THE MOST PERFECT PLACE

I go here almost every week. It’s amazing. They use no oils. It’s healthy, clean, and the staff are so cool.

Pros: Nachos, BLT, Curry

Cons: Service, Water, Etc

So quirky!

Love this place, the staff is amazing and the are so many options! I had a difficult time choosing. I ordered the meatball sub and a veggie soup. Yum!

Love this place!

Atmosphere is super cozy and everyone is very friendly. Good selection of beers and food; I love the Mac and cheese and crunch wrap especially!

Not for everyone

I really wanted to like this place. First time we went, it was alright. The air-fried chimichanga was good enough, but nothing that I couldn't match at home. The second time we went, we got the supreme nachos which were tasty. We got the works mac n cheese and the rice and bean bowl supreme. The mix of flavors were a little off-putting and not in a desirable way. The dessert cake was cold and dense which is typical for restaurants that don't bake in-house. The worst part was the music. Constant screamo/metal for the entire meal. It ruined the entire atmosphere for my group that we were itching to leave as that was just not our vibe. I think this place has potential and would love to see more dive bar food like vegan burgers or vegan buffalo wings to fit the atmosphere. Not sure if we'll go again, but it serves as a good place to get okay vegan junk food.

Pros: Bleu cheese crumbles, Decor is interesting, Waiters are very nice

Cons: Music selection, Desserts, Flavors of entrees

Quirky Atmosphere with Excellent Service

The kind waitress alone deserves 5 stars - the service was impeccable and so friendly. The restaurant itself is full of unique decor that feels more pub and homey than restaurant. There are several batch cocktails, and I only wish I was able to try more of them! The ones I did try were so good.

The food - I was slightly overwhelmed by the amount of choices (in a good way!). Ended up trying the nachos, which were salty in the best way. Their Caesar salad was good, but not my favorite vegan Caesar I’ve had. The other stand out is the dessert - the vegan Ding Dong cake was HUGE and stupidly delicious.

Pros: Excellent friendly service, Plenty of food choices, Dessert

Could Not Ask for More

We went here for my birthday and it was incredible. Our waitress was super knowledgeable, had great recommendations and honestly, was just so much fun!
We wanted to order everything but decided to settle on a mix.
I got the nachos- we both loved them. Just the right kick.
The spicy Mac n cheese was exactly what i wanted.
I have celiac but my girlfriend was obsessed with her ding dong and i loved my cookie.
I was excited that even all of the alcohol is vegan and the employees make up shots- the one i got was sooooo good.
We’ll definitely be back!!!

Will Need a Second Chance

I enjoyed the Burrowing Owl for lunch with family, who were not all vegan. The atmosphere is unique, I can’t think of another restaurant it compares to. The staff was friendly and helpful with recommendations.

The food was not bad, but not very impressive when compared to other vegan places. I sampled my toddlers Mac and cheese and neither of us liked it. The fresh veggie wrap that I got was decent, nothing stood out to compliment it on - nor complain about. We opted for both the cookie and cake for dessert and both were split by the entire table of about 6, and we all enjoyed them both.

I would go here again and try some of the other options.

Fully vegan delight!

Great vegan food options. And 100% vegan place which is no easy thing in tourist areas a. Alcoholic beverage options overload ( we don’t drink but drinkers will appreciate). Excellent vegan desserts!

Best Vegan Spot!!

My husband and I were in town to visit his brother, and we are newly vegan. We are very dedicated to sticking this out. We found The Burrowing Owl, and they had the best fully vegan options that are made from scratch, quality, and filling. Great coffee as well!

Quality Comfort Food

This restaurant has a great look and feel. Their cheese sauce is really good and it’s not heavy or overly salty. My favorite was their gumbo (soup of the day), and there’s an option to serve it over rice. Ask for their house made jalapeño hot sauce!

Comfort food!

Good service, cozy atmosphere, and yummy vegan comfort food. We had the chicken bacon ranch tacos and Philly mac n’ cheese…both were very good. Highly recommend trying the ginger beer, if you love that sharp ginger flavor. They make it homemade. So good!

Cool and all vegan!

Love an all vegan restaurant where I really struggle to pick what I want to order. Thankfully had a friend with me to share a variety of things. Creative cocktails. Mac and cheese. Taco salad. Lentil stew. Pistachio lemon cake. The star was the cake from a local bakery. All delicious.

Pros: Variety of options, healthy and more snack types

You Can Call Me Owl

This CO Springs burrow just felt right. Dim lighting was easy on the eyes. Eclectic decor intrigued. A playlist aired comfy classics by the likes of Tom Petty, David Bowie, and Paul Simon.

Beyond the cozy vibes, the tacos were nice. Nothing earth shattering, but satisfying. And with plenty more menu to try, owl certainly be back.

Nice atmosphere

We are vegan, visiting my non vegan family, from out of town. We come here often when we are here. The food is good, the ambiance is relaxing, and the service is always spectacular. The BLT and desserts are always huge hits with my non vegan fam. The cheese is a little controversial, though. Both the vegans and non vegans were split. Me (vegan), my mom and my brother (non vegans) didn't care for it much. My honey (vegan) and my dad (non vegan) liked it. Regardless of the cheese, the rest of the food is great, and we plan to come each time we're in Colorado Springs.

A fun place

The atmosphere and employees are always nice! The food is good but could be more flavorful for the price. My favorite has been the breakfast burrito:)

Alright taste, lots of options

I was super pumped about this place but from what I tried, it was just alright. They used beyond meat which i personally don’t care for so that may be why

Great food and ambiance

-The food was awesome. We ate there twice and all the items we tried were really good. They have a large menu and were very accommodating in terms of allergies.
-The place has great ambiance. Even the bathrooms were very tasteful with beautiful artwork on the walls and some cool lighting.
-The staff were very friendly. They even shared a recipe of one of the items with us (they actually let us take a photo of one of the recipe sheets they use)
-The hours of this place are very convenient. They are open till midnight and 7 days a week.

Pros: Food, Ambiance, Service

Tasty Variety!

This place has such a great seating area. Loved the wood and comfy seats. The decor is old-school and fun. My husband is not vegan, but happily eats with me, and he really enjoyed the food! We got the sloppy Joe nachos and the breakfast burrito. Both of them were so delicious! We got both peanut butter desserts; the cupcake and the cookie. They were wonderful. We also enjoyed the hibiscus pineapple kombucha on tap. It was so fresh!!
I should have mentioned that the staff is fabulous… super helpful and patient as we took awhile to figure out what we wanted… I have allergies!

Surprisingly Disappointing...

We had such high expectations for the Burrowing Owl due to the numerous positive reviews, but our experience left much to be desired.

The ambiance is unique and the staff is friendly. The restaurant leans more towards a dive bar atmosphere rather than being family-friendly. They were thoughtful enough to serve little kids drinks in a sippy cup, but they didn't have a high chair. Not a huge deal for us, but it could have enhanced our dining experience.

The biggest letdown was the food itself. We found it to be rather meh and unhealthy, leaning heavily towards vegan junk food. While it seems like the menu is really diverse at first glance, many of the dishes actually revolve around the same handful of ingredients. We ordered an array of dishes - philly mac n cheese, sasquatchos, chimichanga, a caesar salad, and carrot cake - and were basically eating cashew cheese and TVP meat served in a variety of ways. It was all just okay. The highlight of the meal was the carrot cake which was sourced from an external vendor.

Overall, while the atmosphere and staff were pleasant, the lack of variety and blandness of the food left us underwhelmed.

Exactly what you want in a veg restaurant

Staff is super friendly, casual atmosphere and chill vibes. Food comes out of the kitchen quickly, and portions are good and large. Recommend sitting at the bar to talk to the staff while you eat.

Pros: Reasonable prices , Large portions

the vibe is lit, the food and beverage as local as possible and incredible, and the staff was uber friendly, knowledgable, and attentive. i tried to stuff the whole menu into my face and nearly succeeded. can't wait to visit in warmer weather for the outdoor seating.

Pros: the vibe, the food, the staff

Cons: none, none, none

Damn good.

Fun dive bar ambiance with great service and excellent comfort food. I had a house kombucha that was delicious, along with the Nachos Supreme that satisfied all things missing from the standard vegan cuisine. The nacho cheese was on point! Definitely will be back.

Immaculate vibes

Good drinking food but nothing special. Lots of options but they're all a little mid. The southwest queso was kind of weird but the cheese served with the pretzel is so so good.

Chill vibe, awesome service, tasty food

The Burrowing Owl is the vegan place to eat in Colorado Springs. When you’ll enter you’ll understand with its down-to-earth pub vibe and exceptionally friendly staff.

The menu may be described as comfort food and a bit of Midwest-Mex. The loaded nachos were ridiculously tasty and filling.
