Great little place - Edit
This place is slightly hidden away off the main roads, but is worth finding, because it has loads of really creative vegan options including, mains, desserts, breakfast & drinks. Check it out!

Best Cafe In Bali - Edit
I couldn’t fault the Shady Shack. It is a clean, comfortable airy building with a green garden looking over the rice fields. It has a large, interesting vegetarian menu with many vegan options. It’s consistently good with friendly staff and absolutely delicious food, drinks and desserts. The prices are extremely affordable for the large portions of healthy food they serve

Everything was very pretty but the taste was just average. I understand that for aesthetic reasons the leaves in my salad very left as whole but it made eating or even mixing the salad very hard. My partner had vegan tacos which were nice but the portion wasn't big enough. We haven't tired desserts, they looked good but we would prefer to have an option of baked cakes, not only raw

I went here for dinner with my vegan boyfriend. We had a smoothie, a jackfruit burger, the ”vegan cheese” burger, the apple cake and the raw hazelnut mocha cheesecake. The smoothie was incredible; the burgers were nice, but not seasoned very much, so they tasted quite similar. The fries were lukewarm and tasted very little. The apple cake dessert was good, but the coconut sour cream it was served with was VERY sour, and the raw cheesecake was very expensive for quite a small slice which didn’t taste very much of either hazelnut or mocha. All in all, good meal, but I don’t think we’d go back.

The worst staff in bali - Edit
Food is pretty good. Definitly has the best smoothie bowl in bali. The salad bowls are a bit to oily for me but great taste. The staff is rude and lazy. My order was wrong, i sent it back and had to wait for 40 minutes because they thought i didn’t want to eat it what i ordered but that i would pay for it?!?!?!? What the hell....

I think this place is overrated. Each time I’ve passed by it has been full. I ate here once. I had the vegan cheeseburger and it was ok, nothing more. But people are queuing for a table. Maybe I had the wrong dish. They seated me at the bar and I cannot recommend that if you like to relax during your meal, it was very stressful and noisy.

Yes, the food here was amazing every time we went! But the service and experience were really slow and horrible, every time. One cashier is not enough. The endless line of GoJek delivery guys fill the main ordering area or smoke cigarettes at you endlessly when they are outside. We waited 45 minutes for our order at various times throughout the day. It’s almost impossible to get the staff’s attention. Maybe it would have been better if we had been able to get a table or just ordered delivery. The food is delicious, of course, but be ready to struggle for it.

The coffee and smoothie bowls are super delicious! We loved our breakfast so much that we went back for dinner and got the jackfruit burgers and tacos. They were both good but the tacos were outstanding! Good vibe, nice staff and good food. I recommend.

We had the gyro burger, jackfruit tacos and jack stack. All delicious. Drinks are great and the menu has so much to offer. Only complaint is we went back 3 times trying to get gnocchi but sold out each time haha.

Had takeaway twice in a 2 week visit to Bali, absolutely delicious both times! Love the fact these guys don’t use substitutes- they make cashew halloumi and are really experimental with flavours and textures. The results are some seriously healthy, delicious options such as jackfruit burgers and nourish bowls. Considering that Bali can’t grow as much veg as some other countries, Shady Shack work their magic to create truly varied dishes.

The place is packe in the evenings and you might want to book a table. It is a beautiful setting outdoors as well as some airy indoor seatings. Great variation; not overwhelming but still hard to choose, even when limited to vegan options. I went for the back stack and thoroughly enjoyed it. Many different textures and flavours coming together beautifully on the plate.

Went here with high hopes but left a bit disappointed. The service was really bad. When we came in our waitress showed us a table we could sit at and then stood around talking to her friends without bringing us a menu. Got up and got it myself. We then moved table to somewhere more visible to try and get better service but no one came to take our order for 10 minutes so again went up to her to order. Not too big a deal but not what you expect in a restaurant with prices like that. I got the jackfruit gyro burger which was actually really bad. The jackfruit had barely any seasoning and the rest was filled with large chunks of undercooked onions with the tough bottom part still attached. I normally finish everything on my plate but I could barely manage half of it before giving up. It was a shame because my boyfriend’s vegan cheeseburger was actually really good, I would definitely recommend that. One waiter was very friendly also. Maybe we just came on an off day but I wouldn’t be rushing back any time soon

I ordered the “Go Green” Bowl and an iced coffee. Their prices are much higher than local food, but on about the same level (maybe a bit higher) than other veg and health restaurants in the area. They do not charge extra for coconut milk in their coffee drinks. The staff was friendly and helpful, food was delicious and a good sized portion (and tasty!), although the peanut sauce could have used more seasoning. Pop music is a bit loud on the patio, but easily escapable with their garden seating.

Came to eat on holiday and food was tasty but when you have terrible service it makes everything else BAD! I sat at table outside and it started to rain so I moved to covered area, of course waiter said I could. Once my food arrived a couple asked me to move for them and their friends, then server came and asked how long till I eat when my food just touched the table. Very RUDE! Will not be returning

We love this place! The food is very delicious and fresh. Everything we tried was so good! We spend only 3 nights in Canggu but we ate there 4 times. They offer a lot of vegan dishes and vegan options. The prices are more expensive than Indonesian food. But we think they are reasonable. In Germany you would pay twice or three times as much.

The menu has lots of vegan options, highly recommend the Choc Tops smoothie, Tempe Bowl, Vegan Cheeseburger and their fresh garden rolls! The carrot cake is awesome too. Tried the Pillow Talk (sweet potato gnocchi), Kebab Capers - honestly, everything was so good. Pretty much eaten the whole menu

Great service, food came quickly even at busy brunch time. Choco smoothy, bliss berry smoothy, smashed potatoes and vegan version of big breakfast all were very good. Relaxed vibe with rice paddy view. Overall very satisfying pleasant experience. Will come again. Highly recommended.
