Great Food... Hotel district - Edit
Great restaurant in palm beach near all the hotels. I feel in love with their traditional tofu dish! Great staff but only two or three vegan options.

It was ok. - Edit
Nice place and friendly staff. Food was ok, not the best vegan dishes you can find in Aruba, but still good enough. My vegetable pasta was tasty but overcooked. I appreciated the tofu sticks.

Great chef with creative vegan options not on menu - Edit
We were disappointed to find that one of our favorite restaurants with vegan options on the island, convenient to the hotels in Palm Beach, had changed owners and our fav vegan options were no more. We stopped by and asked if they could make anything vegan and were delighted to meet the inspired chef. He came to our table, asked us a few questions, and with maximum trust and flexibility on our part, he created two amazing dinners (yes, only restaurant we went to twice during our visit for a reason) that were delicious, 5 star if Happy Cow would allow. We hope he adds the creations he made for us to the menu. Reasonable prices, delicious food.

Great Effort - Edit
We had just gotten in to Aruba a couple of hours before, we had no idea of where to eat and we stumbled across The Lazy Turtle. I think these are new owners and they didn't have anything vegan on the menu, but the hostess called the chef over to our table, I told him of my vegan requirements, he thought about it for about 15 seconds and came up with an idea of what to whip up. It was very tasty and reasonably priced. Must be prepared to trust the chef to come up with something based on what he gets at the market that day. I will try and suggest to him that he consider building up his repertoire of vegan dishes.

I really wanted to like it😒 - Edit
I always hate leaving bad reviews when the staff are so nice! I am only leaving this review to warn other vegans to save their money. Staff were extremely friendly, but the food was so bland and expensive, I was quite disappointed :(
Read morePoints for the bruschetta (we just asked for it without cheese) as it was pretty good, but the pad Thai with tofu left a lot to be desired.
It was insanely expensive and I only ended up eating a few bites. The tofu was extremely dry and flavorless. It’s supposed to soak up the flavors of everything else in the dish, but sadly there were none. Since the tofu was not very good, all that was left in the pad Thai were the rice noodles, sauce, and peanuts, and there wasn’t much sauce/flavor, so it felt kinda like eating pasta with peanuts. I’ve had lovely pad Thai in the past and sadly this is not it. Maybe the other items on the menu were better, but I’d definitely pass on the pad Thai.
Pros: Friendly staff, Good location
Cons: Expensive , Only 3 vegan options, Bland

Need that Kuvuta sauce in my life - Edit
Perhaps I had a more positive impression simply because I went in expecting so little (Paseo Herencia is... ugh), but I really liked the Kuvuta Tofu dish. My partner got the banana-leaf fish dish that has the same sauce and also loved it. While the "side" of rice could have been more generous, the dish itself seemed like a good portion to me and I left satisfied.
Read moreAs for the atmosphere: do you enjoy strip-mall style dining, one step more elegant than a food court? If yes, then you will really like it here. If not, it won't be the greatest experience ambience-wise, but passable.
We each ordered one drink and neither of us were impressed there, though perhaps their other bar offerings are better.
Pros: Separate vegan menu, Creative vegan dishes
Cons: Location

Not just the turtle is lazy - Edit
Family with one vegan and one omni parent and two teen vegetarians. Glad they had veg options and taste was ok. However, the price and portions were high and small, respectfully. But this was not a fancy place serving high quality cuisine so that’s not a reasonable combination. Case in point: serving previously frozen vegetables. The same bland, squishy veggies in a pasta primavera, tofu stir fry, African tofu, and the (non-veg) banana-leaf wrapped fish. There are places nearby with both lower and higher prices that did not do that (and had bigger, satisfying meals). An easy skip.

Good food - Edit
We went to try this place a few days ago. I got the stir fry, I was imaging it would be an Asian style stir fry so I was a little surprised when I saw it. It ended up being absolutely fantastic. I took half home and ate it for dinner. We went back for dinner last night and I just had to try kuvuta tofu, I saw it was small so we got it as an appetizer. THIS TOFU WAS MIND BLOWING AND DELICIOUS. My partner isn’t vegan but couldn’t stop tasting the sauce. It’s unlike anything else. After all this though, I’d been craving a good pad Thai. That’s what I ordered for my entree (Dinner only). It wasn’t a traditional pad Thai. It tasted more like a great Italian pasta. Not like any authentic pad Thai I’ve had but good all the same. Over all great restaurant. I’ll probably go one more time to get the tofu again.

Just off the main strip - Edit
Great tofu dish and pad Thai. Not too busy like stuff right on the main strip so that was nice too.

Can I give them 7 stars? - Edit
I know only fully vegan places can get 5 stars, but this place was so accommodating and friendly, they deserve 5 stars. They have 3 vegan options on their dinner menu, and I tried 2 Piri Piri Garbanzo (delicious and unlike anything I’ve ever had, just a tiny bit salty) and Kuvuta Tofu (this was so simple but absolutely fantastic. The sauce changed my life). I also had them make the pad Thai vegan (even the vegetarian option uses fish sauce so be careful) and it was great! They did give us some free drink tokens and the house Sauvignon bland is wonderful.

Overpriced! - Edit
We went here once and took the kuvuta tofu. It tasted good, but not very special. The portion was too small and expensive: six little pieces tofu and a little bit of white rice. My boyfriend was so hungry afterwards that we went to get a pizza.

High Quality Vegan Caribbean Dinner - Edit
Quality food, beautiful presentation, unique carribean flavors in vegan dishes. Make sure you tell them you're vegan so they know which ingredients to customize from your vegetarian entree. There were 3-4 choices. We had the Kuvuta (African) Tofu and Pad Thai and we loved them both. The tofu was our favorite. The Pad thai was a more sour than sweet version, still delicious and probably so because we ordered it mild. They were on "Aruban" time so be prepared to sit back and relax and wait :). Service was very friendly amd courteous, communicated well. It is on the ground floor in the middle of the outdoor strip mall, barely bordered off, so people will be walking close by to where you sit. You're in the middle of all the action! Highly recommend, a must visit during your stay for any vegan, just note the setting. Perfect way to close out a shopping session with a dinner here!
