Good food for good value

We went here 5 times in 6 days when we visited Beijing. Mostly because it was so close to our hostel (which didn’t have a kitchen) and so cheap. The last day we had to pay 68 though due to New Years.... I really recommend you to go here one or two times, but not 5. I can’t eat Chinese food anymore bc we went to many times (and I got food poisoning after the last time, but it could be from something else).

Staff is quite unfriendly, but the amount of food you get compensated for that.

Deserts and drinks are weird, except for the moochi, but food is great.

DO get there in time, sometimes stuff is running low.

Pros: All vegan, A lot of food for the money

Cons: Staff unfriendly

Cheap buffet with tons of options

Great authentic chinese food, all made vegetarian and (mostly) vegan. Some of our favorites were the fried dumplings, deep fried oyster mushroom (resembling duck), sweet and sour 'chicken', noodle stir-frys.
A lot of mock meats and starches, I would like some more vegetable options. They had a small salad buffet which was quite boring. Would like to see more roasted or fried veggies.
Drinks are included in the price of 51 ¥ but you might find them to be strange - soy milk, corn juice, hot lemon water (what we chose) and unidentified sweet liquid.

Pros: Plenty options, Cheap price

Cons: Lack of drink option, Non-English speaking staff, Lack of vegetables

Large touristy restaurant

This is fully vegan. Staff are less friendly than in other vegan restaurants around town - probably because it’s quite touristy. Very close to Tiananmen Square. I’ve only had the lunch buffet and I arrived a bit late, at 1.30pm. It closes at 2pm. Half the dishes were finished and not being replenished. Recommend you get there early (12.00 or so) when there should be more choice and it should be more fresh. It's along a row of many restaurants brside the main road, Quianmen West St, not back in the hutongs behind it. (slightly west of KFC and McDonalds!)

Pros: Large space, Large buffet, Fair price

Cons: Buffet winds down from 1.30pm, Some dishes were a bit over cooked by 1.30pm

Yes yes yes

Excellent oasis of vegan everything. 51¥ all you can eat lunch buffet. Ate here several times while in Beijing. Could make one meal last as two, treat the buffet like thanksgiving😉Get there early for best selection.

Pros: Soooo many options, Chinese and chinese inspired dishes.

Cons: Selection dwindles toward afternoon closure

Wonderful vegan buffet

I've been to other Veggie Tiger locations in Beijing, and love them. I was surprised that this one is a buffet. But the buffet is huge and beautiful and so full of a large variety of delicious food and drinks! 51 RMB for all you care to eat. Really good deal. 5 of us ate here and hung out in the nice environment for a couple of hours. Recommended.

Pros: Wonderful vegan buffet , Nice environment , Good price

It's ¥51 at lunch time for the buffet which has so much on offer. We went back twice as it was such good value for money and the food was so good. Definitely worth going to

Pros: friendly staff, great food, value for money

Taming the Tiger

This was a beautiful large restaurant on the main road so easy enough to find. We went for lunch, this was last month so forgive my memory, the menu I think had English descriptions, the choice was huge. We went for some noodles, steamed dumplings & these pastry type things (great descriptions I know) but it was all super tasty. They even sold Mooncakes, I bought a nut filled one to go. If you're near Tainanmen Square it's not too far a walk and definitely worth a visit.

Pros: Choice, Location, Ambience

Cons: None

So good!

We didn't know that this place is a buffet, because the day before we went to a different SUHU restaurant and it was a real restaurant, with a service.
But it doesn't matter, you pay only 51¥ and you can eat whatever you want! Everything looks so tasty, so it's really hard to choose. There is plenty of choice, soup, noodles, dumplings, vegetables, pancakes, fruits, salad, chinese cakes etc. We were completely full after that! :D

It wasn't easy to find because the location seems to be different on the app, I don't really understand why…

Pros: Cheap, Delicious, Too many choice!

To find vege Tiger - standing at Quianman station looking north towards Tiananmen square go West - you need to go through underpass and then cross a street - then go past police station- past first chinese KFC, passed McD and couple restaurants further you see vege Tiger sign at the building - open 11-14 and 17:30-22:00 and you find best vegan food buffet all you can eat for 51¥ -

Pros: All you can eat , Very friendly

Amazing food

The food here is fantastic! I highly recommend the “fish” soup - absolutely delicious! Portions are quite big. Someone else wrote in a review about it being hard to find - true! It’s on the parallel street closer to Tiananmen Square, where the cars are parked. Not much English spoken but there’s English on the menu and pictures.

Pros: Huge menu, Delicious food, Not too expensive

Cons: Very little English spoken, Hard to find

The absolute best

I still miss this place. While in Beijing, I went at least five times. There is not a single thing on the menu that wasn't delicious. So nice to be able to enjoy authentic Chinese food made vegan! I especially loved the noodle soup, the mushroom pancakes and their dumplings (try the juicy ones). Wish they spoke a little bit of English though!

Pros: superb food, clean and spacious restaurant

Cons: absolutely zero English spoken

Possibly best option in Beijing

Beijing is not great for vegans, but this was the best place I visited while in town. Thanks to a previous reviewer I knew to look for the McDonalds arches of evil which I saw right as I came out of the Qianmen station.

This is a big restaurant with lots of options. Everything I tried was great and the price was exactly what one would expect in Beijing.

Pros: Tasty food, Location near major tourist attractions

Amazing Chinese Vegan food

Restaurant is clean and wonderfully decorated. The food itself is wonderful. There are so many dishes to choose from, with great variety. If you want to find a typical Chinese dish, but vegan, come here.

Pros: All vegan! , Great tasting! , So many choices and variety

Nice location, amazing food

I highly recommend you to go. Their rules: no alcohol, no smoking, no animal suffering. I really love it! It's the closest vegan restaurant to the Forbidden City. It's very clean and big. Price is fine, they have a lot of food so you can choose between pricey dishes or reasonably priced ones. I personally paid 110 CNY for 4 dishes and one drink and I couldn't finish all. The soups are very cheap and usually quite big, I recommend it. For drinks, the small juice is about 350 mL big and the big one is 1 L. The staff, in general, is quite friendly. One of the waiters was rude to me, but only one person from a quite big team so not the end of the world. Some staff speaks a little of English and some of them none, so ask for some who speaks English first. It's very handy. You can see the Forbidden City from the entrance of the restaurant. If you cannot, then that is not the right road. The restaurant is in front of a parking and close to many other restaurants including McDonald's (sadly).

Pros: Variety, Cleanliness, Most staff very friendly

Cons: Hard to find

So good we went back!

We found this through the HappyCow app on our trip to Beijing. Fully vegan. We were staying in a Hutong not far so decided to try it out. The food was so good and the experience really good that we actually came back for dinner the next night! The guy at the front desk is very good at English and very friendly. He was teaching us some mandarin on the second night. The waiting staff are also very nice and helpful. There is a language barrier as none of them seem to speak English at all but with some charades and a little guess work, it’s pretty easy. If you’ve been to anywhere other than Beijing in China, this is not a new experience! Very good though. Can’t recommend enough.

Pros: All vegan, Lots of selection , Nice staff

Cons: A language barrier with waiting staff!

Like the others, just near Tiananmen Square

SUHU (素虎) is a vegan, alcohol-free restaurant chain that literally means "vegetarian tiger". I happened to find this one near Tiananmen Square. It's off of the QianMen station, like mentioned in the description.

Food here is the same menu as in other of the SUHU restaurants. Giant menu with a bunch of options. Here I had the 水饺 (boiled dumplings), the fake fish protein (really just wheat gluten), and the Vietnamese spring rolls. Delicious.

The main issue I had here was that there was no English-speaking staff attending tables. Only at the front, so when they had to tell me that the kind of dumpling I ordered was out of stock, that got a little hairy.

I think this place is pretty affordable at ¥110-ish for all of that above. Service was attentive, even if we had some language barriers. The place was also very clean and modern looking. Great place to go that's in the middle of the city.

Pros: Great location, Giant menu

Cons: Have to get by with Mandarin only
