A good, but overpriced, plant burger - Edit
My wife and I shared a plant burger for $25. It was not the best one I ever had, and it took 20 minutes to get to the table.

Tasty, oil heavy - Edit
My husband and I ate lunch here excited to eat healthy food and support the local vegan scene. The food was really tasty. Friendly service, cute interior. Heads up to my SOS-conscious friends, we found both the ear the rainbow and the breakfast burrito to be rather oil heavy.

Tasty but too expensive - Edit
The food is awesome really! But these prices... Idk if that‘s due to the location, but I wouldn‘t eat here again just because of that.
Read moreI had the rainbow platter, 20$, delicious and filling. It‘s amazing to try etiophian food. The smoothie was 12$... Very tasty, freshly made, but also way too expensive.

I was kinda blown away by the burger - Edit
The veggie burger is one of those were you can see all the veggies, I have had a lot of those but this one was a masterpiece. Even the fries surpassed my expectations.

Different and delicious - Edit
Unique vegan restaurant that takes an unusual twist on Ethiopian cuisine. The tacos and hummus plate are to die for. We didn’t love the burger, but it is one of the more popular items. The Shai tea is amazing. #Veganuary

Gorgeous location & unique menu - Edit
I was so excited to have a vegan Ethiopian option on the westside since driving into SoFax/Little Ethiopia can be such an ordeal. It’s clear the chef really cares about the quality of her food and the purity of her ingredients as much as the experience of her customers.
Read moreEverything looks and tastes super clean and the menu doesn’t just offer traditional Ethiopian fare, though that’s also on the menu. I like getting more unique items I don’t see ever/often so I opted for the Teff Pancake platter and the Ethiopian coffee while my friend got the traditional plate with injera. While everything tasted super fresh and homemade, I wasn’t as crazy about it as I would have liked. The flavors were far more mild than I’m used to with this cuisine and the dishes were pretty dang expensive, even for Santa Monica.
The teff pancakes were crispy on the outside/edges and soft and spongy inside. The flavor was a very unique mix of savory from the spice blend and sweet from the blueberries. The tofu scramble was very mild. The stand out from this dish was definitely the seasoned potatoes - super flavorful.
I tasted everything from the rainbow platter my friend ordered - everything tasted super clean and fresh, but very mild. The dish wasn’t listed as GF so I don’t know that the injera was authentic/100% teff.
I really want this place to do well as I can tell how hard she’s working and at such a difficult time, though I’m hoping the recipes can be amped up.
Pros: Location, Unique menu items, Attentive owner
Cons: Not open Saturdays, Expensive, Mild flavor

Customer with severe food allergies - Edit
Great for people with food allergies: My teenage son, who has several severe food allergies, was visiting LA with a group from out of town. As always, I have to call ahead and request for special arrangements to be considered before my son can visit a restaurant. Tete, the owner, communicated at length with me a number of times via phone calls, texts, and emails to plan his meal. After much thought, Tete came up with a meal of polenta and kale, garbanzo scramble with rice, and sweet potatoes. The day of the visit, she followed up beautifully and went the extra mile to send me the list of ingredients to check on any possible allergy concerns which enabled me to eliminate one possible allergen. The meal was ready and waiting for pick up as scheduled. It was flawlessly prepared in a special way, and on top of that, was delicious, healthy, and hearty. The owner's interest in customer safety and satisfaction is unparalleled, which translated to the great care that it took for the meal to be executed so well. Tete is the kindest and most empathetic person I have ever encountered. I wish I could have met her to give her a hug. My son said it was the best meal on his five day trip and one if the best he's ever had the pleasure of eating. Excellent experience, Wonderful owner, Deliciously healthy food.
