Yummy - Edit
Lovely little place. Delicious food and smoothies. Yummy dessert options too.
Read moreThey do charge you extra surcharge to sit with a group more than 5 (even though there’s no table service) which seems a bit dodgy!

Basic - Edit
Nothing super fancy. I got the papaya and the gluten free toast. The papaya had an option for granola so I figured they put it on the papaya with a yogurt dressing or something no just a cup of granola on the side and then a plain papaya with fruit no dressing of yogurt like I’ve had other places. And the avocado toast was nothing super special might be easier to eat with the cucumber and tomatoes if they cut them up cuz you bite and it just slides off onto the floor.

Great Place for Lunch - Edit
We visited in late January 2024. There was no wait to order and it seemed to be mostly locals eating there. Chill environment. Good food and pleasant staff. We had two smoothies - one called 'acai' which was a bit boring, but the other one, called 'Freddy's' was a delicious chocolate peanut butter banana number! My partner had the Mexicali Blues egg dish and loved it. I had 'A healthy plate of food' and it was great!

Beet box cafe
Read moreLarge restaurant from what I’ve seen on the small island of Oahu.
Very large menu with plenty of vegan options
Good parking, nice atmosphere/aesthetic in my opinion. Had some Ms. Lauren Hill playing in the background so you know what’s up.
Kind service. Not the fastest, but it’s quality and has a nice presentation
-Banana oats pancakes-> Nothing to rave about, my first time trying banana pancakes and they may just not be my thing, the outcome and presentation was well
-Home fries and Slices of tempeh fakin’ bacon-> Sauce on the side was very helpful for the dryness and accelerated the flavor. I enjoyed it
-Cold brew kick off-> Reminds me of a cappuccino I used to have at Wawa (New Jersey) growing up. Really good and with good ingredients
Would I come back? I could see myself coming back especially to check out their burritos and such.
I would say this place is very good for what it is. I got what I paid for and It seems that they put a lot of effort into each dish and everything works well together. I would say it’s more than fair, very good. 4/5 stars😄
Pros: Service/presentation, Taste , Size/atmosphere/parking

Good; could be better - Edit
Used to have good food from beet box as a regular customer some years ago; their what’s 4 breakfast with that delicious secret sauce was my super favourite; visiting back Oahu after 6 years I felt like visiting their new location in Kailua; ordered the same as to call back my sweet edible memories; sadly enough, that sauce I was craving, despite being mentioned as an ingredient was missing; asked the waitress, who was super gentle and attentive to me, she brought me sauce telling me that they forgot to add it; it was a different sauce than the one it should be which couldn’t match.

Great cafe, loads of options - Edit
Great cafe and it was open on the 4th July Public Holiday, that was a challenge for some tourists.
Read moreGood vegetarian cafe, loads of options, good parking I can imagine it can be very busy.
Good options to choose from, vegetarian items easy to veganize.
Not to Australians, when you order a side of chips, they are not hot chips like fries they are crisps like English people would call them, that was pretty funny, cause most of the sandwiches come with chips.
Pros: Good parking, Friendly staff, Condiments, water etc
Cons: Nope

Fav vegan place on the island - Edit
This is such a great place, the vegan bvq is outstanding. Pretty much anything on the menu is tasty. The staff is great and there are two locations both of which are good. Prices aren't too bad and locations are on both sides of the island.

Beetable - Edit
I ordered the Hello Burger, which is a veggie burger served on a toasted whole-wheat bun with garlic aioli, dijon mustard, baby arugula, pickled onions, and sliced cucumbers served with chips (or salad). I'm not sure what the patty is made of, but it had no flavor. The entire burger was bland despite all the ingredients. My partner ordered the Burrito Babe, which was served in a takeout box for some reason. It was too oily and lacked "Thai peanut coconut sauce" flavor. One of the employees seemed annoyed at the number of customers. It was busy, but the noise seemed especially loud.

Happened on this place through HappyCow I’m glad I did. Doing a boat delivery and ended up in Kailua unexpectedly. Needed to have a good meal after a few weeks at sea and this place really delivered. Absolutely love their Thai tacos

Would recommend! - Edit
Lots of options and great service. I visited here between beaches. Yogi bowl was the veggie kick I needed on vacation. Was heavier on the oil if you’re WFBP, but very very good and can’t wait to go back. There’s another location on the island too if you don’t make it over to Kailua again.

So-So, Good, Not Great - Edit
All of the non-veg’s with me loved their meals — they got the quiche and a papaya bowl. I had the three little birds sandwich and paid extra for the home potatoes on the side. Potatoes are soooo not worth it. Bland yet way over salted. The sandwich was fresh and yummy. It took longer to come out and everyone with me had finished their meals by the time it arrived, so that didn’t help. If I ever came back, I’d probably stick with an açaí bowl or try the pancakes. #Veganuary

The Beet Box Cafe - Edit
I've been to both locations over the years and, like some other reviewers have said, I also prefer the Haleiwa location. Nothing wrong with the food here though! I particularly love the healthy basics here such as the brown rice and black beans, they just good them right here!

Ok - Edit
The beetbox on the north shore is way better. This location just tends to struggle with long lines, staff that seem annoyed/aren’t helpful. We arrived at around 3pm only to wait in line for half an hour. By the time we ordered and our food would be out they were closing shop. They told us we couldn’t eat inside past 4pm which was disappointing. Their food is super good, but I hope they can make this location feel less stressful

Decent vegan breakfast - Edit
I really want to give this place five stars, however the food could have been a bit more flavorful. This place also is not 0 vegan, but had lots of vegan options. I got the Mc Jegger breakfast sandwich which came with a house made breakfast patty, just egg and cheddar cheese. I also got a coconut donut and chocolate love cake. The sandwich itself was ok, but like I mentioned before could have had more flavor. Overall not bad for a breakfast sandwich. The desserts were also decent. Personally it was nothing to write home about. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I would go back again and try a different dish in the future.

My husband ordered the Thai tacos and I had the Yogi bowl. The tacos were fresh and flavor packed. The yogi bowl’s eggplant was cooked with dare and the the overall flavor of the sauce was great! They also had fun kombucha flavors available.

Delicious vegan food! - Edit
My family picked up food from The Beet Box Cafe before going to Kailua Beach – the restaurant's location is great! We ordered the McJegger McMuffin, Zen bowl, Yogi bowl, Portabella Stache'wich, and Hello Burger. All of us—one vegan, one pescatarian, and three omnivores (one of whom has a gluten allergy)—really enjoyed our food. I like that the menu clearly lays out vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free options. I was a little bit disappointed that the pancakes and all of the baked goods contained nuts (almond milk) as I have a nut allergy so I couldn't try them. However, I'd definitely recommend checking this spot out!
