Delicious & Affordable

This place is easy to spot from the outside, but it's very small. Still fine for a group of 4! The Taiwanese food is very good - We had the dumplings and the specialty plate. Both were awesome and we only spent $12. TBH, 3 probably could have eaten off of that. The owner speaks Mandarin and Spanish, but the menu also has English. She'll take USD, but you'll need to do the conversion.

Pros: delicious, cheap

Cons: only Spanish and Mandarin

not as good as expected

Unfriendly staff, food wasn't that great and very overpriced. I ordered dumplings and a chop suey and paid 7000 colones. Unfortunately it was not worth the price. The chop suey was very bland. Not what I am used to taiwanese cuisine!

Pros: Dumplings were okay

Cons: Hygiene , Staff, Authenticity

Worth trying

I had soup with dumplings and 2 other dishes. As usually in such canteens soups are really good and other items good, but oily. Regarding proteins there was soya meat and good piece of tofu in the soup.

Desde hace años de lo mejor

Fue de los primeros restaurantes vegetarianos que visité, y simplemente sigue siendo de los mejores de San José.
La comida tiene una sazón deliciosa.

Modest food

Small place, easy to miss. Look for the orange wall.
Nice and simple Asian food. All is vegan, except for the Arroz Cantones (containing egg).

Simply Delicious Plato Casado

I come here every time I am in San José, Costa Rica! The meal is always simply delicious and price is barato. Here are three times that I ordered Plato Casado! 😋 Ah, you really can’t beat $3.75 USD for a budget lunch like this in San José, Costa Rica!

By far one of the best Asian restaurant

This is definitely the best Asian food spot I've been in San Jose (and even out of Costa Rica). It's managed by a lady and her son, I think, from Taiwan and they do such a tasty simple vegan food Asian style, furthermore the price is super honest and last but not least they're very respectful, kind and lovely people. Only sane energy in there. Highly recommend!

Pretty good

After verifying that the noodles didn't contain egg, I ordered the noodle dish. It was alright, but literally dripping with oil. Portion sizes could also be bigger, although I guess the low price makes up for it. The staff was very friendly and overall it's a pretty good option.

Pros: Affordable, Friendly staff

Cons: Very oily

I don’t really know what I ate but WOW

I don’t get why there weren’t more people here. I ordered the casado and it was great. I couldn’t quite hear what was in it, all I got was that it was vegan, but that’s all I really needed to know. It was SO GOOD. There was this stuff that kinda looked like beef (but obviously wasn’t) that had this surprisingly sweet flavor, and something fried that was also really good among other things. I think I will be thinking about this food for awhile. It was also reasonably priced, especially for an entirely vegetarian/vegan place.

It’s a little hard to find, there doesn’t seem to be any sign out front, just look for the little place with the open door with the Happy Cow sticker.

Modest place with modest food and adequate prices

The menu is very short so it’s not so hard to make your decision. We tried the mixed plate, the dumplings and noodles. Everything was pretty good, quickly served without unnecessary fireworks. It seems that mom and her son that run the place are really harmonious duo. Modest, cute, simple, tasty, super cheap!

Pros: Cheap , Fair prices , Quick

Cons: Place is run down and dark

Great affordable vegan food

My family walked here after a long day at the children's museum. We got chop suey noodles and a casado for the 3 of us to share. I didn't see prices on the menu, but the total was only 6800 colones (about $10). The food was nice and salty and kid-approved. We could see the cook chopping fresh herbs for our meal. We were served refreshing lemon water. Everything was delicious. I know it's listed on Happy Cow as vegetarian, but I think everything is vegan?

Tasty Vietnamese vegetarian food

Cute little place serving authentic and delicious Vietnamese food. I got the Casado several times for lunch and it was a good portion with lots of veggies, soya/ seitan and rice/noodles. Best for takeaway.

Pros: Very affordable and tasy food

Cons: Few options

Super delicious and family feeling

It's a very nice family place which is like a small kitchen like in Asian countries.
The owners are so friendly and loving and I ate the best dumplings so far!
They were amazing and the sauce is just wonderful.
I am so grateful to this beautiful experience and can highly recommend to stop by. Simple outside but wohooo for the inside

Packed with flavor

Susbida is a small spot in downtown San José, I don't get around to going to the restaurant all that much but I do order pretty frequently via Uber Eats. I'm a big fan of their veggie soup with dumplings, especially around this time of year where it's raining all the time. Their daily special is a very good deal.

Pros: Fair price, Good portion size, Friendly staff

Cons: Small place

Good, inexpensive Asian food

Had a mix of several foods and it was pretty good. It was really inexpensive. Served quickly. Plugs available. I paid with dollars and the guy miscalculated the returning colones, but realized it later, when I was about to leave and gave me the missing colones. Nice gesture!

Pros: Prices, staff, food

Cons: Not the nicest location, a bit cramped

good portions & budget friendly

I love it, it's my go to place for quick cheap eats. The typical dish of the day (casado) has 3 side dishes, some fried thing (usually eggplant or sweet potato) and rice or noodles (your choice). It also includes glass ofwater with a squirt of lemon juice but they have bottled iced tea too. The price is 3000 CRC roughly $5.20 USD and you know you'll end up feeling satisfied. Great option and very recommended

Pros: Anything can be made vegan if you ask for no eggs , they're on Uber eats, they don't charge extra for to-go packing

Cons: not 100% vegan

Quick and varied selection

This is a small, simple restaurant with a limited menu. The dishes are broadly Chinese with a Costa Rican twist (e.g., stir-fried plantains). Most people seemed to order the mixed plate, which was a helping of everything that was pre-prepared, like a buffet. There was just one woman doing all the cooking and, for much of the time while we were there, everything else as well, but she seemed to deal with it well. There was only water to drink and the décor could be improved but that would probably drive the prices up.
