Lovely veggie cafe

This cafe has recently become vegetarian - very welcome in Exmouth. There is a good range of choices, many of which can be vegan - I had a very nice lunch there. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Recommended if you are in the area.

Pros: Lot of vegan choices, Good position in Exmouth, Friendly and helpful staff

Not good service

I’ve been here few times. Food were good but the owner and employees are seeming to be really stressed out which effected to their customer service skills.. i understand if it’s busy but their way to handle my situation was not good at all. I ordered oat cappuccino and I got cappuccino with cows milk. I already wondered when I got the coffee that the foam was really really thick to be oat milk. I tasted it and it wasn’t oat milk. I asked nicely is it really oat milk and I got answered “I see already from the color that it’s oat milk” then she took the coffee and said “I can make you a fresh one” when the point wasn’t the freshness it was just double checking is the product the one I ordered. I said that I don’t need a new one if they’re 100% sure that the coffee is only oat milk and I got the same answer again “I’ll make you a fresh one” and nothing else. there was three people working and everyone looked at me like I’m an idiot. I just wanted to be sure of my coffee and this is how they’re handling it. I waited by the desk until (I assume) the owner said to me “could you wait outside please, we’ll bring your coffee there” ...the boy who made my coffee seemed to be new and he was quite insecure. I’m pretty sure that he accidentally put oat milk to cows milk jug where was still a bit of cows milk left and that’s why it tasted like cows milk. I’m barista and I know how oat cappuccino looks and tastes like and I know what kind of foam you’re able to do from it. Honest mistake these things happens it’s okay but how they handled it was really bad. this kind of service don’t make want to go here again .
For eating they had quite many vegan options. I had vegan baked potato it was good. Good place for lunch or brekkie.

Pros: Good vegan options, Good location

Cons: Poor service , Bad atmosphere

Best vegan food in Exmouth

Some places have that ‘special vibe’ to them that places them well above their local peers and Sundowners is such a place. The restaurant has a charming interior with lots of painted sections depicting the local area. The staff are welcoming of all, always with a smile, and are very knowledgable of vegan food.

Both my partner and I have experienced their daytime menu and evening tapas. You will not be disappointed with choices off of either. I had a bbq mushroom baguette with salad. Very nice flavours and really filling. My partner had the vegan cream tea and relished every bite, leaving with a huge smile on her face. We also want to a live music evening and enjoyed tapas for 2. The dishes are creative (such as coronation hummus with bread and tortilla chips), flavourful, very well presented (the final platter looked quite artistic!) and very balanced in flavour with no one thing dominating and overpowering, allowing you to enjoy everything. This food could easily sit on a high end London restaurant menu and attract a far higher price tag than it does, it is that good.

That ‘special vibe’ I mentioned earlier. The staff are attentive and happy to converse about your day or the food. Patrons are kind to one another, its got a community spirit about the place and the live music on the night we went was fantastic. It adds up to create an atmosphere that makes for a great dining experience and that’s what it’s all about. Well done Sundowners. You’ve set the bar very, very high.

Pros: Large range of vegan options, Friendly, knowledgable staff, Reasonable prices

Fantastic little place

We had a fabulous meal for a mix of vegan, veges, gf and meat eaters. It was so tasty! Such a great evening with fantastic wine options too! The owner worked so hard to cater for us all!

Nice little cafe

Had a lovely little window seat. Nice vibe in cafe. I enjoyed a lovely avocado, chickpea and coriander sandwich. Lots of the choices some were not home made like Clives pies etc but great to have a good choice and it was served with fresh veg and home cooked wedges.

Pros: Good choice, Friendly staff, Good value

Cons: Serves meat

Great for vegans

I recently discovered Sundowners and I am happily making my way through the vegan menu (ask for it at the bar). I’ve had two sandwiches so far and both have been delicious and more unusual flavours than I’ve seen before. The atmosphere is relaxed, the owner lovely and my dogs are welcome. If I lived in Exmouth I’d be here a couple of times a week at least. I’m looking forward to making my way through the rest of the vegan options. The pies look great!

Pros: Vegan options, Dog friendly , Friendly service
