Cosy and charming - Edit
I visited early Saturday night and it was fairly empty. Extremely cosy and comfortable surroundings on a cold November evening, artfully lit and hung with interesting pictures. Waitresses all friendly and English speaking. Phew! I had two options from the lunchtime menu, a "Bear" stew and the gnocchi, the latter being recommended by the waitress. Both were good but the gnocchi were superb as was the spicy massala tea and smoothie. All came to 37 Lev ( 2 teas!) and I'm still stuffed. That means full in English. Very, very nice feel to this place. Almost forgot the chocolate tart...yum!

Amazing - Edit
Super nice restaurant. Truly lovely staff, and such a cozy place to sit (especially the garden when the weather allows for it)
Read moreFood is top notch, and most things are vegan or can be made vegan by leaving out the ghee. Staff are really uncomplicated and so, so friendly.
There is really a lot of dishes to choose from as well as a quite extensive wine menu. I'll definitely be back here.

Sehr leckeres Essen - Edit
Der hintere Teil des Restaurants mit Garten ist sehr schön. Das Essen ist extrem lecker, die Portionen eher klein, was das Essen im Ergebnis recht teuer macht. Brot zu Dips wird extra berechnet.

Comfortable space, friendly staff and good food - Edit
Exterior sign is not in English, so if you don’t read Bulgarian, look for number 22, between Knyaz Boris I and Tsar Samuil. Ask for vegan items, and they’ll point them out in the cabinet, and there’s a vegan menu if you’re dining in. My first visit, besides a decaf soy latte, I ordered two banitsa (thin pastry with various fillings), one with tofu and black olives and a sweet one with pumpkin and walnuts. Both savoury and sweet were good. Their marzipan rolls, with almonds and dried fruit, are a good treat. The shorter daily menu changes every day. One Sunday I had a delicious meal made with basmati rice, roasted vegetables, chickpeas and tangy balsamic drizzle. Also enjoyed a Bulgarian beer. They have soy and rice milk. There is plenty of seating, including in a lovely rear garden. Fast, pleasant and helpful service. Reputedly one of the best bakeries in Sofia, so it’s a good place to buy bread too.

Great Food and Back Patio - Edit
Really enjoyed my Indian-inspired daily special and nice service. The backyard patio was so hip and peaceful, especially to be in the middle of Sofia. Make sure to grab some bread or dessert from the front counter on your way out!

Great Healthy Dinner - Edit
Very friendly English speaking staff, English menu available with quite a large selection.
Read moreWe had the lentil dish and the tofu curry, both were very tasty, especially the very flavorful curry. Nice to have a hot vegetarian dinner on a rainy evening that is both tasty and healthy.
Although not too expensive, the servings feel a little on the small side.
Had a couple cookies for desert (vegan options available), there were some interesting flavours and overall they were quite tasty if a little on the dry side, and relatively speaking felt almost healthy... For cookies.
Note: Review is based on our dinner for two (lunch and dinner menu's are different).
Pros: Friendly, english speaking staff, Extensive, healthy menu, Flavourful mains
Cons: Portions are a little small

Best curry in Europe - Edit
We went for lunch and had a hummus dish with grilled vegetables and the best tofu curry we have had during our three months of travelling in Europe! The menu has a really big selection and is reasonably priced. They also have a great online ordering system so you can see the menu in your own language and order what you like without any confusion. Lovely decor and friendly staff round out a great experience.

They had yummy vegan chocolate cookies, vegan hot chocolate and mint tea with Pine nuts! The tofu wrap was good if a little dry, but some things the staff said were vegan are not because there is honey!

Great stuff on Gladstone - Edit
It somehow felt very British eating St Georges Tempeh on William Gladstone street. The large menu is anything but however, with flavours from all over the world including local dishes. There are marked vegan options, but they will make most of it vegan if you ask. A solid shared starter of hummus, bread and a Bulgarian tomato dip which I forget the name of. They had raw desserts in the restaurant but were quite quick to point out they had honey in, so they took me to the bakery next door to pick something vegan instead which was greatly appreciated. An enjoyable meal in a nice atmosphere.

Great food, but a bit chaotic - Edit
I went to this location of Слънце Луна twice during my trip to Sofia, and I have to say that the food is really good. I had the St. George's Tempeh (which they can easily veganize) on both occasions (the first time it was recommended to me, the second time they didn't have the vegan burger I wanted to order so I simply went back to this), and it was really tasty. It made me realize that I need to make use of tempeh a lot more in my cooking.
Read moreThe atmosphere is really nice here, and you can either sit in the restaurant, or in the bakery section.
It's usually quite crowded which accurately reflects the quality of the food. I also had one of the vegan sweets which was really nice as well. Make sure that you check for the ingredients though, because a lot of the sweets contain honey.
The only negative thing I noticed was that everything seemed quite chaotic. The first time I went, the oven had broken down so they didn't have pizza, and the room I sat down in first didn't have working lights. The waiter was extremely friendly though and apologized several times.
The second time, there was another waiter who was completely overwhelmed. His colleagues didn't seem to have any issues, but it took a really long time for him to even bring me the menu, and later I waited ages for him to take my plate so I could ask for the bill. Eventually, I was tired of waiting and had to ask one of his colleagues who apologized.

Cons: Chaotic service

Quite disappointed with it as a restaurant - Edit
I was very excited to visit my Bulgarian friend's favourite restaurant in Sofia but I left feeling disappointed. The interior was lovely and the staff were very friendky but the food was very expensive for small portions - my boyfriend had an excellent "steak" (a vegetable patty with lots of beetroot) which was good but very small and I had a very disappointing pizza. It was just a big crunchy flat bread with hummus and a very basic green salad on top. It was ok, but it wasnt a pizza at all, it was bread and hummus, and it didnt have half tbe ingredients that the menu promised it would have. Overrall I think it would make a very nice stop during the day as a coffee shop but the restaurant menu is inconsistent. The drinks were interesting and very tasty. I had a kind of rose smoothie.

Nice-looking bakery that distrust their costumers - Edit
All in all it's a cozy and nice place which offers very delicious looking bread. Unfortunately I was there only a few hours prior to my departure from Bulgaria, so I only drank a few coffees. It was pretty crowded since many people wanted to buy lots of bakery and other take-away stuff. The only thing I disliked a lot was the CCTV surveillance for instance in the small back room. I wouldn't feel comfortable to sit there on the sofa talking with friends while being watched by a camera from above. Not only would I be irritated, also there isn't anything valuable or special in there to explain the necessity of a camera. Only two painting showing eyes also kinda watching, which was quite ironic.

Cute Organic Bakery & Restaurant :) - Edit
This was one of the very few veg places open in Sofia on the Ortadox Easter weekend on our recent trip. When we arrived the staff were super friendly with very good English :) We felt at home straight away.
Read moreIt is a small restaurant with two communal tables - so I can see how this may be a problem when they are busy, but due to being the Easter weekend and most people staying home it was quiet and we were only one of 4 in the restaurant.
We ordered drinks including iced tea of hibiscus & mint, bulgarian beer (for my boyfriend), and kombucha - all delish! We had Soup as entree with some fresh bread from the bakery and then we had mains - I had the broccoli & cashew with ginger sauce and my boyfriend had a meal which resembled blended up capsicum, tomato and spices topped with bulgarian feta - kind of like a soup but thicker - it is vegan without the feta - but make sure you order some bread to go with it - it was the most delicious meal of them all! Mine unfortunately was lacking in flavour - but because I was so hungry I ate it all. For dessert we got take aways - 2x vegan ginger cookies, 2x vegan chocolate cookies and raw chocolate-beetroot cake. All were not bad, but again not amazing, lacked a little flavour - I also make raw cakes for a living so guess I am a little critical but I think the texture of the raw beetroot chocolate cake wasn't that great, however the flavour was good.
Overall a good experience and I would go back. I also really appreciated their quick response to my Facebook message asking if they were open over Easter - they were the only veg restaurant that was open on Easter Monday too.
Pros: Lovely Staff! :), Location , Vegan Treats to Takeaway :)
Cons: Some food lacked flavour, Small - Communal Tables

Love this place! - Edit
I was thrilled when this place turned out to be on the corner of the street my hostel was staying in. (I went to the William Gladstone location.) It is an all vegan bakery, their breads are gorgeous and smell amazing. They also have cookies, cakes, and lots other items. They also offer a daily menu. There are several vegan options and some raw ones too. It was such a great place to linger with their home made lemonade (so good!) and breads for a leisurely Saturday morning breakfast. It has a great vibe and lovely communal tables in the front and some smaller ones in the back. And the staff is great. The woman who served me was really knowledgeable and able to point out what items were vegan and was happy to translate ingredients and share what her favorites were. Everyone there was really nice and cool. The kind of people you would want to be friends with. Also, the place was immaculate. It was a bit slow the morning I was in and they were all doing a lot of cleaning of shelves, etc. They had a lot of initiative, if I was the owner, I would be thrilled to have employees like these. Again, I was delightfully surprised at the plethora and quality of veggie and vegan options in Sofia and this place was just great.

Located on a small street close to "Vitosha" blvd. in the city centre, this cosy place is a bakery and a restaurant in one.
Read moreThe bread they bake, is really good and tasty, but a bit expensive.
The restaurant is small and most of the times is very busy.

Here I ate the worst soup in my life, about a year ago,but overall the food is good. Really good desserts.
Service was not good most of the times.
They cover the tables, the bar, sell bread and take money on the cashier too. Sometimes there is a queue for the bread.
I would suggest they have different people to do the different jobs.
Pros: located in the city center, cosy, nice desserts
Cons: not easy to find, small place, few tables , poor service
