Not as good as I hoped - Edit
Had great service but took two meat eaters and it wasn’t really the best experience to show them vegan food, great if you are in the area but I thought there were a lot of better options in Toronto for vegan eats unfortunately. Had the chicken waffles they were delish but didn’t need the sides as it was just toooo much food!!!

Not to be missed! - Edit
I almost didn't get to stop at The Hogtown Vegan but last minute my plans changed and I immediately had to stop here! I was traveling with my brother (carnivore) and boyfriend (vegan). My brother is very easy going and just loves food so taking a vegan tour of Toronto with us was fine by him.
Read moreWe were seated immediately, even on a Saturday morning. We had such a great waiter! He was very cheerful, had tons of recommendations, and also gave us the history behind the name Hogtown! I had the chicken and waffles, my brother had the Elvis French Toast, and my boyfriend had the caesar wrap. We all loved our meal! FYI, if you are from the states and love ice tea, Toronto does not do ice tea like America, it's a sweet Snapple kind of drink...
I would highly recommend stopping by here! I also bought a mug because I loved the logo and our waiter made a make-shift packaging for me so I could take it home and not worry about it breaking!
Pros: Exceptional Service, Fantastic Food, Good Vibes

Good Southern comfort food - Edit
Cozy restaurant with friendly staff, filling portions of Southern comfort food. I had the unchicken, which could have been more spicy for authenticity.

most awesome burger - Edit
Got the Big Hog burger and even though it was so big it kept falling apart, it tasted so good, it didn't bother me. The bun was soft but not squishy and didn't fall apart. Perfect amount of sauce and toppings, although I did take off some of the peppers... Just a tad too hot for me. :) This burger patty itself was hearty, and firm (didn't fall apart) and while "meaty," it didn't taste like "real meat." Husband liked the Mac and cheese which had a good kick to it.

This place is nice. A lot of dishes are proposed. I ordered the Phish n chip vegan with a wonderful Tempeh. It was really good!

Great "chicken" and waffles - Edit
We went for the "chicken" and waffles and they were great! We also got some "chicken wings" as an appetite that I wasn't that excited about, but they were SO amazing and really blew me away. We got them with buffalo sauce.

A great place to eat...get there early! - Edit
On our recent visit to Toronto from the UK we visited Hogtown on several occasions.
Read moreThe staff were always friendly and welcoming, the food was great. Our favourite was the Fish and Chips and Beef stew, there was also a funnel cake on the specials board which we tried several times!
We always arrived around 6.30pm as it does very busy and we saw lines outside the front door on one occasion
Overall our favourite place to eat.
Pros: Friendly staff, Great food, Nice atmosphere
Cons: Can get very busy

Nice food! - Edit
I really enjoyed the food here. The bacon cheeseburger was nice. Only minus is that the bacon was a bit weird, it was too crispy and hard to bite into. For brunch I had the waffle sandwich which was good but the waffle could have a bit more taste and again the bacon was a bit weird. But yummy food anyways!

Good vegan comfort food - Edit
Nice place to get vegan food that isn't loaded with kale and quinoa.
Read moreTried the philly cheese steak and mac & cheese. I think the cheese sauce on both was the same, and it was good (not too nooch-y). Also had a good Irish coffee.
Pros: All vegan, Casual
Cons: A little slow to get food

Great vegan comfort food! - Edit
I’ve been to this Hogtown location a few times and have always been satisfied with my experience. Weekend brunch especially, if you get there near opening, I’ve never had to wait. Service is friendly and helpful. The unchicken is AMAZING and with hot sauce and on the waffle is fantastic. The fries supremacy (as a side to the unchicken and waffles) makes a top-notch brunch. The tofu scramble is awesome also. It’s not fancy, but it’s yummy!

Disappointing - Edit
I gotta say ... I was a little disappointed with our visit to HogTown. It had come so highly recommended, so we finally made the drive into the city to try it. The wait was INSANE for our food. We almost left because the wait was so long between bringing each dish. One waitress seemed to be dealing with everyone and she seemed so busy and never really checked in with us, tho when we did see her she’s was always cheery and kind ... the other waitress was MIA .. tho we did glance over at her makingout with someone at the bar lol ...oh young love. Not hating on that haha.
Read moreBut when it came to the Grub:
our Mac and cheese was .. just okay. It was really oily .. like REALLY oily ( you want good vegan Mac in Toronto - hit up DOOMIES) .. my boyfriend got ceaser salad and and unchicken wrap .. it fell apart and the salad was super soggy. I ordered the brunch potatoes .. and they were VERY undercooked .. honestly guys they were gross . Even smothering them in hot sauce and ketchup I couldn’t do it . The Unchicken on its own is good, but kind of just a glorified gardine chicken strip . And the deep fried Oreos I found to be very dry compared to others we had tried.
I love what hogtown does and how it allows so many people to try tasty vegan food . LOVE IT. But as a vegan junk-food-connoisseur ... it was disappointing. I don’t know if we will be back .. there are a lot of other vegan joints in Toronto that just serve it up ... better .
Sorry

Great Vegan Food All-Around - Edit
This place came highly-recommended to me, so I really wanted to try it out. It was not my favorite vegan restaurant I tried in Toronto, but I thoroughly enjoyed my food: nachos and mac 'n cheese.

go for the wings - Edit
The only thing I've really consistently loved here has been the wings. The texture is awesome. Best ones I've found in the city and I'm pretty confident I've tried them all.

Great Vegan Comfort Food! - Edit
On our visit to Toronto, my friends let me choose places to eat since I’m the only one with strong food preferences. I didn’t think they would be interested in an all-vegan place but they were down. We all ordered different things and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Of course they didn’t think it was the best food they’d ever had, but for their first all-vegan place I think they liked it just fine.
Read moreWe shared the fried Oreos for dessert and we all LOVED them. I definitely recommend!
Also, our server was friendly and the atmosphere was nice!

YOU will go AGAIN! - Edit
UPDATE: Gone many times and food was amazing (chickn and waffles really is super) and the service was great. Actually it's a place where I've never had rudeness/attitude. Not like OTHER places in this city!.
Read moreAs everyone else in the downtown core I was psyched for this place to open. I have been hearing stories about good food and lousy/rude service. My experience was slightly different. I got take out and got the Sweet Potato Sandwich and the biscuits/gravy/sausage. I liked both but found the sandwich a too greasy and the other dish sort of seemed like it had been sitting under the heating lamp too long. I got collard greens and ceasar salad as sides - both were great.
So, a wee disappointed, but even at that I LIKED the food and will go back. I wish it was a TAD cheaper - like competing with Sadie's prices - but hey, vegans need to make a living too. I am keen to try the chickn n waffles and cheesecake next. I think of myself as a vegan cheesecake connoisseur who's tried them from coast to coast and north and south. We shall see... ;)
(OH, and there was no attitude from either of the workers I dealt with :) )

Amazing!!! - Edit
Maybe my favourite or joint-favourite vegan place in Toronto. Everything I tried here was fantastic, and as I went with friends I got to try a lot. I got the chicken and waffles which was delicious, and the quesadilla was good too. Nice drinks and amazing desserts. They were very busy when we went but were accommodating and fast with service. Wish I could have gone back. Only downside was the decor, which was strange to say the least.

best of both worlds! - Edit
This place is ok. Has the best of both worlds when it comes to vegan junk food and healthy options.
Read moreThey had a stew as a special once that I ordered for my non-vegan mom. The stew was absolutely disgusting, I could not even figure out what it tasted like. When we told the server and asked what our options were, we were pretty much left with ordering and paying for a whole other meal just so my mom could eat! My mom was definitely turned off from vegan food and has not wanted to go to another vegan restaurant with me!
Most options on the menu are good, there are a few that are hit or miss. Do not forget to try the deep fried oreos....

Quick Service - Edit
We came here for lunch and I tried the unchicken waffles whilst my partner had the quesadilla. Both were nice without being out of this world. We also had dessert. I took an ice cream sandwich. The cookies were lovely and the ice cream was nice but it was a bit hard. My partner enjoyed the deep fried banana split. If you’re in the area, try it!

I really enjoyed Hogtown Vegan. It is really what you call 'comfort food'. I had Bacon Cheeseburger which was amazing! One of the best burgers I had. The fries were yummy too. Also I had my very first Mac n' Cheese and I absolutely loved it. Never tried the non-vegan version before but their's definitely yum. Don't skip this place!
