Go for the Hoppy Hour - Edit
The drink specials were good value: a jug of Sangria was $15. I found the food was quite over-priced for what it was. Paid $22 for a really small burger and fries. Tasted fine. Much like a McDonald's burger which is what they were going. The jalapeno poppers with cashew cheese were pretty good, although came with BBQ sauce instead of the aioli as stated in the menu. The dessert was tasty. $12 for the praline cigars. It was a serve of 4 small spring roll wrappers with tiny pots of pistachio ice cream and chestnut cream. However, the cigars weren't even filled with the praline: they just put a small amount in each end. That was disappointing given the price. Good place for a drink with a nice ambiance and interior, but the food isn't value for money.

Beautiful place, great food - Edit
First thing you notice when you come in the place, it's the place. The decoration, the lights, the plants, you are already away from all your troubles.
Read moreThe service is also perfect. I can be a bit picky or demanding and the staff has been lovely and very helpful.
The food looks great, presentation is lovely, but most of all taste is here too ! It's a bit out of Wellington city center but it really worth a go. Plus, it's just in front of the beach, where you can relax after eating there.
Definitely would recommend it !!

The BEST breakfast - Edit
I was only in Wellington for two nights but wish I could go here every morning. I had the vegan avocado mash and my boyfriend had the vegetarian ‘Big Lyell’. Both were delicious! Plus, the interior decor is beautiful.

Outstanding - Edit
Popped along with my partner and friend and really enjoyed the laid back vibe. Gorgeous views, really friendly staff and the food was amazing so much choice and big portions. Went for the *fush and chips* which was light and gorgeous. Definitely worth your time coming here and if I'm ever back in wellington it'll be my first stop!

Been here 5 times now and will continue to go back. So many options to choose from and taste wise you will not be disappointed. I have tried just about everything on the menu and everything is amazing. Portion size could be a bit better but other than that I highly recommend this place. It is the most beautiful restaurant too and looks amazing. Very friendly staff also!

Worth the walk - Edit
Had it not been by a personal recommendation, I'd have completely missed out on this place - due to its location quite far away from Wellington CBD. (I walked and it took me about an hour!)
Read morePlenty of vegan options - all clearly marked - from the generally all vegetarian menu. I had the Bahn Mi-burger which was a flavour sensation as predicted.

Great food, atmosphere and service! - Edit
A nice range of vegan options, the food was delicious, filling and reasonably priced. The cafe is in a great location, looking out to Lyall Bay beach if you sit out front, and inside is also very nice with lots of hanging plants etc. The service was really good, friendly and there wasn’t a long wait for our food. Will definitely be going back to try out more off the menu.

Vegan brunch at the seaside - Edit
The Botanist does fancy, cafe brunch food, without the meat. We love that they have some cheap options too - huge bowl of hand cut fries with vegan aioli ($7/8) and a lime soda ($2), yes please.
