Delicious and Fresh - Edit
Had the Summer Salad with Grilled Tofu and it was seriously one of the most tasty and freshest salads I’ve ever had. They also had a Coconut Rice Pudding which was super delicious - and the candied ginger and toasted coconut shreds on top were a nice touch.

Healthy and tasty! - Edit
What a little gem this place is! If you like whole, healthy food, this is the place. We got a basic plate, customized: brown rice, steamed veggies, organic tofu, and teriyaki sauce. The food is prepared very well. There’s no oil, which is hard to find eating out.

Great veggie options, but some cross-contamination - Edit
The owner puts his love into the food: organic, locally grown, freshly made. He catered an all vegan lunch party with great options, like plum sushi, sesame rice, vegan cookies. However, some of his best vegan creations are not on the restaurant menu. Also, his staff are not careful about cross-contamination, using the same cooking surface, so the vegan dishes often end up with flavors or occasional piece of meat or eggs. Wishing a vegan friend could appear to entice the staff to be more understanding, but it's a small place so guess it's too much to expect.
Read moreUpdate Apr 2021: If vegan, be sure to request NO EGG or say EGG ALLERGY so they might keep the tofu separate from eggs on the cooking surface, or just skip the tofu. See photo gallery for egg stuck to the tofu! Tried to get it off but hard to remove egg bits and smell!

Pros: organic, local, fresh veggies
Cons: some cross-contamination with eggs, meat, no vegan cookies (so vegans stay skinny!)

I guess they are closed for a few months, was excited to try the place... I don’t think it’s because of Covid, just closed for September and Oct

Yummmm! - Edit
Came here on the first day restaurants were closed during the covid-19 crisis. We ordered takeout and ate on their outdoor deck. Super cute little place with great vegan options. It’s a you-build style with bowls, soup, and wraps. I got a bowl with veggies and tempeh, otherwise it’s just rice, protein, and sauce. Also ordered veggie potstickers (vegan) and they were delicious!
Read moreMost of the sauce is vegan, with two having fish sauce. Protein options are tempeh and tofu. The tempeh was great!Veggies were cooked perfectly. Broccoli and cauliflower were crunchy.
Pros: Lots of vegan options , Decent price, Cute place

Comida muy rica, ambiente acogedor - Edit
Bastantes opciones veganas, local pequeño pero acogedor. Comida servida en material biodegradable. Small cozy place with quite a few vegan options. Food is served in biodegradable dishes so that's an extra too.

Great spot! I'm a regular - Edit
My husband and I are both vegan and we come here weekly. Our favorites are the veggie potsticker plate special with ginger wasabi soy sauce, tempeh wrap and yam fries with coconut curry sauce. Yummmm!

Yum! - Edit
We didn't expect to find anything for us to eat on Orcas Island and were pleasantly surprised with The Kitchen popped up! The guy working the window wasn't super friendly, and told us the only thing we could do was order off the kitchen basics menu. Thankfully the food was great! I had noddles and veggies with a delicious coconut curry sauce, and my husband had rice and tempeh and veggies. Nothing super fancy but it tasted great. It was cold and rainy so the patio wasn't the most comfortable, but we were there at the very tail end of the tourist season.

Great Find - Edit
Our 1st trip to Orcas Island and we were afraid we would not find a restaurant that served vegan foods. We were wrong. This place is great. Try their Kitchen Basics. Outstanding. They are a little slow, but it is worth it. We came back 5 times during our stay.
