Serves meat, vegan options available. Offers a variety of vegan tacos, a bowl, a sandwich, a quesadilla, sweet courses and soda. No longer fully vegan as of Jun 2021. Reported closed November 2021.
First off, the fact that there’s a place to get vegan food in the heart of a tourist spot like Cannery Row is GREAT, but there are some really weird things about this restaurant.
1. The menu is a handful of printed out sheets of paper that look like a million people have handled it already. Not cool in a pandemic.. they really should do a web version or at the very least a menu board or something.
2. “Tacos” that aren’t really tacos. Be warned, they have Avocado Tacos and Lettuce Tacos on the menu. It doesn’t tell you that these so-called tacos DO NOT include tortillas of any kind. The Avocado Tacos are literally an entire avocado cut in half (skin still on) with the taco filling piled on top of the two halves like some kind of salad. If you realize after the fact that you messed up and need tortillas, you’ll need to get back in line to order them.
3. No knives. All you get is a fork and one tiny, thin paper napkin. If you ordered a quesadilla, good luck eating that floppy, drippy thing.
Aside from all that, the food was pretty good. I’d probably go back, but would be much more cautious ordering next time.
Saw this one place with vegan items. Stood in line for sometime trying to figure out what to order. There was 8 items on menu. Not much detail of what's in the food. Got to counter and asked what was in the tacos. He went into the various meat choices. Then glancing back to see a line of people behind us. Then I asked about chips a guacamole. He said no.
How difficult can it be to print a menu with vegan and descriptions of food instead of asking the person at the register about what goes into a taco. Time is money and having people waiting inline is stupid.
We went to another Mexican food shop around the corner than has a complete menu with what goes into the food. The torta at the other restaurant was fantastic!
Wow. Modern lighting and seating, gorgeous seating. The food is still in the works as they just opened but the menu offerings are strong and delicious. Highly recommend the quesadilla and the french fry nachos.
