One of the best vegan places in Lisbon - Edit
I went last September to the food temple. It was an amazing experience. The weather was so nice that we could seat outside on the stairs. We order main dishes and dessert. Best banana Crème Brûlée I’ve ever tried! Everything was absolutely delicious. Also the people that work there are super nice and ready to answer any question. I recommend this place 100% 😌 #Veganuary

Ahhh, Feliz Natal, pá! As I mentioned before, I showed up for a confirmed reservation for a Christmas dinner, only to find the restaurant closed—no notice, no message, nada. After making the reservation over a month in advance and traveling to Mouraria, a historic but slightly rough-around-the-edges part of Lisbon, on Christmas Day, the experience was deeply disappointing.
Here’s the update: the owner reached out personally to sincerely apologize, explaining that it was due to a system glitch. They even offered a kind gesture—a bottle of wine and a chance to come back for a better experience. While I appreciate the effort and their outreach shows they care, the original experience left a mark that’s hard to overlook.
Pros of the Follow-Up:
1. Sincere apology and acknowledgment of their mistake.
2. A genuine offer to make things right.
3. A reminder that small businesses are run by humans, and mistakes happen.
Original Cons:
1. Lack of communication about the closure still stings, especially on Christmas.
2. Trust needs to be rebuilt, especially after such a significant mishap.
I won’t be taking them up on their offer this time, but I hope they improve their system so no one else has to go through this. Mistakes happen, but how you handle them matters, and they did make an effort here. 🌟

Ahhh, Merry Christmas, mate! So they confirm my reservation on the 15th of November for Christmas dinner today, I show up all ready… and the place is shut! Not a message, not even a “sorry mate, we changed our minds”. Zero, nothing, nada! Just me standing there staring at the door like an idiot. Real classy, huh? Proper Lisbon service at its finest. 🎄 Zero stars lucky for them cause happycow does not allow it

In diesem kleinen, aber feinen Restaurant durfte ich ein 8-Gänge-Tastingmenü genießen, das mich auf ganzer Linie begeistert hat. Jedes Gericht war ein wahres Kunstwerk – sowohl geschmacklich als auch optisch. Die Kombinationen der Aromen waren hervorragend abgestimmt, und die Präsentation der Speisen hätte nicht schöner sein können. Hier merkt man sofort, wie viel Liebe und Leidenschaft in jede einzelne Kreation gesteckt wird.

Ich bin vollkommen zufrieden und kann dieses Restaurant jedem ans Herz legen, der Wert auf außergewöhnliche Kulinarik und erstklassigen Service legt. Eine absolute Empfehlung!

In terms of atmosphere and staff - no complaints, had a lovely evening. However some of the food and drinks were lacking something. Cassava mozzarella was pasty. The smoked olives though - literally the best olives I had in my entire life. If I were to give it another go, I’d probably go for the tasting menu.

Such interesting and creative dishes served in a cosy, warm and welcoming ambiance with staff thats super super friendly, helpfull and always smiling! Plus it seems they are having fun while cooking (the kitchen is open). Have been here multiple times and the menu always changes with really creative new dishes!

The restraunt has a great concept and we loved the ambiente! But the food on the current menu was not good at all. It reads and looks very nice but it is lacking some taste. It is all very plain. Maybe a little bit of salt could help… For the price of 28€ for the tasting menu not worth it. The sweets and wines were good though.

I really enjoyed this place. We tried almost everything in the menu and really liked most of it, especially the appetizers. Main dishes are also good, but not to the level of starters. I loved the cauliflower soup, the “mushrum” and the filo. Desserts were also good, highlight being the raw cake. I recommend sitting outside as it’s a great vibe.

Coming from Berlin, which is supposedly the vegan capital of Europe, I had better vegan food at this small place than in Berlin. Very nice atmosphere sitting on the stairs in front of the restaurant.

Some of the food we had was nice, but some of it was lacking in flavour. We enjoyed the filo parcels and olives but the arancini and seitan dish wasn’t for us. The setting is lovely though and the wines are really nice.

The Food Temple is well worth worshipping at. The dishes I chose were creative & very tasty -Arancini balls in a tomato sauce, Algarve salad (mushrooms instead of the mainstream use of octopi) and a main course featuring turnip infused with beetroot served on bulghur wheat flavoured with mint & lemon. The vegetables were cooked to perfection - my mother would have complained that they were undercooked! A great meal in an atmospheric & friendly place. I just wished the raw cake, sweetened with dates, would have been refined-sugar-free.

We went there in a company of four in early June 2024. The weather was wonderful, so we sat outdoors on the cozy steps with the tables and cushions. The indoors were also nice (although warmer), but it’s better to reserve early on.

Went here for my bf‘s birthday dinner and were not disappointed. The atmosphere was very calm and you could tell that everyone cared a lot about the food.

The Food Temple is a small vegan enterprise with a cosy inside restaurant and wide stairs on a small square outside A a terrace … with cleverly low tables and cushions one can comfortabele sit outside and enjoy the food and drinks served by a very relaxed and professional team.
Read moreWe ordered the tasting menu and liked it a lot. It is not from Heaven, but near excellent and good craftsmanship and lovely plated. Go there and enjoy a wonderful evening meal. So different from the seven main couses that all restaurants seem to serve in Portugal. A reservation entitles to a 10% discount! Don’t hesitate: just book and go, one will not be disapponointed!

The atmosphere is so unique if you sit outside on the steps. There are special small tables and cushions. We had the tasting menu and each dish was so artfully prepared. The green wine was delicious. The service was swift and friendly. We loved this little gem.
