Fun atmosphere, great location on Whyte Avenue, amazing food! - Edit
During out trip to Edmonton last May, it was getting pretty late but we were craving some good vegan food and drinks.....thankfully The Buckingham (@thebuckonwhyte ) on the eclectic Whyte Avenue .. was open for the save!
Read moreTheir food is 100% vegan, what you might expect to find in a diner or bar, decadent and hearty hearty hearty! If you want healthy, they do have three salad options to choose from. We went with the Buffalo Mac'n'Cheese, Poutine, Chkn Wings and ....oh my ... Deep Fried Oreos. We don't really have vegan Poutine options here in Seattle (if you know of any, please do drop a note in the comments section letting me know where) so it's always a treat going to Canada and comparing the various Poutine options as pretty much every vegan place has their own take.
If you haven't been to visit yet, you owe it to yourself to try them out. If you find yourself visiting Edmonton, make a point to visit Whyte Avenue and walk up and down the strip checking out all of the store and most definitely, including The Buckingham in your visit.

Fully vegan pub! - Edit
It's great to find a fully vegan pub in Edmonton! The BBQ burger and garlic fries are delicious, and they have awesome happy hour deals every day (10$ for 2 oz cocktails) and daily specials as well - I came on a Tuesday for their margarita special, and they also have 50% off burgers every Thursday!
Read moreI was a bit disappointed by the buffalo chicken wrap, however; the tortilla was poorly wrapped and it was already falling apart by the time it was served to me, and the seitan "chicken" was way too tough.
Service was very friendly and attentive. Reasonable prices. Nice shaded second-floor patio.

Big disappointment - Edit
I really wanted to love this place, but man, huge let down.
Read moreI ordered the Taco Salad, one of my favourite things to eat. No more than 5 minutes after ordering, my meal was brought out, which was shocking and way too quick.
I assumed this would be a large portion of salad for $15, but alas, I was wrong. This was essentially just a bunch of romaine lettuce, some unseasoned Gardein crumbles, jarred salsa, and a couple shredded carrots. A total of 2 crumbled tortilla chips sat on top. It basically tasted like nothing. I was still hungry after eating the entire thing, which never happens to me.
Service was also not excellent. Only 2 other patrons and staff seemed annoyed by our existence

Unfortunate Experience - Edit
Took out my non-vegan family to this restaurant hoping it was “meaty” enough that they’d enjoy it because I saw the great reviews. Burgers were left uneaten, there’s hardly any potato in the fries, food came out semi-cold, nachos were pretty bland and disappointing, old lettuce, flat coke, probably understaffed, with a poorly working toilet cubicle in the men’s (I won’t give you imagery). Staff were kind, but hard to find. It was a mostly empty restaurant but there was a 45 minute wait for the food and another 25 minutes after asking for the bill. Forgot to add the stomach ache I got while eating my dinner - it was way too greasy.
Read moreThe sweet potato fries and the deep fried pickles were great! Not good enough to increase the stars unfortunately. Unfortunately it was their first experience of a vegan restaurant too, so it adds to the sourness of the experience.

Great comfort food! - Edit
Honest one of the best places in edmonton for comfort vegan food. Definitely doesn’t go for the health route, but if you are looking for a good burger, wings, or donair! It’s the place to go.

The food is just like any other classic greasy pub, except it's vegan. Good option if your getting drunk on Whyte Ave.

Great Corn Dogs and Fried Chicken Basket - Edit
It was amazing to have a vegan Corn Dog, the taste, smell and structure of this dish was just great. The Fried Chicken Basket was also fantastic, two big "chickens" with a awesome taste and a perfect matching gravy. Both dishes came with fries and we had enough on our plate for a quick dinner.

Great vegan pub grub, beers and music - Edit
All vegan all the time is the saying on the menu. The folks who operate this Edmonton institution give a damn and have fun doing it. Sit down and grab a sea change lager and a sinfully delicious bar favourite. Catch great rock music or dance the night away. This is my favourite bar in Edmonton.

Excellent! All the greasy pub food you'll ever want. - Edit
I ate here twice during my visit of the Edmonton Fringe. I kind of love the irreverence of not renaming anything that is traditionally made with animal products. I also didn't think I'd ever hear the sentence: "What would you recommend for a non-vegan." at a bar.
Read moreThe chicken and waffles were absolutely amazing. The chicken was more meatball like than fried chicken but it was very tasty nonetheless. The Buffalo chicken wings could've been a little crisper and less greasy but I still enjoyed them. The BBQ burger was a bit of a flop, the patty was way to soggy. I tried the greek wrap without cheese the next day and this was definitely a great choice if you are looking for something less greasy but still delicious. Loved the Mexi-fries. A non-vegan friend ordered the mac-and-cheese but without the hot-sauce and he was quite delighted as he hadn't enjoyed proper mac-and-cheese since becoming lactose intolerant.
Cons: Benches are a bit of a ripped clothing hazard

Typical Greasy Bar Food - Edit
MY last meal in Edmonton and it was good, but not great. Typical greasy bar food, and hot overpowered flavor. Not too spicy that I did not like it. But everything had some hot sauce or simple spices that overpowered the rest.

Good Vegan Pub Fair - Edit
On a visit to Edmonton, a friend took me to The Buckingham. We ordered the wings as an appetizer, I ordered the BBQ burger (with poutine fries) and my friend ordered the donair. The wings were so-so but we both enjoyed our entrees and the poutine was pretty good!

Can’t believe there is a vegan bar - Edit
Was so happy and surprised there is a vegan bar/pub in town. Service and food was good. We went on ‘wing’ night and it was such a good deal! Tables where very sticky but it is more of a bar so that’s kinda expected but not fun. Music was very very loud even though we went early just for eats.
