Some very good vegan options

Up two flights of stairs. Lots of seating space, including an upper level. I had the full vegan breakfast, which was uninspired but satisfying, including coffee (decaf is instant), for £4.90: a thick slice of toast, two sausages, tomato, baked beans, mushrooms, scrambled tofu with peppers. On the tables are those tiny (silly, paper-wasteful) packets of salt and pepper (why is there too much salt in a single packet and only a few grains of pepper in a packet?). I visited again for the Sunday roast, which begins being served after 12 noon. Although I placed my order before 12:00, it arrived only at 12:30, “sorry for the wait.” The food was piping hot, with two slices of nut-grain-veg loaf, cranberry sauce, seven vegetables(!) (broccoli was overdone) and gravy (a bit thin). A satisfying meal, and I liked the loaf.

Pros: many vegan options, good Sunday roast

Cons: "The Egg" isn't an attractive name to vegans ;-), little packets of salt and pepper, only instant decaf coffee

amazing!!

Had our evening meal here on a visit to Liverpool and the food was delicious, and so much choice!! We came back for breakfast the next day! Both meals were unbelievable value and the place itself is really nice and spacious!

Pros: lots of vegan options, lots of choice, cheap, nice

Cons: none

Delicious vegan food

Love the art, music, service and vibe of this place and though not all food is vegan, the vegan options are clearly marked (including, to my excitement, vegan milkshakes!). The garlic bread is to die for, on door stop seeded bread, and the generous portions of salad are fresh, nutritious and delicious! Would love it even more if they had a greater range of vegan cakes but that is the only criticism I can find for this place.

Pros: music and artwork, affordable

Quirky

Top floor cafe with a hippy vibe. Various Vegan choices .I only had toast with jam and coffee at breakfast time. It was a good doorstop size
. I imagine some people may be put off by its shared shabby ground floor appearance but it's worth the climb to 3rd floor

Pros: Friendly

Cons: Outer appearache. .

Great vegan english breakfast

I was looking for a vegan english breakfast as it was my last day in England. It was more than affordable and just so good. The place is also very nice and the staff friendly.

Pros: Affordable

Good

I had the 'Blind Scouse' which was a stew. It was a bit bland, but I was looking for something healthy after gorging on junk food at Down the Hatch the previous day. It did the job. The berry smoothie was great.

The Egg Cafe is upstairs and it's a relaxed sort of place. There's plenty of things like humous and burgers, along with salads and cakes. About half of the menu is vegan so don't let the name of it put you off.

Very reasonably priced. All good.

Pros: Good value, Plenty of vegan choice

Amazing Spot

Came here with my mum for lunch during a day trip to Liverpool and was blown away! It's located in a lovely old building and the interior is very retro and inviting.

I got the spicy bean burger which came with pita bread and salad, it was only £5.65 (I think) and all the meals were around £5 which is amazing value as they are good portion sizes and very delicious! I think I'd prefer the burger to come in a bun instead of with a pita on the side but it was still good.

My mum got the vegan shepherds pie and said it was good but would be better if it had more potato and was a little less dry.

Then there were 3 non vegan cakes and 3 vegan options, so I got a chocolate crunch which was basically like shortbread/shortcake with chocolate which was very good and only £1.95, all the cakes were around £2-3.

Definitely very glad we came here for our day trip!

Pros: Lovely building and interior, Great value/cheap, Delicious food

Cons: make it all vegan!

Great value for money!

The staff is super friendly and everything is very reasonably priced. I had a chickpea and spinach pie, and it wasn't amazing, but I was really full after it for such an amazing price! They also had several cakes on display, so I'd definitely go again for dessert!

Pros: Good value for money, Items are clearly marked vegan, gf, nut-free, Cute interior design

Cons: Taste is a bit bland

Cosy Café

The interieur and the decoration are very convivial, the kind of place you would like to stay to chat.
The food is good, not great but for the prices (dishes of the day around 6.50£) it is very worth it. They have a regular menu and 3/4 dishes of the day and a soup.
Cake selections looked great!

Great location, average food

The location of the Egg Cafe is pretty interesting and unique and the location pretty central. They have plenty of seating over two floors. The Cafe is set up as a self service cafe with menus at the ordering counter which makes it a bit inconvenient and difficult to decide on a meal when visiting the first time as the menu displayed is a bit chaotic. While the food offering is plentiful, offering starters, mains and desserts I was a bit disappointed by the unimaginative menu. Most things you could order you could also get as a supermarket takeaway (such as the various salads). I ordered the hummus, pita and salad plate which was tasty but again, a bit unimaginative. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly, inviting to hang out a bit longer.

Pros: good value for money, vegan dishes are marked, starters, mains and desserts

Cons: Unimaginative menu, Menu display inconvenient

The Real Deal

Great vegetarian cafe, with good vegan options and well priced. Located on the top floors of an old building in the city centre, the area is well lit by natural light, and has plenty of space. I will definitely visit again, next time I'm in Liverpool.

Pros: Nice vibe, Good food choices, Large space that is well lit.

pretty good vegan food

The food here is always good. I like the environment and they always have something vegan so it's a good easy place to go eat in Liverpool. My dads been taking me here forever!

Meh

The food here is really nothing to write home about. If I'm going to spend money on a meal then I want it to be better than something I could have cooked myself. Instead I got a "spicy" bean burger which was not in the least bit spicy, not in a bun, served with an odd cold pasta salad and some sad looking salad. A real disappointment as I'd heard good things.

I was also surprised that a cafe that presumably markets itself as being ethical due to being vegetarian serves brands such as coca-cola and heinz

That being said the decor is cute, the prices are very reasonable and the staff are friendly

Pros: Nice decor, Reasonably priced , Friendly staff

Cons: Pedestrian food, Odd food pairings, Works with unethical brands

Simple and unpretentious

Have visited the Egg with my partner a few times, and we're always happy enough with the service and food/drinks but can't help but agree with other reviews on here that it's being overtaken by newer Vege/Vegan offerings in and around Liverpool with more ambition. The food is fairly basic and most mains appear to come with a large portion of salad/rice/pasta/hummus/couscous etc. We've visited 3 times now for Sunday lunch - the first time (around 4/5pm) was excellent. On our second visit they'd ran out of nut roast by early afternoon (2pm-ish), which was disappointing, especially as we weren't blown away by the alternative options, but we chalked it up to being busy on a bank holiday weekend. However again on our third visit they'd already ran out of nut roast by mid-afternoon which suggests that they simply need to make more! It's usually seemed busy enough to suggest that they wouldn't waste much.
The staff have always been friendly and there's usually plenty of bodies about so the service is good.

Pros: Nicely decorated cafe with relaxed vibe, Great vegan cakes!

Cons: Not a particularly adventurous menu, Seem to run out of nut roast early on sundays

Simple, tasty food. Nice cake!

Came here when visiting Liverpool and had a nice tasty pasta dish, was nothing fancy, and nothing I wouldn't have been able to make myself, but not complaining. Cool, comfortable atmosphere. Came back the next day for coffee and cake.

Pros: Good value, Good portions , Great cake!

yummy vegan breakfast and great atmosphere!

Our first morning in Liverpool and this was our first stop. We both had a vegan full English and enjoyed it very much, especially the sausages :)
The lady who served us was super friendly and even refilled my water bottle for me!
The atmosphere was great, good music at the right volume, very cool leaves painted all around the wooden structure, and the location nice and close to the centre of town.
5 stars!

Pros: good choice of vegan food, good prices, friendly staff

Cons: not accessible to those with reduced mobility

Throwback

I can't fairly give this place a review as I can't fully remember my visit a couple years ago, from what I can remember though it was alright. Nice quiet atmosphere, I only had a smoothie.

Pros: Vegan options, Good location

Cons: Needs some more life
