Huge portions and live music!

Was impressed by the big portions and the food tasted quite good too, although there could have been more sauce on the vegan chicken. It's great that there's a busy live music schedule at an all-vegan pub! Only other things I'd mention is that the service could've been a little more friendly and the chairs aren't very comfortable either.

Note the kitchen is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Good food and some different beers

Lovely to have a vegan pub and the Caledonia is well located if you're attending the local ghost walk afterwards. The menu is seitan based fast food style. We had the chckn "wings", a side order of chips, the katsu burger and salt and pepper chips. It was well presented and served quickly. The seitan could do with a little more seasoning- the flavours were mainly in the sauces and toppings. The texture was excellent though.

The reason for 4 rather than 5 stars is due to the feeling of something missing, which we've come across in vegan pubs before. The toilets could do with being cleaner and the decor was a odd - it's a burgundy colour over everything except the walls that have green and yellow wallpaper. The furniture is uncomfortable and it doesn't make you want to stay there any longer than you have to. We're still yet to find a vegan pub we want to frequent.

Loved it

Right on the edge of the University campus, brilliant little pub come vegan cafe. Had the wings which were nice, friend had burger and chips which seemed okay. The beers looked good, so will be going back. Liked the interior - old pub feel.

Homely and great food

We've visited the Caledonia twice. From the outside it just looks like an ordinary run of the mill pub but once inside you find a fab all vegan menu offering great choices at reasonable prices. Sorry to see that Covid has caused it to shut at this time. I hope to visit again in more normal times.

Edit: Oct 21. The Caledonia has just reopened after a big facelift. It feels cleaner, warmer and just nicer (although I also loved it before!). The plastic trays have gone. The menu is the same, however, it's basically burgers and wings with different varieties of fries to choose from. I love it and make a beeline everytime I'm in Liverpool.

Not good

I went there one evening to eat, drink and enjoy the live music. The whole menu is vegan. The choices are burgers, wings and chips. I ordered a burger. Unfortunately, I can't write anything good about it. Actually, there's not much you can do wrong with a burger, but this one was really not enjoyable for me. I had to leave the food, something that never happens to me. My friend didn't enjoy the meal either. I'm sorry I can't report anything better about it.

Food is great, I love the standard British pub vibe with the school lunch trays! 100% recommend!

Back open and better than ever

The Cally is Liverpools only fully vegan pub. Excellent burgers and wings. The double cheese bacon burger is insta famous. The food tastes even better since the closing due to covid. Katsu wings are immense. The Cally is back! Oh and they have plates now!

Wouldn’t return

The setting isn’t really that welcoming and feels like a dirty pub. The school trays that the dinner was served on also weren’t clean (this was pre-Covid) and the food was so underwhelming especially considering all the hype that I’d heard about it.

Cons: Setting, Plastic school trays, Quality of food

Beer and a burger

Nice for a beer and a burger with friends. Quality is what you would expect from a pub kitchen. You could make it at home cheaper but where's the fun in that?

Average

I was left a bit disappointed by the burger and wings as they'd been hyped up so much. Wasn't a great fan of the plastic school trays either.

Lovely burgers

I love this place, it's true that I more often order from them and go in there but I love the burgers very much. One of my favourite vegan burgers of all. Their spicy chimken wings are also lovely. The staff is very nice and the pub itself has a lovely atmosphere.

Pros: Good food, alright prices, atmosphere

Excellent drinking pub with evening music and full vegan menu

This pub is awesome.
There's a full vegan "junk food" menu, including an ice-cream sundae! There's also a separate gluten free menu - ask at the bar.
They do music almost every night at 9 for free, and the beer selection is tasty if not huge. A wall of books to borrow and a very dog-friendly policy round this off.

Pros: Vegan junk food in a pub, Lovel atmosphere, Dog-friendly

Cons: Dog-friendly, Can be cramped.

Traditional pub selling all vegan food

A place I usually visit when in Liverpool, its a traditional pub none commercial with an occasional band playing sometime. The food is vegan fast food but great tasting

Pros: Lots of choice, Great prices, Friendly staff

Cons: Always a walk out of town, but not too far

Whole vegan menu

The whole menu is vegan. A lot of choice. They served the food on trays, like used to get in school. When I went to pub it was quite busy.

Pros: Whole menu is vegan

Cons: Get food on trays, I would just prefer a plate

Really improved - love, love, love

Vegan pub, good menu, good food, good prices.

Really improved lately, so it's time to leave a review. Cleanliness noticeably better than in previous years, still the weird plastic plates but hey ho!

Lovely atmosphere lately.

Ask for a pot of gravy with your chips.

Just wanted to nod to all their good stuff. Worth a visit. Xx

Pros: Vegan pub with a big heart

Cons: None

Vegan junk food at its best!

A very dog-motivated pub with an extensive menu of vegan junk food options. We had a hunt sabs ‘chimken’ burger (which they donate £1 of the price of to the local hunt sabs group) and a BBQ jackfruit ‘doggo’, both of which were fantastic. The coleslaw is one of the best I’ve tried and the side of mac and cheese balls was divine. Desserts are super trashy - the deep fried ‘Marz’ bar is an absolute must and the cookie sandwich was amazing. Highly recommended. Lovely people and good service too.

Pros: Extensive menu choices, Very tasty food, Range of trashy desserts - no sorbet here!

Cons: Options somewhat homogenous

Fast food heaven

We got a takeaway from here and picked it up. The pub looked really cool, but the food was even better. Great burgers and large portions. Would love to eat in next time and they have live music all the time in the evenings!!

Yummy junk food!

Great burgers, fries and wings.... and beer! If you want a vegetable, don‘t bother coming. But if you want some junk food, this is the place to come.

Best place to go

There's other vegan places in Liverpool but they're very formal, being greeted by a waitress etc.
Caledonia is a pub, so is MUCH more relaxed and much more friendly and not forced.
The food? It's gorgeous, and we now come here everytime when coming to Liverpool.
