Overrated but ok!

I feel like the Naam gets a bit over-hyped because it’s one of the oldest veg restaurants in Vancouver. Lines are often long and the inside of the restaurant is a bit dated. Food can be a bit hit and miss! But I appreciate the big menu and clearly marked vegan options.

What's there in Naam

Had lunch today. I liked my Buddha's Feast. But it was nowhere close to the hype (which might have been created because of reasons other than the dining experience). I will still rate it fairly high because of the range of options it offers.

Pros: Vegetarian Restaurant - so lot of options

Cons: Average ambience; feels a little unclean

Delicious and full of healthy veggies!

We absolutely loved the food at The Naam. The flavors in the bowl with peanut sauce were really yummy and it was full of perfectly cooked vegetables. The special of the day was stroganoff with a side salad which was also very tasty. The salad was full of flavor. I realized I have seen their sauces in my health food store in Ontario! I will be stocking up when I get home. A

Must try in Kits

Situated in Kits, this restaurant has become a landmark. It’s fully vegetarian with many vegan options. Nicely decorated and good vibes in there. Food was great too.

Best place to eat in Vancouver

Every time I’m in Vancouver I go to the Naam. The goal is to try the whole menu because everything is delicious and the portions are massive. Make sure you treat yourself to some gravy fries and pie with soy ice cream after.

An old favourite

We’ve been eating at the Naam for years! I love the combination of comfort foods and healthier dishes so you can always find what you’re in the mood for. Down to earth atmosphere with a wide customer base - open 24 hours so always convenient. Large portions will leave you full or with leftovers!

Late night eats

I live close by so I eat here if I have a late night craving. My favourite dish thus far is the vegan pancakes with maple syrup. Delish.

Pros: Lots of Vegan options, Cheap, Quick

Generous portions

Had the quesadilla platter and the crying tiger thai stir fry - all very delicious, they definitely give you more than enough.
The thai stir fry would have been better if it was in a bowl as there was curry in the dish (but not enough of that delicious sauce!).
I wish I had a bigger stomach to have dessert, we'll definitely be back!
Also, they have live music and we specifically chose the night where there was live Flamenco music...but it turned out to be a solo guy with his guitar on a chair on a tiiiiiny platform just big enough for it....it was weird hahaha.
The waiting was long and the place is small and really noisy which surprised me - which wasn't bad, I was expecting a chilled restaurant vibe. Couldn't really hear or talk with the other half.

Pros: Lots of options, big portions.

Cons: Too noisy, live performance felt out of place.

Brilliant

Amazing vegan food. The whole menu is vegetarian or vegan but pretty much everything can be veganised. Went here twice whilst visiting Vancouver.

Nice restaurant

Tons of options. I had a vegan gluten free enchilada which as very flavourful. Wish the portions were smaller though.

Food OK

I had the Tempeh Reuben, which was only OK. Basically, a slab of plain tempeh with a little sauerkraut, lots of veggies and cheese. Huge portions of food for everyone; nobody could finish what was on their plate.

Pros: Lots of food.

Cons: Food only OK.

Not very vegan friendly. Lots of items with eggs.

It's a convenient location but I don't like that their menu isn't very focused on plant based items. They have lots of items with eggs so vegans and other vegetarians still have to be careful while ordering.

Pros: I like that they are open late

Cons: Lots of items with eggs

Terrible food and not vegan friendly

My boyfriend and I went here for lunch yesterday. There was a line up out the door when we got there and after hearing such good things about this place we had high expectations. I ordered the naam dragon bowl and he got the tempeh reuben with daiya cheese. However, when they brought us the food we discovered that the tempeh reuben had real cheese and my dish was not the naam dragon bowl but some other bowl that was covered in dairy cheese. As a vegan, this was extremely disgusting and ruined any appetite I had. They did quickly replace my dish with the correct one but even that was unimpressive. It consisted of steamed veggies, rice, unmarinated plain tofu, and very little sauce. It was extremely bland. The salad that came with the reuben was similar to a bagged salad from the grocery store with mostly iceberg lettuce. After getting both of our orders wrong the waiter then complained about not getting a tip. What did he expect? This place is way over rated and I'm sure anyone could make better food at home.

24/7 🥦

Every time I’ve been, there’s been a crazy long lineup at the door. I like the eclectic, down to earth feel there. Wish it was all vegan, but the stuff I can have has been good. The portions are a bit big, but I usually take it home for leftovers. The teas and desserts are definitely crowd pleasers too.

Pros: Portions are big, 24/7

Cons: Long wait times

Still my Favorite

I first came here when I was 15. Have lived in many other Canadian and US cities since (including NYC) and by far this is is still my favorite restaurant. There’s just no place like home!

Pros: Atmosphere , Fresh Food, Miso Gravy

Cons: Line up at dinner time

Underwhelmed

It was super Psyched about going here, possibly had my expectations set to high. It was really busy and by the time my friend and I left there was a line up out the door.

Possibly it was because it was so busy that we both found the food undercooked. We ordered apps of a crispy tofu that was really not hot or crispy at all and the hummus and pita as well. Neither of us enjoyed the flavour or consistency of the hummus and the pita was over crispy and cold.

We split the Naam Burger and the Tempeh Ruben and were not impressed with the burger (it was rare in terms of crispness and doneness . The tempeh was not very flavourful and was a bit too dry/firm.

They overwhelmed the plate with shredded carrots and beets and sprouts..too much in our opinion.

The sesame potato wedges and miso gravy were tasty though.

Staff were friendly and acknowledged that things were busy in the kitchen and this could have affected the food. They were great about removing the one app from our bill and gave us 2 almond cookies on the house (although neither of us found them to be very good either)

Pros: 100% Vegan, Open 24hrs, Clearly marked GF items and Honey Itesm

Cons: Food Quality

Old school vegetarian

It is a busy and popular spot and reminds me of old school vegetarian dining - a little dated. The dishes are large portions. Large vegetarian focus with vegan options. I felt the desserts were underwhelming. Nice to have a 24 hour option and for folks craving nostalgic veg meals it’s a good stop.

Best vegan breakfast ever!

We love coming here for breakfast. We always order the full vegan breakfast with fluffy vegan pancakes, scrambled tofu, vegan sausages and a side of organic blueberry topping. It's basically heaven! They have a very big menu but watch out as not everything is vegan (it's a vegetarian restaurant). But all you have to do is specify that you are vegan and they do a great job accomodating you!

Pros: 24 hours!, Lovely outdoor patio, Service is improving

Cons: large cue if you come at peak hours

Decent but overhyped

Mostly an egg-based brunch menu.

While you can "veganize" much of their menu, most the care has gone into the extensive egg options (poached, scrambled, over easy, omelettes) with scrambled tofu as the vegan option. This feels like most omni brunch places that only allow for tofu scramble.
That said, the tofu scramble was better than most places (they actually cook and season it, don't just heat it up in a pan). The best part was the miso gravy.

(Home fries were too large for a proper crust. The tea was overpriced for the common organic brand Choice.)

I asked, and, despite what it says it different places online they're still a 24/hr restaurant-- this makes it a keeper.

Pros: Friendly and relaxed atmosphere, Not oily, Open 24/7

Cons: Over priced

Classic Vancouver

This place is home. Great food, great atmosphere and in the heart of Kitsilano. The line up out the door speaks for itself. This place is a Vancouver institution- and even better, it’s open 24/7. Must haves are the Thai Noodles, Naam Bowl, Naam Burger (make sure to sub the mayo for vegan mayo) and the miso gravy and fries.

Everything on the menu can be made vegan!

Making meat eaters belive

My partner took me here as a little brain vacation. I needed a pick me up and I have been vegetarian (now vegan) for years. They're a meat and potatoes kind of person. But they actually enjoyed the food. They even ate vegetables (gasp). We both got veggie burgers and chickpea fries. Though they still prefer meat the atmosphere and quality of food makes them excited to bring me back anytime were in Vancouver.

Pros: Vegan, Health concious, Variety

Cons: Limited parking
