” and vegan menu so good spot to have a meal with non-vegan friends. Vegan options still have the authentic Indian taste.

Huge portions! - Edit
We enjoyed visiting The Vegan Indian. As other reviews say the service isn’t stellar, hence the four stars - but this isn’t something we were bothered by. The food was great but we clearly had eyes bigger than our belly because we couldn’t finish it all! Honestly I think if you’re going to get starters and/or sides, one meal is big enough for two but it was nice to try different dishes. We had samosas, vegan chicken biryani, vegan chicken tikka masala and garlic naan.

Sorry, but this is not a good place… - Edit
We had dinner and wanted to play it fancy with all varieties of options. But… service was very harsh, table wear was dirty… too bad considering the other reviews that were good. Maybe we went too late…

Inauthentic - Edit
Unfortunately the food did not meet the expectation, the flavours were dull and inauthentic. I haven’t tried other Indian restaurants in NL hence have no idea if this is the prevalent local palette adapted flavour…

Many vegan choices - Edit
As mentioned by others, it’s a restaurant that also serves meat with a separate vegan menu. But there were so many vegan options on that menu that it didn’t bother me. The food was tasty, however, we waited around 45 minutes until the food was served.

Verry good menu vegan available - Edit
The restaurant is very good. All the food is tasty and fresh and the potions are verry generous. Otherwise I didn't like that they pretend to be a vegan restaurant. The vegan indian dosn't exist, its just a menu vegan in the Bollywood restaurant. They do have a full and ellaborated vegan menu. Everything we tried was very very tasty. The rice is included and we didn't know so we had too much food. Its very expensive.

amazing vegan menu, missing nothing from your typical omnivore menu.
Read morewe had cheesy garlic naan, butter chicken and panir (tofu) tikka masala, comes with rice.
personally not a fan of the flavour of vegan cheese in the naan, but it melted well. the mock chicken was amazing, and the tofu is actually well marinated in spices of the dish. great flavour.
Pros: had all the vegan breads, inc. garlic cheesy naan, delicious marinated tofu dishes to sub paneer, All curries served with rice
