Fresh, delicious, generous portions

Fresh food that is very delicious. Falafels are perfect and the assortment of sides are super. You will not leave here hungry because portions are huge. Very friendly employees who are helpful in figuring out what to order.

Pros: Fresh food that is VERY good, Huge portions , Friendly service

Cons: None - it’s wonderful

Perfect student lunch

Very affordable (for Bay standards), it's tasty (esp the hummus), big portions, and healthy (loads of veggies). Love all they have to offer, the sharawma and falafel are both excellent!

Delicious vegan falafel shop

Cute little shop selling variety of Mediterranean food including falafel baklava, hummus, Greek dolmas and more. The falafel was moist, crisp, and flavorful, and the sauces that came with it were tasty.

conceptually cool

The combination of sauces and veggies provided seems variable but the menu has more recently given customers the option to specify their preferences.

Pros: falafel jokes (for marketing/branding), apparently they use many organic ingredients

Cons: cramped, not much seating inside or out

Started out great, but...

Every time I go it gets a little worse. Portions are smaller, less choices, quality isn't as good, service is worse. Started out great. The server put on a show, flipping falafel balls into your plate like a juggler, huge sides, tasty, friendly and fun. I felt like I was getting a healthy meal with care put into it. Now it just feels like a dive fast food joint.

All vegan restaurant!

I ordered falafel, hummus, and pita on the side. I didn't care for the hummus but I loved their falafel!

I usually just buy the falafel and pita and ask for tahini. Their tahini sauce is really good!

They also offer vegan banana milkshake and vegan baklava. (I have yet to try but they look tasty!)

Pros: All vegan restaurant, Vegan desert available

Cons: May be hard to park

Affordable and delicious

I had the triple deluxe combo meal with falafel, fried chick'n, and chick'n shawarma. Everything was super tasty, especially the falafel. Can't wait to come here again soon.

Yummy fried cauliflower, great smoothie, easy location

All the toppings were great. Fried cauliflower was super tastey, good pickles, right off the Berkeley Bart station.

Very poor. I love that they exist but it’s not good food.

Seems like canteen or cafeteria food.

Pros: It’s vegan!

Cons: Soggy food

Skip the chicken shawarma

This is a cute divey little place but after trying the mock chicken I have to imagine the falafel is the better option. It's pretty rubbery and not really seasoned so it kinda just adds weird texture to an otherwise delicious pita full of interesting things.

Excellent!

Vegan falafel joint with faux chicken and shawarma. I always get the triple deluxe pita with all 3 proteins. Great banana milkshake. I would have given 5 stars but for some issues.. The place is understaffed so the tables and environment can get grimy. With the lack of adequate staff, not sure it's a lack of friendliness or if they're just too busy. Overall, great place for fantastic vegan Mediterranean food.

Definitely try this place!

They have a lot of great food here, not just falafel. The pitas, the veggie chicken, hummus, baba ganoush, and baklava were all great and very reasonably priced for the area.

Pros: Cheap!, Variety of Mediterranean food, Really yummy!

My favorite!

The Flying Falafel was founded by a super kind and awesome Berkeley grad. It continues to improve and get tastier! The chickn is soooo good and anything you get is delicious. It’s hands down my favorite and go-to place😄always hits the spot (I get it like once a week🙈)

Pros: 100% vegan everything!, Nice people work there , Consistent improvements and additions

Cons: Sometimes long wait, Sometimes confuse pita pocket for a plate , Expensive milkshake and baklava

So good

I was on my way to a class at UC Berkeley but worried I wouldn’t have time to grab lunch between when I arrived at the Downtown Berkeley BART Station and when the class was scheduled to begin. So I placed an order to pick up a falafel pocket ($8.69 with tax), and it would be ready by the time I arrived. The staff handed me my order after I explained that I had pre-ordered on Grubhub, and I was on my speedy way to campus. I arrived at my building ten minutes before class started, so I sat down outside and enjoyed ten minutes of heaven in the form of a pita sandwich: hummus, so many falafel balls I lost count, raw onions, cucumber, pickles, tomatoes, and parsley. It was so satisfying that I forgot all about being hangry during class.

Pros: great falafel, friendly service, affordable

Cons: too many napkins for pick-up orders
