So good!

Got the chef special that night—lentil burger. Wasn’t on the menu and it was amazing. Ambiance is laid back, service was great, drinks were delicious. Second time there and have been very impressed both times! Will definitely be back on my next CO trip!

Pros: Awesome creative menu , Service , Drinks!!!

Fun Place, Okay Food

I was very excited to try the Burrowing Owl, as the idea sounded great and it has opened since the last time I was in Colorado Springs. It definitely has a bar atmosphere, and the service was great; everyone was very friendly. The beer and drink selection is good and was reasonably priced.

I was a little disappointed in the food. There are a few food categories (i.e. vegan mac, nachos, tacos, etc) with the same sorts of toppings and variations for each category. The protein options are beans and sloppy joe mix, which seems like kind of a strange choice. It would be nice to see some tofu, seitan, or tempeh on the menu.
That being said, my "The Works" mac (spicy mac with sloppy mix) was good., and I thoroughly enjoyed my evening here.
I think if I lived in CO Springs, I would go semi regularly for the drinks and some snacky shareables or late night food.
I do highly recommend the adult chocolate milk (bourbon, almond milk, peanut butter, choc sauce) for dessert or night cap, as it was super tasty!

Pros: All vegan bar, Great service

Cons: So-so food menu

AMAZING

I ordered the "Sasquatchos (add the house mac on top & hold the chili sauce)", my friend got that night's special of "Chimichanga (add house mac on top)" and they both were KIIIILLERRRR. We could have LICKED our plates clean! And the dessert ice cream bar was SOOOOO tasty!!!

Cheap Beer, Hipster Atmosphere, Delicious Vegan Food!

Exactly what the title says! First and foremost, this is a bar. Unique decor, awesome hand painted bathrooms, and cheap canned beer (one of a kind vinegar based cocktails in a jar too). My husband and I shared a salad, nachos, and Shepard’s pie. I felt stuffed and satisfied! Only word of advice would be to skip the cheesecake- portion was TINY for $4.95 and appeared to be just a store bought Daiya dessert. Oh well. 9/10 :)

Not healthy, but if you want junk food!

Everything has cheese and carbs, so don't plan on eating healthy here.

Pros: desert options, alcohol, atmosphere

Must Visit!!!

We were visiting Colorado Springs from out of town and found the Burrowing Owl on HappyCow. We decided to give it a try and were blown away!!! Love the "old school" lounge vibe that they have and the food was beyond delicious!!! The staff was passionate about their products and about the Vegan lifestyle. We took an Uber from the Broadmoor the first night and then Uber'd again for takeout the next!! We are in love!! If we're ever in Colorado Springs again we're definitely coming back!!! Everyone keep up the good work!!!

Pros: All Vegan Menu, Sustainable Products, Passionate and Knowledgable Staff

Great Service, Good Food

My family of 6 (2 pre-teens, 2 teens, mom 'n dad) needed some good vegan food while visiting Colorado Springs, so we checked out the Burrowing Owl. Mind you, this is first and foremost a bar/pub, with a fairly limited menu to order food from.

Cost: $80 for the 6 of us. Each got 1 dish, then we shared 1 piece of cheese cake.

Service: Super friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable without being hovering. Great wait staff.

Food: I had loaded nachos, which was a large dish. Plenty of food there. The 'beef' crumbles were a bit salty, but otherwise good. The loaded Mac'n cheese was good, not quite a big enough portion, but good. The cheesy burrito certainly didn't fill up my 13 year old son, so he ate 1/3 of my nachos. 14 year old daughter tried the biscuits and gravy, and they had a weird sweetness to them. A couple house burgers with a side of potato chips filled up my two pre-teen boys.

The cheesecake was great.

All in all I would recommend the Burrowing Owl, it's certainly not LA quality vegan food, but it satisfied our family.

Pros: Service, Food was delivered quick, Very delightful decorations

Cons: Some of the Food was a bit salty

Wonderful all around

As a vegetarian with an unfortunately newly-found nut allergy, eating away from home can be challenging. This place not only accommodated my issues with nuts, but they did so with a sincerely friendly attitude. They helped me with the menu, made suggestions, and double checked with the kitchen as far as ingredients. The sushi platter I ended up getting was really good as well! Next time I am in Colorado Springs, I will definitely try to go here.

Pros: Friendly service, Homey atmosphere , Good beer selection

Best Vegan Food in Springs!

Everything on their menu rocks! A few of my favorites are the Eric Tostrada, Spicy Mac & Smothered Shepherd's Pie. The drinks are fabulous too- do yourself a favor and order the Adult Chocolate Milk. The service and atmosphere are also on point- definitely my favorite place in the Springs :)

Birthday Treat

Finally was able to try this place out yesterday. Went with my adult children, one vegetarian and one carnivore. It was my birthday so I got to pick. We got there at 5 on a Saturday night. Not crowded. It's essentially a bar. Nice casual atmosphere inside. Our server was very helpful. The food was good. No one complained which is a miracle. I had the tostrada. Just spicy enough for me. I also had the strawberry fields drink. It was tasty. Not sweet at all. We are sorely lacking good Vegan places in the Springs so I will probably be back.

Owl Be Back!

This place is fantastic! The staff is welcoming and friendly and the food is delicious. My hubby and I had some potato soup and nachos and everything was so full of flavor and served beautifully. The atmosphere is casual but the attention to detail in the decor is impressive. Their beer selection is very impressive and I was so grateful that they even had a damn fine gluten-free beer for me. We'll definitely be back when we're down in The Springs. I highly recommend a meal or three here!

Pros: Delicious Food, Friendly Staff, Welcoming Atmosphere

Top notch food /drinks "burrowed" away in an inconspicuous strip mall

We stopped at The Burrowing Owl for an early dinner while traveling through Colorado Springs. The woodsy decor was absolutely charming, especially the bar. There was a small patio for outside seating, but we opted for an indoor high top table that fit our family of five. They even provide board games! We started with an appetizer of nachos which were absolutely delicious. The queso in particular was excellent. I ordered the classic Sloppy Joe, which was also great. I'd never had jackfruit as a pork replacement and while it lacks the tenderness of pork, the taste is very similar. I finished the meal off with mint chocolate chip ice cream, which tasted homemade and was an awesome ending to an awesome meal! This was enjoyed by both the vegans and non-vegans alike in our family. Oh, and don't forget the drinks! I'm not a drinker myself, but they have very tasty and very reasonably prices cocktails, as well as beers and some wine. Two thumbs way up! Don't leave Colorado Springs without stopping here!

Pros: Inexpensive, Charming decor, Delicious variety of vegan bar food

Awesome Food, Great Bar-Restaurant Atmosphere

I LOVED my nachos from here that I went 30 minutes out of my way to get some to go the next day.
It's a small-ish bar/restaurant with gray walls and kind of an ecclectic decor.
We sat at the bar, the bartenders are really friendly, and scarfed down nachos, soup, sloppy Joe sandwiches and LOVED it all!
If I lived in the area, I'd be getting my drink and vegan food on EVERY weekend!

Pros: Yummy food, Stellar ranch salad, Friendly staff

Cons: Wish it seated more

Beer and Food

The Borrowing Owl has one of the best Craft Beer selections in town. Especially if you are a stout drinker. Their food is good...maybe even great if you don't know how to cook. Its Bar food. This is the best place to stop after bar hoping with friends when you want nachos or a House Sloppy at 1:30am. They've also got games. Since word got out its a little more difficult to find seating. I believe they might actually have wait times soon.

Fantastic food + drinks

The Owl makes some amazing comfort vegan food to go along with the many cans of craft beer and great cocktails. They also go out of the way to make a difference. We went in there on Christmas (yes, they were open!) and found out they had a free buffet. We ordered drinks and tipped well as we expected to pay for meals for 4.

The cocktails are very affordable, beer selection great, and the food will leave you with that feeling that you just visited your grandma and she stuffed your face with all of your favorites.

Pros: Comfort food, Affordable drinks, Free shuffleboard!

Cons: Small space, so tables can be hard to get, Not close enough to my house

Not terrible but...

I've been there twice with friends. I am vegan, have been to other vegan restaurants, so I just want to give you (probably also vegan person) a good idea of what you're in for. Keep in mind that they're only a year old at the time of writing this, so there's room to grow.
Pro: the outdoor patio, chess tables, the tables salvaged from the Black Forest fire, the inviting stickers for cyclists, LGBTQ people and of course vegans.
Con: Portions are small, not filling, not worth the money in my opinion. I don't mind paying good money for a meal, but other vegan restaurants I've gone to give you an actual meal. My boyfriend's sloppy joe didn't come with any sides, 8$. My taco salad was supposed to come with ranch but seemed to have the smallest squirt of it possible, also undersized, also 8$. I'm getting hungry thinking about the portions lol. The parfait was probably the most disappointing. 5$ for a baby food jar filled with not very deliciousness. Same with the ice cream, not as good as it sounds on paper, not worth the money.
Pro: They host a 'Vegan Drinks For A Cause', and other vegan stuff here and there. They hire alternative looking people. They want people to socialize so they have no wifi (I guess that's kind of a con too, I work from my laptop so maybe I'd hang out more if they did). They're eco conscious.
All in all, I like some of their food items like their sloppy joes were tasty but I would go there mainly just to support a vegan business. Their menu is limited and has lots of ingredient repeats. I want to see them grow.

Pros: nice vibe

Cons: small portions

Its the first Vegan place in COspgs

PROS:The food was good. local and intentional food.
CONS: lots of the same ingredients made into different dishes, so no variation. the cheese sauce was spicy, which is fine for the adults at our table but not the kids.

Pros: local vegan, intentional, friendly staff

Cons: not family friendly menu, menu is limited--no variation, tables are tiny

Best beer coozie ever

The Burrowing Owl has some awesome vegan bar food. I loved their serious nachos, the burrito, and the sloppy Joe. Our non-vegan friends had never had vegan cheese and were really skeptical, but the LOVED the food. It was a great first vegan experience for them. Best of all is the beer coozie they serve their cans in. It cost $1, but it totally worth it.

casual gem

We found this place on Happy Cow and couldn't have enjoyed it more! Wonderful people with a mission. The atmosphere is sustainable and handmade, and the owners were warm and welcoming. Inexpensive food and lots of drinks. We only wished we could live nearby to become regulars!
