I'd return - Edit
This place is next to the Public storage on Old Spanish Trl, so use that as your landmark. I had the vegan Nachos and they were good. Its a bit spicy, similar to medium spice level. This was a to go order, and I was greeted immediately and given my food. I like that, they separated the chips from the cheese mixture to prevent sogginess.

First restaurant I’ve been to 3 times in a month - Edit
I almost never go to the same restaurant more than once in month. But me and the wife who’s not vegan went to this restaurant 3 times in 3 weeks. The sunshine burger, the mushroom burger, spicy black been burger, and the Quesadilla were our favorites mains. The sweet potato fries were the best I’ve had and the garlic kale was really good and spicy like I like it.

Delicious raw salads - Edit
I've been here many times and usually get the same thing: lemon kale, bean threads, and almond pate. Delicious and nutritious! I've tried their other food, which were good. But I prefer these salads.

Everything I have tried is really good- Almond pate, mixed kale/cabbage, garlic kale, wraps

Have been told many times everything is vegan, bread is vegan, black bean patty was vegan, but was told the opposite by the owner. Called again (Jan 2020) to see which items were vegan and was told every single thing was vegan and has been for months, which I know to not be true.
Pros: delicious

POC owned Vegetarian/vegan restaurant and mini-mart - Edit
First introduced to Sunshine's when having a lunch meeting with a mentor. Was in awe to be in a vegetarian/vegan establishment with so many POC! (If you frequent a lot of vegan places, you'll know this isn't the norm, yet). Love supporting vegan friendly businesses owned by people of color making ethical food for us, by us! ✊🏽
Read moreThe food is delicious! Just be sure to verify what is vegan on the menu as they do utilize dairy and cheese for the vegetarian folx.
Now working in the medical center, they even offer a discount to those that work with Baylor College of Medicine when you show your badge. Even more incentive to stop on by 💁🏽♀️
Pros: Both vegetarian and vegan options.
Cons: Can be crowded with more of a wait at peek times, (i.e. lunch rush) be sure to a lot extra time., Also be sure to specify vegan

It's good - Edit
Great vibe and the food was good. One burger is clearly marked not vegan. Salads are amazing, not a fan of the cheese, sends to be vegan Mayo, tumeric and maybe nutritional yeast. I'd go again but nothing with the cheese.

Beware of “Vegan” Dishes - Edit
I’m apart of the Houston Vegans page and someone just post that the black bean patty is not vegan as it contains milk and eggs. This includes the tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, burger, wrap, and nachos. There are other options that they are not transparent about like honey in some smoothies or bread options with dairy. There’s are a lot of concerns about clarity or transparency in ingredients and honesty in what’s vegan. Serval customers have been told everything is vegan or that something is vegan when it’s not. Just be careful when visiting this location. It’s scary when you can’t trust a restaurant to be honest with their food.

Cons: Lack of honesty or clarify with vegan dishes, Lies to customers about ingredients

Vegan Food Of the Highest Calibre - Edit
Wow this place is just awesome, let me start out by saying that not only where the smells just amazing, but the staff was very friendly, and the patrons even more so. We ended up speaking with a gentleman about our experience at the vegan Dale Festival, and told him about No Bones Based out of Oregon, and coincidentally he was going up to Oregon in the summer to give sermons at his brother in laws church. Good food, good people, convenient location. What more can you want? I ordered the lemon juice kale salad with hummus and carrot raisin salad, which was delicious by the way. My girlfriend order the garlic kale salad with nut pate and potato salad, which was equally delicious.

Horrible experience—don’t plan on coming back. - Edit
To begin, I tried calling the restaurant 3 times to place a to-go order with no answer. It wasn’t a problem as I’ve lived in the medical center for years and know it can get busy. By the 4th time, a woman picked up and before I could say anything she said “hold” and put me on hold for a couple of minutes. It’s not the hold that I mind, it’s the attitude that was given for no reason. After a few minutes I placed my order.
Read moreI made a trip to the restaurant only to have a truly disappointing experience. The woman who was taking care of your guests in line was not only not acknowledging anyone coming up to her, she also had a terrible attitude overall. There were about 4 guests ahead of me. With the person in front of me, the credit card machine stopped working. She walked away from the guy to the back without saying anything while he had his card still in the machine. Upon coming back she said the phone line is down so she can’t take payment. Understandable, but what will you do about it? We have all placed to go orders (the man in front of me and the people behind me, who also left). I completely understand that the power going out makes it impossible for us to pay with a credit card, but she showed absolutely no care. I told her I can leave her my card info, call later with my card information, vemno, paypal, whatever is most convenient. She ignored my suggestions (that would’ve helped her keep the customer in front of me who left after she walked away again for a good 5 minutes without saying a word) and said that the manager would not agree to that. When I suggested contacting the manager who was not at the store at that time to check rather than assume, she dismissed that too and stated she can’t call because the phone line is down. I offered she used my cell phone and she sighed and walked away again. She finally ended up using her own cell phone to call . By that time, it’s been over 30 minutes that I have been waiting to pick up a to go order that I ordered almost an hour prior. After speaking to the manager and making the paypal payment, she continued to dismiss me, couldn’t make any eye contact, handed the food on the counter and again took a step back. The manager on the phone was kind and polite, and even apologized for the inconvenience. Which is more than what I can say for her employees. This is NOT the attitude I would expect or really deserve after being patient and suggesting possibilities to s

Sunshine deliciousness - Edit
Tastily good vegan comfort food, both cooked and raw. Kale salads that impress newbies to raw foods, served alongside spaghetti & meatballs, greens, Mac & cheese, all vegan, and so good that omnivores frequent the deli. Inside a moderately stocked health food store, with good literature on healthy eating, & friendly, knowledgeable staff. Moved to new location, now has adjacent off street parking lot. Convenient to freeway, medical center area, football stadium complex. Gets crowded at lunch time so plan accordingly.

I Found My Place - Edit
My biggest complaint is that everything is not vegan. They are *SO* close to being completely vegan friendly--I think it is more than attainable to obtain vegan status because the only thing on the menu with animal products is the bread (to my knowledge). Also, some products they sell have honey, dairy, and/or egg. However, I'm so glad I found this place! I had been searching for a go-to veg place in Houston and I finally found it! I love the vibe and atmosphere, and the food is delicious--especially for those in transition to veganism. Definitely coming back to support!

Pre-made Burgers - Edit
The location was easy to find, parking is limited due to unfinished construction parking lot. The food was good however they use premade boca burgers & Sweet Potato fries. It would be better if they made it from scratch. It’s like fast food vegetarian spot...will definitely return.

Great nachos - Edit
Their burgers here aren’t anything too special. They use premade boca burgers and black bean patties. Wish they made those in house.. Their nachos however are really good! I always get the black bean nachos. Enchiladas are good. Their famous garlic kale is refreshing but I would pass if you’re sensitive to raw garlic. Heads up- the buns for burgers aren’t vegan but you can sub for Ezekiel bread if you ask. The bread for the wraps is vegan as well.

I waited too long - Edit
I went it for the first time and got the vegan enchiladas togo so I can finish up my errands I had. It was busy, but not busy enough to have taken 45 minutes for me to get my food and a smoothie. I have read it's faster to get the cold foods, but it shouldn't have taken that long to get my food. The food is very good. I just don't think it's good enough to wait 45 minutes for a Togo order. Might by back. But I'll make sure it's slow and no one else is there so I can get my food at a decent time. I even had to buy a premise carrot cake to eat while I waited because i was so hungry.
