Good food but still disappointed - Edit
I heard the speech of David and Stephen at the Vegan Camp Out this year (2022). Being part of the speakers at a vegan festival, to me it was clear that both David and Stephen were vegan themselves. I loved their talk and was super excited to get the chance to actually visit their shop and restaurant in Greystones.
Read moreUnfortunately, I had to realize that their very own restaurant is plant-based, not vegan. Some items contain eggs and in their shop they sell eggs and beepollen. As owners of a business, they have the power to decide whether they want to make their money out of animal products or not. And in my opinion, no vegan would chose to make money at the expense of animals.
The food was really good though, we enjoyed our time at the restaurant, the atmosphere is very nice. However I find the food rather expensive.
Pros: Good food
Cons: Not vegan, though the owners seem to be "vegan" , Expensive

I really appreciate your review and writing more on their backstory! I was just about to buy one of their books and when I saw a preview of it, I couldn't believe they had recipes with eggs and goat cheese. I always thought they were vegan or at least plant-based. Now I see their business isn't vegan either. So disappointing because I had higher expectations from them than from regular businesses...

A true all-rounder. 🌱💚✅ - Edit
What I love about The Happy Pear on Church Rd in Greystones village is that it's so multifaceted.
Read moreI've been there to pick up groceries, including organic veg from their farm, amazing homemade snacks and some of the best sourdough loaves I've ever tasted.
That's just the "dropping in for bits and pieces" dynamic! Over the course of the last six years (we try to visit once a year) I've been fortunate enough to have all three meals there. The breakfast options are plentiful, the lunch menu really is a case of "spoilt for choice", and the early evening dining options are also truly commendable.
Pros: An almost entirely vegan establishment
Cons: It would be even better if it opened until late.

Great food - Edit
This is a great stop after doing the cliff walk. The dishes are very tasty and would have gotten 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact that most food was sold out when we visited even though the café stayed open a while longer.

Complete shop/restaurant/café - Edit
Vegan Heaven! They have a shop selling food, cheeses, sauces, pizzas, their cook books, sourdough breads, fruits and vegs. They have as well a restaurant that serves lunch and looks divine, they have to much food and cakes. They also have a café for drinks. They have a courtyard in the back with many places to seat.

Best vegan “snickers”! Not to mention the amazing sandwiches 🥳 - Edit
After wanting to visit for months I finally got to go last month! Fantastic quality vegan food but unfortunately due to high demand and present covid restrictions we couldn’t have the whole experience as the cafe ran out of many of the food options and was operating as a takeaway only cafe with outdoor seating.

Incredible! - Edit
We ordered the Buddha Bowl because it seemed we got a bit of all the food on display and we couldn’t decide what to have as it all looked so delicious. The curry was insane, the smokey potatoes, all of it...indescribable! Such a large portion too for a really decent price. We ordered coffee to go (I am a coffee snob) and it was creamy (they use oatly barista!) perfection! The staff were so friendly and chatty! Several staff started conversations with us which was really nice and we were even given some free cake as we are on our honeymoon. The only negative is we live all the way in Dorset, England so can’t come back every week!!

Catch the very happy Pair there! - Edit
Been going here since 2011. Back then, there were more menu amd vegan options available. As the twins' success grew, the menu decreased...pity...I loved the falafel back then! Great atmosphere, creative cuisine, super location near the sea and beach, bright colours, happy staff, yummy desserts and reasonable prices! Theyve expanded the seating areas alot since 2015. Queues at peak weekend times take up to 45 mins to get served.

Best place ever! - Edit
The food is simply amazing, the staff is super friendly and the place is cozy. It is absolutely worth the trip no matter where in Ireland you are. And right next to it you have the neat shop where it all started so you can get stuff for home! This for me is the epitome of what a vegan restaurant should be! So much positivity, happiness and delicious food! I can’t get enough!

It's the Happy Pear! - Edit
It would be perfect if it was fully Vegan, but I'm holding hope out one day it will be. The food is top notch. Smoked salmon, pimped porridge and vegan meatball subs. Sometimes the staff don't seem to know or care if something is fully vegan or not.
