One of my favourite restaurants in the world - Edit
Delicious food, fake meats are fantastic as per Taiwanese cooking. The flavours are incredible, good menu. I came here 4 times in 4 days as it was only 10mins from my hostel but such such good food. The chef is really lovely too always smiling and laughing, she speaks really good English and the waitresses good enough. Can't wait to come back to Japan and eat here again!

So many dishes on the menue it's hard to choose. They even take requests, so I had mapo tofu with aubergine added in. Comes with rice and soup for an extra 150, Very cheap for what you get. Menue in English and Japsnese. Chef speaks good english. Perfect

Great food, great drinks, everything was very cheap, English menus available. There’s not much else you could ask for! Second floor up an outdoor staircase, so don’t miss it.

The food here is great, cheap and very tasty (I came here with non-vegan friends and they loved it)! Most of the items are vegan and the owner/cook is super lovely.

If you're looking for cheap, delicious and healthy food, this is the place to go to. It's on the second floor of a builing, but the restaurant is clearly marked on the streets.

I'm tempted to say the owner should feel free to charge more! I have had expensive, extensive vegan and vegetarian meals all over Japan but none of them compared to this. It's made with so much love! I will stop here again before I go to the airport.
Expect to pay less than ¥900 for a full meal including a drink

Some of the best veggie food. It's up the stairs next to the Italian restaurant, you go in and it almost looks like you're entering someone's flat but do not let this put you off. The woman running it is so friendly and lovely, and you can tell she takes pride in her food. It's incredibly low priced food, and it is delicious. Worth a visit if you're a vegetarian visiting Tokyo, especially if you are staying at one of the hotels nearby. Brilliant, would go back in a heartbeat

We had the sweet sour soy meat and the double cooked soy meat (each with rice about 750yen) and vegetable gyozas. Everything was very tasty! The staff is nice and an english menu with pictures is available. Very good proce and lot of vegans options.

Was looking for somewhere close to my hotel and this place came up. Lots of vegan options with pictures and English alongside the Japanese on menus, so very easy to see all the options. Staff were very nice, and the kitchen is open so you can see them cooking it all made to order. I had the sweet and sour soy balls with rice and soup, all very tasty and generous portions.

Watch out, kimchi contains fish sauce! - Edit
Very extensive menu of vegetarian and vegan items, from Taiwan, China, Malaysia (and even Pizza!). Be aware though that the kimchi is pre-made and contains fish sauce, so it’s not vegetarian - the friendly lady checked the label per our request. I sincerely hope the other pastes and sauces used are veg-friendly..

Had an amazing huge meal here. It was both one of the best meals we had during our trip to Japan and one of the cheapest.

Also, unlike a lot of the vegetarian places we’ve been to in Japan, they had a number of gluten free options.

If you are searching for good value for money in Tokyo, then this is the place to go. Taiwan Shokudo has a wide variety of dishes and prices are low. I had a set menu of braised tofu with vegetables, a bowl of rice and a cup of soup. The total price was 648 yen.
Read moreThe quality of the ingredients is average and the cooking itself doesn't seem to be that complicated, but for this price Taiwan Shokudo offers a great deal. My lunch was pretty good, so I'll be back for dinner some day!
Like others already wrote: note that the restaurant is on the second floor of a building. They have several big signs on the sidewalk, just climb the stairs to visit Taiwan Shokudo. For reference: on floor level there's an Italian restaurant called "Trattoria L'insieme" (see photos)

I recommand taking the rice and soup set because by default there is no rice to complement your plate.

They have one of the best fried dumplings. You can get fried rice made without egg. Cook is a vegetarian so she can understand your needs.
