Amazing dishes! Great atmosphere.

Great range of dishes. Served tapas style with lots of sharing. The spicy dishes were warming, without being aggressive.
We couldn't finish everything we ordered, so the staff offered to box up our leftovers.
Credit card accepted.

Pros: Range of local beers, Generous portions , Friendly service

Cons: Bit noisy if there's a gig downstairs.

Awesome food and great vibe

A really cool bar and restaurant with amazing vegan food. Small portions but so many options it means you can try more. Be careful though the spicy food are really hot. Great coffee and drinks too.

Pros: Lots of great options , Great atmosphere , Super friendly staff

Non-standard deliciousness

Tend to describe this as like East Asian tapas; every dish was awesome and delicious

Outstanding

Even in a city with such a huge variety of great vegan food like Glasgow, the Hug and Pint manages to stand out with amazing tapas-style dishes, which change daily and are very inventinve and taste amazing. If you are willing to spend 10-15 pound per person (plus drinks), then you will get some great value for money here.

Pros: Some of the best vegan food in Glasgow, Good value for money, Daily changing menu

Amazing

I've been going to the Hug & Pint for dinner since it opened 3 years ago, and it never ceases to surprise me with its invention and amazing meals. I used to go before I was vegan, and loved it anyway - the mix of south east asian flavours is just unique. They always have some really interesting new things on the menu, but I will also always love the aubergine or the cashew curries as some of my all-time favourite meals.

Worth a visit - pop in for some light bites

Good selection of dishes - think Asian tapas. Great for sharing and some interesting items on the menu. Cool bar with nice selection of drinks.

simple bowls to combine

If you are hungry, try ordering 1 of everything. The kitchen is small so they have a simple but spicy and colourful menu. Try sharing things in a bowl combo. Cocktails also nice. Relaxing atmosphere but busy just before a show, may have to book a table

Pros: tasty, value, can see the kitchen at work

Cons: tables close together , can get very busy

never tasted anything quite like it!

The selection is small, but everything is delicious. If you are looking for a quick bite- this is the place. The cuisine is asian inspired. It goes surprisingly well with beer! ;) and the staff is really friendly and helpful.

weird service

The waitress seemed kinda off, and put out by us not ordering drinks...like it was odd not to order drinks at 2pm. Also, when we ordered two dishes she informed us most people order more... Ok great, but you didn't say it was a tapas bar. Apart from that, the rice and mushroom pudding was delicious as was the cashew and mushroom curry. The aubergine dish wasn't great, and very rich and almost had a concentrate paste flavour. Didn't finish our 3 dishes despite her saying two was not enough. Price was very reasonable.

Pros: all vegan

Interesting what you say about waitress saying most people order more. They only started this tactic in the last year and it's very off-putting.

nice food mice staff

This pub and restaurany mostly have korean (and other parts of asia) inspired food. I’ve tried the szechuan pepper blackbean tofu and the jack fruit curry. They both taste great!
They also have a good range of beers and drinks. Live music downstaits sometimes and a very friendly atmosphere.

Pros: great food, friendly staff and nice atmosphere, not expensive

Cozy place with incredible food.

Very rich tastes. I had a black pepper aubergine dish and mushroom cashew curry. As the menu changes daily it will probably not available in future visits, but it definitely is not the last time I went there.
The staff was really friendly and helpful.
As I am not local I asked them for recommendations on vegan breakfast and they came up with ace options.

Pros: daily changing menu

Sunday Lunch!

* Really surprised about the last 2 reviews where people had gone in later on the same day after we had.
Website is pretty straightforward in explaining the pricing and the fact that when one day's dish is finished...it's finished.
Yes - pretty clear that.
It was also explained when we arrived what the price of the main and side dishes were.
Yes - totally clear.
Perhaps those folk that went in like Vegan places that have 12 choices of dishes that are frozen and can be chucked in a microwave on demand. Odd.
What's hard to understand about going in late and finding there's only 2 choices left?

Lunch was fine. I'd Jackfruit curry with rice and Miso soup. Good to find Williams Brothers beer also.

Pros: Fresh food., When a dish finishes, it's finished. New choic, Williams Bros. beer.

Cons: Chopstick challenge!

Rather disappointed

As visitors we had been impressed by the 'Vegan Scene' in Glasgow so far. We were intrigued by the idea of having a choice of five changing dishes on the menu. When we got there there were four options left two of which promptly disappeared. A limited choice to say the least. Both choices turned out to be rather spicy, not really desirable for one of us. Only two side dishes on the board without prices. They turned out to be rather more expensive than expected. All in all rather disappointing.

Pros: Friendly staff, good portions.

Cons: Not particularly good value for money. , Very limited choice.

Nice crew, too salty food

We came in the evening (7:30pm) and 2 out of 4 main dishes were gone. We ordered white pepper aubergine and black fungus and beancurd. Food was much too salty. Each main was £8. The staff were nice and accomodating, and there is a good selection of drinks.

Oh, so good!

We couldn't decide which dish to choose, they all sounded appealing, so we went for "eat everything" option (£15 per person, minimum for two people, try every dish, unlimited rice plus dessert). The food was plentiful and amazing, nice people coconut soup and sweet soy tempeh dish and green salad were our favourite, yum. What you won't eat you can take home, which I did. Dessert was delicious too, very light and healthy, yet yummy. I could hardly move after all this food orgy, but it was worth it. Last but not least staff is great, they're really nice people, we felt looked after but they weren't fake or intrusive.

Pros: Amazing food, Great value for money , Friendly atmosphere

Cons: None for me

Amazing Eastern Asian cuisine

They've added a deal where you can sample everything off the menu - including unlimited rice - for £15. Or, before 5pm you can have any £8 main for £5. I opted for the former, being excited there was scheuzan tofu on the menu, and no mushroom dishes (I detest mushrooms). However, before my dishes arrived the tofu had sold out, and two of the dishes we received were mushroom based. That was disappointing. Though with one dish I was able eat around them and enjoy the savoury "pudding" they accompanied.

It was my second time sampling their jackfruit curry, which is a dish I've never seen elsewhere and I would highly recommend it. I was also excited that to finish off was a dessert of coconut & mango puree; it's no Oreo cheesecake but was the sweetness I needed to feel satisfied. They also have a good range of craft beers, too, and service was fantastic (apart from the tofu incident).

Sitting on stools all afternoon wasn't great, next time I'd request a table at the back with the chairs.

Pros: Unique dishes , Reasonably priced, Relaxed environment

Cons: Not knowing the menu til the day
