Tasty icecream

Had the chocolate soy soft serve ice cream. Pretty tasty although not strongly chocolate/sweet. Looked like they have savoury food too though I got there at end of the day so none looked that fresh.

Nice

Strawberry and chocolate soft serve, it's nice though it has quite a strong soy after taste. Had several other savory items on the menu.

Pros: Good texture, Cheap

Cons: After taste

Great vegan shorties

Veggie place that’s been open over 30 years - it’s now fully vegan. Great casual vegan place with lots of yummy options. They have vegan street food style options called Shorties. Don’t miss this if you’re in Kandy. Great soy vegan ice cream.

Pros: Flavor, Friendly staff , Ice cream

nice for vegan snacks and ice cream

As the person there said, all they slicer is vegan! So we could change that place to a fully vegan restaurant (i’ll try).
The snacks are cheap and very good (fast food fried stuff, sandwiches, wraps with soya meat). I had an ice cream (didn’t get the fancy one from the pictures but it was still nice, as it’s vegan soft ice and i rarely see that anywhere else).

Pros: Snacks!, vegan soft ice cream

Fantastic soft serve

I only had the soy ice cream as I went late and most things were sold out but it was definitely a bang for my buck! No-nonsense store selling delicious soft serve for an extremely reasonable price. I would have gone again if I had more days in Kandy to try out their other items!

Lovely fastfood

Very good fastfood place with great soy ice cream. They understand the concept of veganism which is also very nice. Cheap and delicious.

Top

Waren nachmittags dort und haben alles an Snacks probiert, was noch da war. War alles super. Danach noch ein Schoko-Eis, das etwas salzig, aber auch sehr lecker war. Draußen gibt es einige überdachte Sitzplätze ohne Tische.

Good ice cream

It’s a popular place. They sell also take away food like a kind of wrap or Hot Dog. The little ice cream was totally enough.

Amazing hidden gem

Food was amazing here! They have many different options of the local rotti/rolls with vegan filling (soy filling). Everything we had was incredibly tasty. The ice cream was a little too sweet for my taste, but that differs from person to person I guess. Very cheap and good! Totally recommend!

Amazing find

Soya rolls and pancakes are delicious, definitely stock up on some snacks for your day in Kandy! So cheap too.
Fantastic to be able to get a ‘mr whippy’ style ice cream in either chocolate, vanilla or Strawberry (or mix all three!!)

It’s a kiosk type venue with benches outside next to the YMCA - so not a sit-down place. A must-visit for any vegan in Kandy.

Wow - don’t let appearances deter you!

So his place looks a little shabby, and it’s up some steep stairs, when you get there it’s a little lack lustre, and very plain.
Eat everything! The food is amazing!
I read some of the other reviews that said don’t get pink ice cream, we’ll I ended up with the swirl of vanilla, choc & strawberry and it was amazing! I thought it would melt into a runny mess within 60 seconds, but it didn’t.
I also got a samosa, which was Devine (about 5-6 out of 10 on the chilli scale) and I got a roti(about 8 out of 10 chilli) and I got a coconut pancake - delicious! And it cost a respectable 750rp
Will definitely go back!

Don't get the strawberry

I tried the chocolate and strawberry mixed, the chocolate was okay, the strawberry was super weird, almost tasted salty. I highly recommend not ordering the strawberry. Overall not the best ice cream but it's vegan and in Sri Lanka so 4/5 stars.

Must try but not healthy

I had a “not dog”, an ice cream and a burger. Everything tasted good, but the food was not really healthy. Though, I think it is a must try just out of curiosity. Good for a quick bite.

Ice Cream For Breakfast

We were up early to secure train tickets for a 5 hour journey, on our way back to the hotel we detoured to this place. From a previous review, I knew they also did savouries so we grabbed 2 of each to take with us later on the train, we both went for the chocolate ice cream which we had to eat quick in the early morning heat. It was delicious, wish we'd found it before we were leaving Kandy. As for the savoury goods we had them at different intervals on our journey, they pack a little heat spice wise but were really great and really cheap.

Pros: Excellent vegan food, Inexpensive

SOY Delicious!

This was the first vegan ice cream shop I found in Sri Lanka and I’m so happy I did. I’m cycling around the country so this was the boost I needed! I went here twice and tried the tri-color and chocolate swirl (chocolate is the best). They have some good samosas too (if you like spicy, definitely worth trying).

I also loved that many locals ate here too.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Very cheap

Best vegan soft serves

Amazing vegan find. I was so happy to finally find a 100 percent plant based establishment after being in Sri Lanka for 3 weeks. So many vegan savoury snacks to pick from ranging prices between 70 - 120 rupees. They are all
At the front counter ready made but I wouldn’t be worried if they had been sitting there long as the restaurant is really busy and full of locals with a quick turn over so they are constantly making fresh product. I tried the Chinese roll and veg salad bun and was so impressed and pleased with what I got. I wanted it all but I knew I had to leave room for the main event “the soft serve” and let me tell you it took the show!! The most amazing and delicious soft serve I’ve had ever!! Comes with chocolate and strawberry but if you ask you can get all one flavour. You can tell it is popular amongst the locals as everyone under the Terrence has one in there hand. So good I left with a second one 😅

Pros: All vegan savoury snacks, Cheap , Soft serves to die for

Yummi Imbis

Great place to try some local snacks. I would get it for takeaway, because it’s on a mainstreet and not nice for sitting.

Pros: Locals go there, Cheap, Delicious Wraps

Cons: Not for sitting , Hard to find ( no vegan signs)

Excellent value, tasty snacks & fab ice cream!

This was our first stop after checking in at our hotel. Knowing that all the savoury snacks were vegan-friendly was a huge bonus, and we dug right in with samosas, Chinese rolls and cutlet, followed by two ice creams each - chocolate followed by strawberry.

I’ve been craving samosas, having seen so many street vendors selling them, but I’ve not wanted to take the risk that they might not be vegan-friendly. These were large and very tasty. The Chinese roll was more like a croquette, but as soon as I got past the fact that it was not what I was expecting, I was actually very happy with our selection. The cutlet was also really good!

The ice creams stole the show, and were clearly very popular with the other customers who were sitting on the covered terrace area outside. Chocolate was my favourite, but the strawberry was fab too! Hoping to try the vanilla if they have some the next time we visit.

Pros: Excellent value for money, Fab ice cream, Loads of savoury snacks

Decent soy ice cream, wrap was so so

The soy ice cream was definitely refreshing, the chocolat flavour somewhat better than the vanilla one.
The coconut wrap we had afterwards was pretty dry, so I wouldn’t recommend that one...

Pros: Refreshing soy ice cream

Cons: Wrap was pretty dry

Delicious and cheap!

I went a bit overboard and bought more than I had planned because I was so excited by all the snacks! The soy roti is fairly spicy, the cutlet was pretty filling and the samosa’s heavy. I also had an ice cream. Prices range from 70 LKR to 120 LKR for savoury snacks.

Pros: All vegan, Inexpensive , Quick service
