Fantastic Sunday Lunch

What a great pub. Food was delicious. I know how difficult it is to master the art of the vegan Yorkshire pudding so it was a real treat to have two on my plate alongside a delicious nut roast, great gravy and well cooked veggies. I’ll be back for sure and might bring my two pooches since it’s so dog friendly.

Pros: 100% vegan, Delicious food and friendly staff, Easy to park

Great pub

Along with the Ship in the Ouseburn, this is a fantastic vegan pub. The atmosphere is lovely, with friendly welcoming staff and in the winter a warming open fire. The selection of beers is brilliant, with some local beers on draft. The food is also brilliant, with a lot of choice as well- I always struggle to decide which option to go for! They offer a curry, tacos, burgers, a few pizza options and more. The vegan fish and chips in particular is fantastic, with lovely battered banana blossom. They have recently added a couple of cakes to the menu as well which were both really nice. Well worth a visit.

First Class

As a big fan of the Ship at Ouseburn, I had been looking forward to visiting the Carriage and what a fantastic pub it is. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was lovely and the food was delicious. We ordered the lucky fish and chips and the pulled jackfruit tacos with a side of chips. The chips and tarter sauce were superb, whilst the fish was flaky and texturally spot on and with a hint more nori could have actually been the real thing. The portion size I got was massive too. The tacos were very flavoursome as well but I would advise ordering a side of chips, as the portion size would be too small for a just a main. All cask ales were vegan too, so obviously I got one. I mean, it would have been rude not too.

Pros: Great food and ales, Friendly staff, Nice atmosphere
