Worth the Wait! - Edit
Came here on a recommendation for brunch. Had a decent selection of vegan options. The wait is long but pro tip - add yourself to the waiting list on yelp when you’re still at home. Vegan nachos and vegan breakfast burrito were awesome! Also lots of beer on tap and full bar.

Hard to decide! - Edit
It is always nice as a vegetarian to have numerous options to choose from! I had a difficult time deciding. In the end, I went with biscuits & gravy with vegan sausage. It was delicious! Great wait staff & funky atmosphere. I would give 5stars - but as you know that is reserved for vegan/veg places only.

Good vegan options - Edit
This place was my saviour on our trip to Boston this week, there are a couple of vegan options clearly marked which we found quite rare in Boston. It’s a must visit in Boston for a vegan breakfast!

Thank gosh for vegan options! - Edit
LOVE the fact that the friendly toast has vegan options. Honestly my twin sister and I are so picky when it comes to eating at a regular restaurant with vegan options (we don't want any mishaps, once at the cheesecake factory my sister found chicken in her "vegan" salad)
Read moreBut we are not afraid at the friendly toast!
We always order the 1) vegan chili 2) fries 3) vegan mac and cheese
All of the above are amazing!!!
I think the vegan chili is the only one they have so we like they can't mix it up with meat chili.
We love the mac and cheese but also love that you can tell it is the vegan options because of the cashew sauce.
Thank you for having great vegan options!!!

Great Place! - Edit
My boyfriend and I were visiting from Tucson, AZ found this place on happy cow and we ate there everyday during our vacation. Coming from Tucson where there aren’t many good vegan/vegetarian friendly restaurants, this place had great options the staff was so great. The place is just fun to be in.

One of my favorite spots! - Edit
Plenty of very different vegan options ranging from tofu scrambles to nachos to sandwiches, and almost all menu items can be modified by switching the meat to a meat sub. The atmosphere is whimsical, the best thing I can compare it to is if you were to decorate a home exclusively with yard sale finds and weird portraits from a grandparents basement

Cons: CROWDED!! Book ahead of time using their app

Disappointing - Edit
We happened to have discovered the original Friendly Toast in Portsmouth, NH a week earlier and then stumbled into the Back Bay Friendly Toast a week later, not realizing there was more than one location. I thought the menu looked familiar ....!
Read moreWell unfortunately the food wasn’t the same. Whereas the Portsmouth location was consistently above average, the Back Bay location was all over the place. For example, the grilled cheese sandwich with Orleans fries we had a week ago was spectacular but the one we got in Boston tasted like stale fry oil (I couldn’t even finish half of it, not worth the calories!) and the fries served with it were cold and had what tasted like freezer burn. Completely inedible.
On the plus side, the service was great. Our request to cut up some veggie sausage into the nachos was accommodated, and the nachos themselves were pretty tasty, with abundant cheese and two kinds of olives.
With all the veg-friendly, vegetarian, and vegan options in Boston, I would definitely not bother going back to this location.
Pros: flex menu, accommodating staff, breakfast all day
Cons: lackluster food

great to see a friendly toast in the crowd - Edit
So happy to see this pop up on the app, Iv been to the Portland ME Location years ago so stopping here was a must. The friendly toast Boston held up to my high expectations too. The nachos and tofu scramble were amazing, and the service was great. The vegan cashew mac and cheese was a little lackluster compared to some of the gooey soy/almond versions iv had but still a tasty dish. Definitely going to stop back next time I'm in Boston and try a few other dishes, and would highly recommend The Friendly Toast to anyone who's a fan of American/comfort foods!

Have eaten there twice; glad there's veggie options. But food isn't that exciting. Won't be going back due to lack of interest--food isn't bad, just didn't impress me.

Delicious diner-style favorites - Edit
This place is kind of tuckered out of the way on a side street, right across from a great little playground. I split the vegan nachos with my table, and they were fantastic...thin, salty chips loaded with vegan cheese, chili, and veggies. I ordered the beet burger, which was delicious and came with really good fries and homemade pickles. My 2-year-old loved his chocolate chip pancake and veggie sausage. I saw so many other things on the menu that I wanted to try, so I'll definitely be back, especially for the vegan mac-and-cheese. Service was very friendly, and not rushed at all, even though the place was packed.

A non-veg restaurant making a ton of awesome vegan choices! - Edit
We stumbled upon this place because they had trivia night on Tuesday's and we were looking for a place to play and enjoy some vegan food. It had tons of vegan choices including vegan pancakes and tofu scrambles/breakfast burritos served all day! When we got there, the servers and manager were very accommodating and even remade one of our wraps since we tried to substitute buffalo sauce out for BBQ not thinking about buffalo sauce not being vegan. But the chef said something before it came out to double check with our server and they fixed it for us no questions asked. The BBQ chikin wrap was delicious as well as the vegan nachos we ordered with vegan chili on top. Everything was delicious down to the chips they piled everything onto and the vegan cheese reminded me of Teese. The only downside was they didn't have any dessert on the menu but the manager said they had just created and rolled out this menu the week before, so hopefully that will change! We likely won't be back to Boston anytime soon, so I hope they keep this menu! Go, you won't be sorry :)
